  1. Just out of curiosity, when you were there was UFO still there? There is talk in the Darien lake thread about it not being on the website and am curious.
  2. ^They do not need the trains for anything right now. But I think it is more likely that they will move the trains up there and save them for a new wooden coaster than Gwazi moving. So, if the trains get moved to BGW it somewhat validates the rumor that they will get a wooden coaster eventually.
  3. If there is any truth to this, it is that they are shipping the trains to BGW. Wasn't it posted a while back that one of the Gwazi trains was on pallets ready to go?
  4. ^^^ I love it when you see adverts and signage using coasters from a different park. Somewhat related, if you look at some of the menu signage inside of festhaus at BGW you can make out the silhouette of Viper at Darien Lake. That pov has to be with the slow wheels on. Any slower it would risk vallying.
  5. I really hope this isn't true. Even among the GP that ride is pretty popular.
  6. ^It was already posted, not embedded. It was captured by TPR user Tbcoasterfan.
  7. Depending on the event, I could always take time off or put in weekend hours to make up for the time off.
  8. ^^ I know the pictures cannot do it justice! Having rode Hulk and Kumba last month I have a growing love for the floored B&M loopers. Can't wait to see how this one measures up.
  9. ^ That is correct sir! 185 ft. I believe it came from Alabama Adventure.
  10. I'm really jealous! Being a WNY local I'd LOVE to have this kind of tour. If you end up doing it again and are open to others joining you let me know! p.s. What University are you at?
  11. Awesome video! Thanks for posting.
  12. Doubt it as Rocky Mountain has already had their hands on it for a while now, as far as re-tracking and maintenance goes. Also, just not a big enough park to foot the investment. Liking the new sign for Power Tower. I wonder where they are going to put all the safety info that is just chillin on that bench there.
  13. ^Ah, I am corrected. At first glance I thought they were the same.
  14. Well, Seabreeze has the model you first posted so I don't really think Darien Lake will invest in something a close competitor already has.
  15. Looks great, and with a full train and harder wheels it is going to fly over that last airtime hill!
  16. Part of me starts to think, "Will Carnival survive all this bad PR?" Most likely, yeah... and Carnival is a necessary evil! If there is no Carnival, all those passengers might go on RCCL!
  17. ^^^ I don't understand? How did they get their 14 count from the 4th dimension coaster? I need a breakdown of the "inversions" because I'm not seeing it.
  18. The rides are really realistic! I'm hoping that they make some changes to the terrain and tree textures as right now it feels like the rides and the environment are from different games. That being said, this is phenomenal work! I'm hoping I can find the funds to pledge soon!
  19. I think it has more to do with elevation rather than location. At the lower elevations the surrounding rides/trees/buildings will block the noise, whereas the first drop is above the treeline and therefor needs a sound shield. If covering the first drop was indeed purely a theming choice it was a bad one in my opinion.
  20. I wonder how much money has been "sunk" into retrieving the ship so far. Carnival is the parent company of Costa correct? I can't believe how much trouble they have had the past few years, this included. It has gotten way past the point of just being "bad luck" I guess.
  21. ^Ah... I'm assuming they keep a crane on site?
  22. Just thought I'd post the YouTube video as I didn't see it in Elissa's Post. [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/hScXsWCW0uE[/youtu_be]
  23. So, will this evac-gondola be attached if there is a breakdown or sit at the bottom of the tower the entire time?
  24. ^Agreed! And I can't imagine that renting the space out would be cost prohibitive since Darien Lake is pretty budget friendly as it is. I know of a few companies that rent out the pavilions annually for fun-days but they lacked a meeting space. I can only dream that my employer will have a meeting there. I kinda wish that Darien Lake was more active with their social media and facebook. I imagine that they have most of Blast Off completed, but we haven't had an update since January!
