  1. Just got sent this customer survey about a concept for next year's thrill ride. Neither the email or the survey asked for confidentiality so here is a screenshot. My response to the survey was pretty much begging them to build this. Here are the bullet points if they are hard to read. -3,190 FEET OF CUTTING EDGE ENGINEERING -WORLDS FIRST WOODEN COASTER WITH A WING OVER DROP -ZERO G CAMELBACK, HOP REVERSAL, SUSPENDED CORKSCREW. Fingers crossed, I really want them to go with this concept.
  2. ^^I haven't ridden Maverick since 2009 but I thought it had three airtime hills... the one before the horse shoe roll, the trimmed one after the launch (some floater air), and then the one in between the Stengel Dive and the curve into the brake run. Just curious as to which one you are not counting (I'm assuming the trimmed one).
  3. ^While I personally wouldn't have a problem with letting the child ride a second time (perhaps even purchasing an on-ride photo with both parents) you are right that it is good that they even have parent swap in the first place. Glad to see this at SDC. I don't have kids, but understand that this small thing is invaluable to parents.
  4. ^ And fresh milk cow-tit drinking fountains! Lol. I can't say I've ever eaten something "fresh" at a theme park. Usually, I'm there to ride coasters and clog my arteries.
  5. ^Harness design and trim brakes can curb some of the pain of slamming into the restraints. My personal opinion is that building a roller coaster with a drop steeper than Takabisha is kind-of entering "Gimmicky" territory and will probably not add that much more to a ride. I could be wrong though. The height & speed coaster wars are at a cease fire right now, so most inversions and steepest drop are the new battlefronts I suppose.
  6. I don't have cable/satellite, but I'm going to a friends house to catch this episode! Glad to see coasters back on TV. I think the answer is... filming costs/schedules limit where/when they can film and they found a way to make it work.
  7. Just heard that Darien Lake is closed for the entire day because of a water outage in the county. No working toilets, ect. They haven't updated their facebook yet though so I'm not sure.
  8. Just caught up on the coverage of Full Throttle. I can admit I was wrong, the ride itself seems above average. What I don't get is the marketing/theming... it seems so random. I find the people on stilts mildly amusing.
  9. Good find. I probably would have just taken a picture from the road though as it is private property. As long as you didn't hop fences or pass any posted signs it isn't too bad. I highly doubt that somebody didn't want it and just left it there. Why would you assemble it if you were just gonna dump it? Hopefully this little guy gets restored and a nice new home.
  10. I have never had an issue and I usually unfasten the seat belt while the train is moving into the station. This allows me to just pop out of my seat and be on my way, my small contribution towards faster operations. I think 99% of the time you are not going to have a problem.
  11. Finally backed it at the last minute. $50 for platinum edition.
  12. Great report. Was going to comment about the date but I see you ninja edited that!
  13. And now I have yet another reason to return to Orlando. My god that double up double down.
  14. I think it looks GREAT! They turned Rattler into a visual park icon. What's so wrong with that? Only thing that could make it better is some sort of lighting package, but as it stands it should be vibrant enough with the uplights.
  15. Oh God... Have to hand it to them. The is the first coaster in years to give me an uneasy feeling when I think about riding it in August.
  16. I think it is going to make it! Crossing my fingers.
  17. Kind of scummy. But I doubt this is a huge problem. Just a few rich people doing rich people stuff.
  18. I'll have to go to a friend's house and check it out!
  19. ^With the waves crashing along the beach that live stream is way more relaxing then it should be
  20. ^Good to know. The ones on Full Throttle kind of remind me of Mac Pros with the Steel/Aluminum look with tiny holes.
  21. Wow, must have the "slow" wheels on. That thing crawls through those inversions.
  22. It is not a matter of breaking down permanently, because pretty much anything can be fixed. It is more of a matter of not being worth the coast to maintain it. Corkscrew is pretty small and takes up a narrow strip of land. I'm not really sure if anything substantial could go in its place. I think the corkscrews going over the midway is what is really saving it from being turned into scrap.
  23. If a clone of this popped up in the North Eastern United States... I would be so happy!
  24. Maverick doesn't use "Old-track" construction. Intamin still does use that type of track for some projects.... so it is not really "old." It is just the type they use for a blitz coaster, the same type used for iSpeed and Cheetah Hunt.
  25. Does anyone have any concept art for how exactly a drifting coaster works? I have an idea but do not exactly know.
