If you do a little digging on that site you'd find that the person who runs it is in fact an employee of Gerstlauer. -

Better Theming or More Track
SoCalCoasters replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I usually prefer theming a ride. One great example of this is, of course, Space Mountain. The theming is EVERYTHING for that attraction, as well as many others. Many mine trains would not be as enjoyable without their terrain or theming. It's really a preference thing, but I think most people really do love theming. -

I love the cars! Any coaster with well themed trains is a win in my book! -
Proslide currently owns a park that they use for their testing grounds. This park received the prototype mat racer and had their mammoth dark slide modified into the first Tornado Alley: http://www.montcascades.ca/aqua/en_home.asp This will actually be ProSlide's second park! Mont Cascades is a division of Proslide. It's obvious they had success with their first park if they're moving forward with a second one! I look forward to the results!

Hurricane Sandy vs. Roller Coasters
SoCalCoasters replied to UrbanLegend's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sure Miller would be interested in hearing your feedback. As would the park. These people poured their money into these places for decades. Two family run piers, both decimated by this storm. Yes, they may rebuild, but it'll take quite a long time. Yes, a coaster got destroyed that didn't have a good reputation, but obviously made the park money. Is it really something to joke about? Yes I can take a joke, but in situations like this...I just think it's out of line. Does that make sense? Yes, yes I have. VV -
Just to make sure we're clear, there were ONLY three Indy movies. ONLY Three. This deal is very interesting to me. I look forward to seeing what happens. During a Live Press conference call this afternoon they did say they're looking to place Star Wars immediately into both Shanghai and Hong Kong parks, as well as the other properties in the future.

I disagree. I'm HAPPY to see some coasters destroyed! I'm sure the park would disagree with you there. Yes they probably have insurance, but it's still upsetting. The pier likely won't be rebuilt for quite sometime, and that's going to seriously hurt their business if they fail to catch the 2013 Spring and Summer Crowds.

Dear California Adventure, I really love this ride. That backwards lift system implemented into a full circuit coaster that can operate four trains simultaneously is truly genius. While the rock work isn't quite as "immense" or "encompassing" as the other Big Thunders, the more minimalistic rock work and micro detailing makes this ride just as, or even more impressive. One thing I noticed that was a bit interesting was the fact that the track was accessible to maintenance at every point in the layout. There's a path next to the ride at all times...

Then I assume you can magically conjure up a viable chassis for the Flying Turns that can run day in and day out with all the stresses placed on it by the layout of the ride? You should totally call up Mike Boodley and tell him he's not doing a good job. Anyway, I'd hate to see Wild Mouse torn down. It looks like a really crazy classic coaster. (Yay for alliteration!)

While people keep pointing fingers here and saying SFMM is "cheap", I find that hard to believe with all the work they put into Fright Fest and the investment of a brand new coaster for next year. I mean, we have to keep in mind that the park's maintenance division has the immense task of keeping track of parts and maintenance schedules for 17 different roller coasters and various other rides and attractions. That can get incredibly expensive and very complicated for SFMM I'm sure. With how much a ride vehicle costs to keep up and the crowds that the park generally appeals to, it doesn't surprise me that they only run 2 trains on rides during busy days or run one train while the other is in rehab. When you think about it logically from a park's perspective, a one train operation on a coaster where the other train is in rehab is much better than having the ride down completely while rehabbing 2 trains. Before anyone counters this with either "I'm a fanboy blahblahblah" or "Full Throttle's layout is wasteful", yes I know it's not perfect, and I know that their crews are not the best dispatch wise. I do think adding the dispatch timers has helped a bit on some of the larger rides, but crews are generally lackluster. You can attribute this to poor management, but I think it's more the mentality of the staff they have. Sure there's always room for improvement, but without properly addressing the concerns in a logical way, it's just a bunch of useless garble. We've been hearing the same complaints out of this thread for years about SFMM, so people magically believing the mentality of the park going to somehow going to instantly change are grasping at straws... My two cents.

They already have another kid area, and the only ride worth saving is the kid coaster, but it could easily be moved into a new location. I give up. The New Indiana Voyage? In all seriousness I look forward to the upcoming announcements. -

Sounds like It'll have vehicles similar to those on Revenge of the Mummy. Edit: Another thing to consider with this ride is whether or not it'll be using Gerstlauer new Eurofighter lapbars. Anyone who's ridden Iron Shark mind chiming in about how these might hold up when being inverted for extended periods of time?
