  1. Glad to see they finally released that information. The price is $55 online. Let the fools of the general public pay for this as it would be silly to pay for Fast Lane at KD besides on a day where the park almost hits capacity. As long as you can knock out Volcano in the morning a few times, you can ride all those other rides easily thoughout the day. I was shocked seeing Flying Eagles and Triple Spin on the list as I thought Ricochet and Shockwave would as they suprisingly always has quite a line. The only ride you'll get your bang for your buck everyday is Volcano. That being said, I would be tempted to buy this though to marathon Intimidator 305 and Volcano all day/night long...
  2. ^^^ Thanks for the information, sounds like the movie was a bust... I understand charging for Dinosaurs Alive, but I still find it rediculously stupid to charge for the 3D movie. If they made it free it would get park visitors excited about dinosaurs and more likely to pay for the walk-thru... Also, Invertinger looks great with the new paint job. It should look well from the entrance plaza as well.
  3. That's exactly what a thought when I heard the name (or atleast a tagline/slogan since BGW's Howl-O-Scream: "Dark Side of the Gardens" worked well). It would be a good replacement for their Medieval Macabre maze atleast. Anyways back on topic, I LOVE this concept as it is very unique from other Haunts around the country. I wish more parks would be like Knott's and give enthusiasts sneak peaks of Haunts. Just another reason why Knott's is so awesome!
  4. Thanks for more behind-the-scenes photos! Also, thanks for posting the 2012 park booklet as I really enjoy those.
  5. I was already impressed by Dorney's choice of paint colors and name/logo, but this sign really looks great too! Although this is your standard Vekoma boomerang, I must admit that Dorney did a good job making the best out of it to make it seem exciting.
  6. ^^^ Kings Dominion is known for very heavy usage of fog during it's Haunt event, sometimes you can hardly see in front of you it is so thick. When you at the top of the Eiffel Tower and Drop Tower all you see is a heavy blanket of fog settled in the park. So Windseeker should be no different. As for Elvira's Superstition, I imagine once it leaves, the park will use the Action Theater for a Haunt maze like KI and Carowinds does... They are going to have to find somewhere for the Asylum this year since the Dinostore took over the Grizzly Arcade.
  7. Spongebob 3D was there for 9 seasons, which was way more than enough... You can only watch a 3D movie so many times before it gets just plain old. Even if you only go to the park once a season, after seeing it 9 times you'd be over Spongebob chasing the stupid pickle. It has hardly had much of a line either the last few seasons. Finally, it doesn't even make sense for it to be in the park anymore, the Nickelodeon characters left after the 2009 season, this should have left then too. The Dinosaurs Alive 3D movie would be a very wise choice for the theater (to get the guests excited about dinosaurs, which means they would pay for Dinosaurs Alive!), IF it was FREE. I haven't heard of such a stupid idea as charging to go see a <10 minute 3D movie.
  8. ^ That is what I'm expecting as well, but I don't understand why they would put "(coming soon!)" though if it was that, you'd think they'd have that made and ready to go by opening day considering it's obviously already made, unless they are revamping the theater. Plus that "(coming soon!)" is going to be on maps all season long, so its going to confuse people if it opens up randomly during the season. IF they charge money for a movie (DA 3D), I don't see many people at all paying for it at all..... The theater would be even more empty. If they charge for it, they really should make it free with Dinosaurs Alive admission.
  9. Thanks so much for sharing these! Very interesting. I'm really loooking forward to this new night show when I go to the park in early June! It should really be spectacular if MF, Power Tower, and Giant Wheel all get LED lighting packages. I hope the Giant Wheel's lighting package is half as good as the new 200' SkyWheel in Myrtle Beach, as I could stare at that all night long! Also, it seems like I'll be taking an extra 50+ bucks with me for the Fast Lane... I still can't believe they are going to charge more for Fast Lane than a ticket to get into the park.
  10. For you Kings Island locals: I know Dinosaurs Alive! was a hit with visitors and brought in a lot of money at your park last year (which is the reason for 4 more this season), but was the Dinosaurs Alive 3D movie popular at all? I couldn't imagine many people paying $2-$4 just to see a 10 minute 3D movie, so I was just curious. Spongebob 3D has finally left KD, and we are trying to figure out what's going in our Action Theater and hoping that it's not an upcharge movie. Also, any Soak City construction/renovation updates or photos lately?
  11. ^ It was there for 9 seasons as it came to the park in 2003 with Drop Tower. I personally would rather have a flat (S&S Swing) there, but I do not see them tearing down the theater in the near future. I definitely think the Action Theater will get lots of visitors again if they put in a good new 3D movie... visitors are just getting sick of watching Spongebob chase the stupid pickle for 9 seasons!
  12. ^That's good to hear about Rita's. We don't have any where I live, so I was curious of how it was. It's in a good location too right next to the Eiffel Tower, so it should get lots of business. Just reviewing the new map yet again... and I noticed something suprising! NO MORE SPONGEBOB 3D FINALLY? Under Action Theater on the map, it says "(Coming Soon!)". 2013 or summer 2012, anyone?
  13. It's finally here (as I've been checking almost every day...)! http://www.kingsdominion.com/images/uploads/file/12kd_parkmap.pdf Changes this year: -Obviously Windseeker and Dinosaurs Alive. -Grizzly Arcade is now "Dinostore" that has dinosaur products including plush, toys, and apparel. -Old Dominion Dairy is now "Ritas" that has premium ice cream, floats, milkshakes, frozen custards, Italian water ice, and drinks. -Fast Lane booth where the "Happiness is Finding a Cure!" breast cancer support booth was late last summer. Fast Pass description says on the map that only 10 rides will have it, sooo? Any guesses of which 10? -Description of where to enter WaterWorks and "arrow"... must've been some confusion? -The background/theme of the park map brochure is blue/circles. In 2011 it was orange/squares and in 2010 it was gray/arrows. Overall, I like it! Good job KD!
  14. Nice trip report so far. I saw some shots of the parks I haven't seen before. Too bad you missed the DCA fight!
  15. I'm in Roanoke, VA and we got 8 inches of snow Sunday/Sunday night, which is more than a lot of our family from Ohio has gotten. Here is part of my backyard... As far as the amusement parks go, I'm sure KD and BGW is thrilled with the mild weather on the eastern side of the state for Windseeker and Verbolten construction. It also helps them get other park improvements done such as pavers, paint, ride rehabs, ect. Back to the original discussion though, Windseeker sure does look good in the KD skyline. 4 attractions over 300 ft. is quite impressive. One thing park visitors do notice about the height of the attractions.
  16. The blue supports will tie the ride in with Delirium's blue supports well. I enjoy seeing areas have some form of unity, so this is a plus for me! Also, the aqua/blue scheme is going to look great from the entrance plaza.
  17. CoasterSkinny posted this photo to their Facebook page today, which shows the comparison in heights between Xtreme Skyflyer and Windseeker.
  18. ^ Likes the Washington Capitals < Can't wait for Kings Dominion opening day, April 6th V Would rather be in Orlando right now...
  19. We got 8 inches of snow today here in Roanoke, VA... and absolutely nobody knows how to drive in it! Don't go out unless you absolutely have to!
  20. X-Flight, Six Flags Great America 2012.
  21. Knott's seems like they really know how to throw an event for enthusiasts. I can't wait for more updates!
  22. We have our first snow storm of the season today (FINALLY). It's always a lovely sign when your hometown is the target, 5-8 inches! Here is my backyard so far (@ 3:00pm). 80%+ through 2 AM and then 30%+ through 6 AM...
  23. I saw The Woman in Black last night. Suprisingly a very good movie... it actually made me "jump" a few times, which is something a scary movie hasn't done in quite a while.
  24. ^ True, I suppose we all should respect that just in case it actually did occur. People just do not understand that in the courts of the US, the longer you wait to report something, the harder it will be to convict somebody as evidence and "stories" lose their reliability.
  25. I can't wait to see how Cedar Fair themes this to go with the medieval theme of the area. Behemoth obviously was a generic themed ride with a few modern twists (the sign, station, ect.), but in my opinion it fit the area that it is in well. Cedar Fair suprsingly did a nice job on the Intimidator areas... so let's hope this turns out to be good too!
