^ Based on the photos/pov, up close it does look rather oddly shaped... but from a distance it looks cool. So, when will they trim it to death like Intimidator down at Carowinds...? It looks insane at the moment, but let's face it, will B&M actually allow a hyper-like ride to be that intense?

^ That was established 2 pages ago. Anyways, he does have his points. With the track and supports being dark, those huge cube footers do stand out way too much as of now. Also, the tunnel does look very silly as of now, especially since you'll be able to see it on the ride and off of the ride in the spring, Howl-O-Scream, and ChristmasTown when the leaves are off of the trees. Hopefully, they put a lot of evergreen trees in there to cover that since it looks like a floating random stone wall. Like others have said, they have 2 months to go... so there is still plenty of time.

Based on the offride videos and POV, in my opinion the best part of the ride (besides the drop) looks to be little hump after the first turn. It is hauling over that and although it is a very gradual hill, it still seems like you are going to get some great untrimmed air there. I can't believe the lift hill takes nearly 1 minute to get to the top! That's going to be quite the difference compared to Intimidator 305 (17 seconds) and Millennium Force's (27 seconds) 45 degree cable lifts. I don't know about you all, but I find the fast lifts to be very thrilling. Thanks for sharing the videos guys!

Thanks for the update and you took some great photos! It was really nice to see the non-Verbolten side of the park... Especially Alpie!

^ Seems like the way it goes these days... Hopefully, Wild Eagle will deliver. It opens up on Friday. The theming is what makes The Swarm it appears, and not the ride itself. I think Thorpe did a great job promoting this ride.

^ Agreed! He's been worried about how Fast Lane is going to ruin KD lately. Anyways, as everyone else has said: Get there at opening and ride it first! If you are one of the first ones there you can ride it one or two more times after that before the line gets insane. As for my opinions of the ride, I absolutely love it! Many of you all probably consider me biased because it's at KD, but it is a coaster that I can ride all the time and I always have a rush unlike a lot of other coasters. 2nd best coaster at the park behind Intimidator 305 of course.

Considering it is Virginia Tech colors... I can say I absolutely love this color scheme! Although I'm not excited for the ride itself at all, I am looking forward to see what SFA does with the plaza, station, theming, ect.

I go to the park many times a year. This is a park where the lines vary quite often and it just depends on the day... One thing you can bet on though is Volcano having a very long line all day long. It is still the most popular ride in the park and the capaicty isn't ideal, so get to the park at opening and go ride it several times in the morning.

That would be rediculously stupid... They could just have the Fast Lane users walk up the exit...

I love that logo. Very creative! I hope they actually use it this year on park maps, signs, ect.

All his posts are like that... Anyways, the trains are awesome! They appear to let the riders have even more freedom than the tradition Intamin lapbars like on MF and TTD.

^ I have to definitely agree with you on that one Steve. Running one train on Intimidator 305 is my biggest pet peeve about the park... Seriously, you wait less time for Intimidator 305 on the weekends than you do on the weekdays if they are running one train. They have rarely ran both trains on weekdays as the majority of the time they only run one Monday-Friday...

Mat racers are always a hit. I REALLY like the design of this one with the black & white checker pattern. Considering it is a smaller park, the 4 lanes shouldn't really cause capacity issues.

I like the colors of the train! I'm curious what the middle section theming will look like...

Besides Verbolten, Windseeker and DInosaurs Alive are coming to Virginia this spring! The Coaster Crew got to go out to Kings Dominion yesterday to check up on the progress being made in the park. The seat installation has begun! The carousel of the ride is just about complete! 301' tall! The former "Grizzly Arcade" is now the freshly painted "Dinostore"! Dinosaurs Alive is located in between Grizzly and Thunder Raceway. During the spring and fall, you'll be able to get some behind-the-scenes shots of Grizzly from within Dinosaurs Alive! A dinosaur adverising Dinosaurs Alive will be located outside the park in the entrance plaza this season welcoming guests. The fountains are recieving a fresh coat of paint this offseason. (Notice Windseeker on the right side of the Eiffel Tower, 3 300'+ feet towers!).

I have to agree. If there was one B&M hyper I could ride now, it would definitely be this one. Nice colors, drop, layout, and that freaking amazing helix. I'm glad to see this hyper standing out from the rest and Leviathan.

So much for the "family" part of this ride! Between the very creepy theming and exciting almost-extreme elements I'm not so sure I'd say this is a more calm ride than LNM and maybe even Apollo's Chariot (sorry B&M hyper fans). From a coaster enthusiast standpoint, this makes me thrilled but I can imagine kids being terrified of this ride already. The theming of the queue (creepy), the big indoor building (fear of the unknown), launches (a first for BGW & probably a lot of guests), that rumor that "the track drops down!" (the free-fall), and then the big final drop that families will see while walking to Oktoberfest just seems like its going to cause concern in those who think the park is missing a "family" coaster since the Wolf left. I'm not complaining, I was just stating that I'm in shock as I was expecting more of a "Backlot Stunt Coaster" family ride, not a scarier version of Expedition Everest. Anyways, thank you both for your reports! I can't wait until this thing opens up!

The prices are much more reasonable than I thought. I'm glad to see fair prices and I hope this is a hit for Universal. It looks great!

Has SFA released an estimated opening day for Apocalypse yet? I'd imagine Memorial Day weekend, but they seem so far behind...?

The ride is looking better and better by the day and I would be suprised if it doesn't end up in my top-5. Seems like another Intamin winner and I loved the compact area the park chose for it, it just adds to the rides personality. Speaking of that lack of space, did we ever figure out how they are running the cable back to the station since they can't do a trench like 305 has?
