  1. I love that name! SDC/DW always do a pretty well job coming up with attraction names and themes.
  2. Thanks for sharing! Very interesting to see and the 305 photo is my new wallpaper! Kings Dominion was actually on the news here in Roanoke yesterday about this rescue challenge as our local crews tackled Anaconda. I'm surprised they traveled 3 hours to do this, but I think this is important and unique training. Last time I remember KD being in the news here was when Intimidator 305 had its media day on April 1, 2010 so I was thrilled to see this... Roanoke Valley rescue crews take training to new heights at Kings Dominion Click here to watch the video. http://www2.wsls.com/news/2012/may/10/roanoke-valley-rescue-crews-take-training-new-heig-ar-1904094/
  3. ^ Thanks for the information. At the moment, it's looking like I'll be at KI on a Monday/Tuesday and CP on Wednesday/Thursday. I'm hoping this will help with crowds, but I do plan on getting Fast Lane at CP. I really don't see the need at KI since KD is my "home" park and I can ride all the FOF, Backlot, Windseeker, ect. I want back here in Virginia.
  4. Living right in the middle of the 2 Hurlers (3 hours away from each) I can say that both aren't as bad as what people make them out to be, but they certainly aren't great rides. I do however find Kings Dominion's slightly smoother on the straight stretches of the ride. Back on the topic of Kings Island... around when do the local school systems get out around the Cincinnati area? I'm planning a trip there (and CP) in early-mid June and am trying to avoid the school crowds if possible.
  5. That's unfortunate, you'd think if they paid to paint the whole ride that they could have simply painted the arch and installed a new sign... I'm sure the faded warm colored sign doesn't look good at all with the newly painted cool colored ride. With the chain starting to focus more on details under the new CEO (well, atleast at KD), I'm surprised they let this slip. I hope it gets fixed.
  6. ^^ Agreed, if it is a normal drop tower, it makes no sense for the "dive" to be in the name. It could simply be "Desert Drop". Anything is/will be better than Mach Tower in my opinion though...
  7. Marketing like this is what makes me enjoy Thorpe Park so much. I honestly probably wouldn't check up on Thorpe or Alton at all if it wasn't for stuff like this considering I won't be going there anytime soon...
  8. Just curious, did Invertigo get a new sign and fresh paint on the arch? You have a good variety of pictures. Once again, thanks for sharing!
  9. I don't know why I love the way this coaster looks so much... Maybe it's because it looks like a mini Cheetah Hunt! This looks like an awesome attraction for SWSD and I can't wait to see a POV or hear about the "tunnel" part.
  10. Wow the park seemed pretty crowded! I can't believe Windseeker looked like that, as you'd think since it is still the "new ride" they would have had it up and running for the season's opening. Thanks for sharing!
  11. WaterWorks doesn't open up until Saturday, May 26th this season.
  12. Thanks for the trip report... you have some awesome shots! I'm excited to visit Kings Island June 11-12.
  13. Intimidator 305's lifthill is a thrill of its own (a great way to start the ride) and I'm glad Skyrush's looks just as good! Anyways, the ride is flying through its awesome layout... which I absolutely love. This is easily my most anticipated coaster to ride out of any ride in the world. Hopefully, I'll ride it either this season or next.
  14. Thanks for sharing! I'm glad to see all the improvements going on around the park, including all the Fast Lane entrances. I can't wait to check out everything and use the Fast Lane on my trip June 13-14.
  15. I couldn't disagree more. I don't have a single complaint about the whole ride/layout/theme/ect. of the whole Cheetah Hunt experience (besides the name) and feels like it fits into BGT perfectly. So far, I'd much rather have that up here in VA than Verbolten... but I'm hoping that the indoor portion will help change my mind. Be thankful for your great attraction down there!
  16. Since the park opened on May 3, 1975... I just wanted to say happy 37th birthday Kings Dominion!
  17. It's great from a marketing standpoint, especially on Facebook to post that considering half the comments on amusement park pages are something along the lines of "u guyz need 2 build more r0llar coastrz!".
  18. Well their B&M invert Raptor is really close to the former Wildcat location, which is also green... But I guess that doesn't matter since they have the red & yellow Top Thrill Dragster right next to the red & yellow Iron Dragon.
  19. It FLYS over that second hill! Now that is AWESOME! The speed over the hills and around the turns is exactly what I like to see. I have no doubt that this will be in my top-5.
  20. ^ That's good to hear. I think it is totally fair (and still worth your buck) for FL users to merge in the station, pick their row, and wait just a few cycles. You're still skipping the whole queue line and all the switchbacks... which will be amazing to do at CP.
  21. Nice start to your Disney trip report. And yes, I agree that the whole resort is amazing! I also have to admit, EPCOT is my least favorite of the 4 parks too... but I still really like it. I really need to get to EPCOT during the International Flower and Garden Festival though, as it seems really neat!
  22. To be fair with non-Fast Lane users, I really wish the park would merge the Fast Lane users in the station like they are doing at Kings Dominion. Luckily I will definitely be getting a Fast Lane wristband when I go to the park, but it would really tick me off if I was a local and they allowed Fast Lane users to walk right up and pick my row that I was next for...
  23. Let's stop worrying about the bridge and focus our attention on the magical floating tunnel...
  24. Millennium Force was also built for 2000 and not 2012... That's 12 years for inflation of prices on everything. The 5100' Intimidator 305 cost 25 million to build 2 years ago. That ride uses a minimal amount of supports, is low to the ground over half the layout, only has 2 trains, and was built on a flat piece of land.
