  1. Windseeker's seats have arrived at Kings Dominion! Also, if anyone wants to see more construction photos, Coaster Crew went to the park last Thursday and got some pictures (the day before the first piece was installed). http://www.facebook.com/coastercrew#!/media/set/?set=a.2526340283097.2111963.1391101425&type=1 From the Official Kings Dominion Facebook page.
  2. They must be expecting atleast some air there, considering they have the trims on the hill.
  3. Obviously you've never been on Mach Tower? Haha.
  4. Yeah, Intimidator 305 was topped out in the early hours of the morning. It was a very late night for the construction crew! I can't wait to see the finished lifthill for SkyRush!
  5. According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WindSeeker: Windseeker's structure has 8 total sections. Canada's Wonderland's took 16 days of vertical construction. Cedar Point's took 15 days of vertical construction. Kings Island's took 11 days of vertical construction. Knott's took 21 days of vertical construction. Then once that's completed the UFO's only take a day or so...
  6. That's good to hear as the B&M hypers are slower than a snail going up the lift! I'm still a little shocked of the angle of the lift, I thought it would be much steeper than it is... Did anyone ever find out the actual ange of it?
  7. ^ Nooo! Don't get him going on ANOTHER "KD needs a B&M invert" rant again...
  8. Yeah, the whole area has been dead since Hypersonic XLC left at the end of the 2007 season and Windseeker should draw the crowds back over to that end of the Grove once again. Xtreme SkyFlyer towers over that area now and it isn't even 2/3 of Windseeker's height, so this will really get guests' attention. The lighting package is going to go great with the lights and look of Juke Box Diner at night (which is right next to Windseeker). Finally, just having 4 structures in the park over 300 feet tall is just pretty impressive and good marketing for the park!
  9. KD also just went vertical on Friday. I'm glad to see that they are on the same schedule. Hopefully, they both finish on time and have the rides ready to go by opening day unlike last year! Considering that both Carowinds at KD started going vertical 2 months earlier than the 2011 Windseekers, it is looking likely! Opening day is March 31st for Carowinds and April 6th (Good Friday) for Kings Dominion.
  10. April Sundays are some of the least crowded days to go to KD by my experiences... It's a great time to go too as it usually isn't hot yet!
  11. ^ Don't get ahead of yourself, the show that Wonderland puts on already is FANTASTIC for Cedar Fair.
  12. The Dinosaurs Alive attractions are 1 million dollar investments. They charge $5 to experience the attraction. That means only 200,000 people to pay for it to become profitable. 3 years seems reasonable to me as looking at these things aren't something that people are going to want to do every time they come to the park... eventually they are going to lose their popularity.
  13. Does anyone happen to have a picture of the statue that is in front of Dragon Fire? I've seen the one in front of Wild Beast, and am wondering what the Dragon Fire one looks like.
  14. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=10150473080830876&set=a.104124665875.103406.10286130875&type=1&theater From the Knott's Berry Farm Facebook page.
  15. ^^ Agreed. The 10:30 rope drop always ends up with a stampede to Volcano for me. Always get on the first train of the day and can get 1-2 more rides in with less than a 5 minute wait for each, and then it is straight to 305 for a marathon before the crowds gets back there!
  16. ^ No. The ramp in the foreground is the path that wraps around Extreme SkyFlyer. The base of the Windseeker tower is right where the entrance & exit ramps began for El Dorado, so it should take up quite a bit more room (which is great) of the asphalt in that area... hopefully KD gets a cool Windseeker sign like CP and KI did!
  17. ^ It is. Windseeker will finally give people a reason to go to that end of the Grove again. It has been the ghost town section of the park since Hypersonic XLC left. This will also take up much more room than El Dorado did, which is hopefully going to fill up more of the "asphalt jungle"...
  18. First piece of Windseeker is up! http://twitter.com/#!/KingsDominionVA/status/160426025979883520/photo/1
  19. Can anyone make out the slogan under the Cedar Point logo on those advertisements posted on the previous page? I'm curious of what it says...
  20. The 2012 park map was released with the new website... DInosaurs have taken over the newly named "Adventure Island". If this map has any indication on real life then it appears there will be historic million year old dinosaurs under a massive steel roller coaster. That makes a lot of sense! http://www.cedarpoint.com/plan-a-visit/park-map
  21. ^ Kings Dominion was the first, and they got theirs in August. I'm with you, hopefully the other CF parks change theirs soon as it's a welcome change! California's Great America REALLY needs a new website; they still have the Paramount design!
  22. NightHawk at Carowinds comes to mind from my credits... I just laugh every time I pass by it with its 2+ hour line. Fools!
  23. This new Intamin track that's used on Intimidator 305 & SkyRush is by far my favorite coaster track ever... I'm just not a fan of the lift hill track on this one at all, but I'll wait to see the finished product before I make my mind up completely.
  24. ^ Then the 49ers would just have more money to speed the stadium process up! After looking at the stadium plans multiple times, it looks like the 49ers will go from the worst stadium in the NFL to the top-3. I REALLY like the design of the 49ers new one! If and when this stadium gets going though, I do wonder if San Francisco will make a bid to host the Super Bowl one year. I think the NFL made it obvious that you don't have to be in the southern end of the country anymore when the accepted the New York bid to host the Super Bowl in 2014. If the Super Bowl ever was brought to San Francisco, I wonder if CGA would open the park for Super Bowl week although it's mid-offseason. Just think of the crowds that would come in...
  25. I also think this. I like the way that Possessed's supports and Stinger's track are about the same color, it makes the area look more unified and there isn't a big mixture of random colors... Impressive CF!
