  1. If they do repaint it, I really don't think they should use the same color for the track and the supports unless it's white. For some reason, an all white coaster entices me more.
  2. ^ I didn't ride the one at KBF, but I've ridden the ones at CW, CP, and Carowinds. Essentially, combine a wave swinger with an observation tower. The pair make an odd match that's not quite a thrill ride, but not a family ride. It's a really interesting experience that's difficult to describe. You just have to ride it for yourself. I personally find them to be very relaxing, but unnerving at the same time.
  3. ^ Reading this made me think of those TV commercials where George Takei looks at the colors and goes "OH MY!"
  4. For a few parks.... Kennywood: FIX NOAH'S ARK. GET IT WORKING FULLY. (Sorry, I've been watching this ride deteriorate for a few years...) Six Flags America: Please fill the empty grass lot between Batwing and Superman. Canada's Wonderland: Please retrack Wild Beast. It's way too rough for how small it is. Michigan's Adventure: There's a lovely swamp area behind the park. A scenic walking path would be wonderful. Kings Island: Make the Bat a greatly themed attraction!
  5. SFOT's Holiday in the Park 12/28 and 12/29! It's my college graduation trip!
  6. ^ It's a pretty good coaster. It's just a shame there's a trim at the end of the helix that's a little too heavy. Even though there's great airtime at the end, it could be a lot better.
  7. Thankful for TPR and all of the amazing things that Robb and Elissa do. Ever since I've been involved with TPR, I've been to many new parks, rode many new coasters, been to two new countries, and made a lot of great friends. Can't wait to see what the future holds!
  8. In the PBS documentary "Great Old Amusement Parks," they mention that it was more than $50,000 to paint the Giant Dipper at SCBB. That was back in 1999, so it's probably much more than that now.
  9. ^ It's definitely a great ride. For me, it's a toss up between Roar and Wild One.
  10. ^ Very true. I still think of it as Superman myself and the colors don't help. I believe they should repaint and rename it. Ride of Steel is just terrible and lazy.
  11. I don't have a picture, but I really liked the lead car for Roar-O-Saurus at Story Land. It actually makes me want to make the 12 hour drive to ride it (although it's highly unlikely that I will )
  12. ^ Even though it's not at the top, that is an excellent ride. I rode it for the first time this year just after a heavy rain, and the forces were great!
  13. ^ I really enjoyed the head-chopper effects on Gatekeeper. I wish Dollywood would have tried to incorporate one of them because they're really interesting. On Gatekeeper, you always heard more screams during the cutouts.
  14. ^ For some reason it's tough sometimes to catch it open. I've seen it closed a lot when it was supposed to be open. It's not as bad anymore. Fortunately, it's a great ride with some great views of Deep Creek.
  15. It could also use a NAME that isn't a reference.
  16. Great TR! Brings back some great memories of that tour! I wish I would've been able to go to the Museo Nacional de Antropologia, but I just didn't have the time.
  17. Superman is a pretty good coaster, but definitely not one of my favorites. When I first rode it back in 2005, I thought it was boring. Last year, I found it running pretty well. The one at Darien Lake is better though.
  18. ^^ Exactly. Even with the tilt, I'm not a huge fan of it. Dropping right onto my crotch wasn't a particularly amazing experience.
  19. Man....I wish I had some time to go to Christmas Town. I have a season pass and haven't been to the park since May (was planning to go more, but didn't work out). It would be nice to have a good visit to the park this year (first time got rained out, and lost my cell phone on Alpengeist the second).
  20. Hmmm....I have a few to contribute. I'll stay away from the SLCs and Boomerangs. Wild Beast at Canada's Wonderland Steel Phantom at Kennywood Raging Wolf Bobs at Geauga Lake Son of Beast at Kings Island Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa Nighthawk at Carowinds Wildcat at Hersheypark
  21. I go skiing and visit my local alpine coaster that's 45 minutes away. I've started to try to get to at least one park during off season. SFOT for Holiday in the Park is less than a month away!
  22. ^ Now they have few issues with it. I never saw it operate at all on my visits during its debut season. I wasn't able to get on the damn thing until 2007!
  23. Try riding Acrophobia at SFOG. It'll give you a good scare once it tilts. I'm not afraid of drop towers, and it scared me on my first ride!
  24. I've only done US, Canada, and Mexico to date. Both of my international adventures were thanks to TPR. US Favorites: Millennium Force and El Toro Worsts: Hypersonic XLC and Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain Canada Favorite: Leviathan Worsts: Flight Deck and Wild Beast (the roughest coasters to date for me) Mexico Favorite: MontaƱa Infinitum Worst: Boomerang at Six Flags Mexico (my god....the headbanging.....)
  25. ^^ I don't understand everyone's problem with Gatekeeper's harness. I rode it on the media day and at CoasterMania with no problems. The harness on it was miles better than Wild Eagle's. I had indents on my shoulders from it being so tight.
