  1. I had to do a presentation last week for my Senior Engineering Seminar class about an engineering or technical project and the impacts it made on society. My presentation was the impact of the roller coaster throughout history, and I got an A!
  2. I remembered another rain incident on LeviaTHON last year. We were on Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake and it started to pour down rain. After a while, the tracks got so wet that they couldn't stop the train in the station when the lightning started. We barreled through the station at probably 30-40 mph. They actually had to turn off the electricity to the ride and stop us on the lift. We sat on the lift for a few minutes before they evac'd us. We weren't even allowed to walk back through the "dry" tunnel. We had to run beneath the structure and across the transfer track to get back!
  3. ^ Good suggestion! You've never steered me wrong before.
  4. Call me an oddball, but I really do enjoy the song for It's a Small World. I also love... REAL carousel music from a genuine band organ Millennium Force's station music (don't think it plays anymore) The soundtrack for Ghostwood Estate at Kennywood
  5. Around $2500 for the TPR Mexico Tour. Airfare from Pittsburgh to Mexico City was ridiculous.
  6. Medusa is becoming even sexier! This is going to be a kickass ride!
  7. That was horrible. It was my worst experience until this year. I got rained out of both Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Six Flags over Georgia. On the parking lot tram out of BGW, the ride op greeted everyone with: "Welcome to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, where every ride is a water ride!" At SFOG, it was so bad that they actually closed Monster Mansion because it was raining too hard. Ironic for an indoor ride to close for rain, right? Also, when I was at USF/IOA last January, the temperature was SUPPOSED to be in the low 70's, but I swear Florida knew I was coming and it swung down to 22 degrees. I can still remember riding Jurassic Park when it was 37 degrees outside. Definitely wasn't the smartest thing I've done.
  8. Thanks for the info about the dolls being online! Now I just need to pick the most annoying one.
  9. Great update! I wish I could get one of those It's A Small World dolls for a present for a friend who hates that ride.
  10. There are too many stations that are just too small. They're so difficult to move around in when crowded. Examples: El Toro @ SFGAdv Loch Ness Monster @ BGW Great Nor'easter @ Morey's ...etc, etc, etc....
  11. ^ Glad to see transport like that is making a comeback. We have two of these in Pittsburgh. They're a really cool way to get up and down hills.
  12. I love how the corkscrew is just sitting there on its side with the supports in the air. I hope they keep it that way.
  13. I would recommend adding Waldameer to your trip. It's an amazing little park and Ravine Flyer II is fantastic. It's a few hours north of Kennywood (Erie, PA), but Conneaut Lake is also on the way and both parks are easily doable in one day. If you're a real credit whore, Fun Fore All's Fiesta Express is also easily accessible on the same day. Your trip will be a blast! The Pennsylvania parks are wonderful!
  14. Great update for Goliath! Can't wait to see even more great construction photos as work goes on!
  15. I disagree. People in general are stupid. Honestly, if Anheuser Busch still owned SeaWorld, there would probably be a petition to have Busch get rid of them. For this situation, it will pass just like everything else. I hope it will result in an even better SeaWorld.
  16. ^ I rode Dr. Doom last January and I was extremely surprised with the amount of airtime on it. I wasn't expecting such a small tower to pack such a punch.
  17. Making my first visit to SFOT in a few weeks and I've got a few questions about the place. 1. How crowded would the park be the weekend after Christmas? (12/28 & 12/29) 2. Is there an official policy regarding ride closures due to temperature? I couldn't find anything on the website. Thanks in advance!
  18. ^^ He didn't ride his coasters because he had terrible motion sickness. It's not because of the rides themselves.
  19. I've heard way back in 1975 that insurance agencies were reluctant to insure Revolution at Magic Mountain because it only had the lapbar and not an OTSR like Corkscrew at Knott's.
  20. ^ I didn't think Steel Hawg was terribly uncomfortable, but the harnesses on it would dig into your shoulders in a few places. With the lapbars, this one should be fairly comfortable.
  21. I love Magnum, but sometimes the lapbars can be pretty painful. As great as the airtime is on Magnum, it's only fun until your crotch gets slammed into the bar.
  22. Some of my favorites: Miss Lillian's Fried Chicken - Dollywood Trapper's Smokehouse - both Busch Gardens Potato Patch - Kennywood and the chicken strips at Marineland (No clue what their restaurant was called)
  23. With all of these bands pulling out of Bands, Brew, and BBQ, I'm very tempted to go to the REO Speedwagon concert to support SeaWorld. I'll just see how this will pan out with moving and starting a new job in January.
  24. ^ That's because the families were ignored at a lot of the Cedar Fair parks in recent years. I'm glad to see more family attractions at some of their parks because they were really needed. I'd rather CF try to balance thrills and families. It shows that they actually care about all of their clientele, and not just parts of it.
  25. My favorite's still Sky Screamer at Marineland. It's one of the combo towers on top of this big hill. You get really amazing views of Niagara Falls and the surrounding countryside. Power Tower at Cedar Point and the combo tower at Six Flags Mexico would round out the top three.
