Worst Ride Name
GwaziBSRider1 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Probably mentioned before, but Cheetah Hunt. Every time I see that name I think "Come on, Busch Gardens. REALLY?" -

It's probably not going to be much. A banner and maybe a mention of it on the park maps. 50 is a big year, though... I'd doubt they'd even do that much. There was one year that a lot of rides had anniversaries (2011, I believe), and they barely mentioned anything about it. I think they just gave them all special ERT during CoasterMania and nothing else. -
^ You've hit the nail on the head! When I rode the one at SFGAdv, I thought it was neat, but not spectacular. SFM's has ALL of the effects working in it. There's at least twice as much in there as the one at SFGAdv. Also, the trims are off, so you get crazy laterals and airtime. The only problem with it is watching that damn preshow in Spanish.

^ That's a really good idea. Floorless coasters are amazing, and it would be an incredible addition to that park. -

^ Here, here! I love them too, but I won't say that I want to see them in every park. -
Amusement Ride Breakdown!
GwaziBSRider1 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remembered another interesting breakdown for me. I was at Hersheypark riding the Reese's Challenge shooting dark ride. This was the ride's first season. I don't think it has it now, but there was a small hill right before the station with a gate of targets around it. My car came down the drop and didn't make it over the hill. Before they turned the ride off (which was a longer than they should have), the whole car had maxed their points. It was still the only time I've ever valleyed on a ride, and I believe maintenance came and pushed the car over the hill so it could return to the station. -

^^ The reason Cedar Point's isn't larger is because that was an existing Radisson hotel. Eventually, they converted it from a regular hotel into Castaway Bay. I'm sure if they would have built it from scratch, it would have been larger (especially now with the competition from Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge, and the other one they just built in Sandusky). -
Least favorite coaster element.

The inclined dive loop. It's the inversion that took me many rides on Hydra to figure out if I was actually going upside down. -
Photo TR: WFChris's Mexico Trips!

Dammit, Bill! I look horrible in that photo! Regardless, this was a great TR! You brought back a lot of memories for me (even though it just happened in March). It really captured all of the little things that one tends to forget. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
GwaziBSRider1 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ The poor reviews of restraints only kept me away for its opening season, especially after the reports of Hershey making adjustments. The only reason I didn't make it up there this year was because of lack of time. -

Exactly. Cedar Fair has been working with Intamin for many years. One of the earliest Intamin coasters is Jr. Gemini at Cedar Point. They've had a lot of successes since then. -

As long as you avoid Saturday's, Hersheypark in the Dark is one of the best times of the year to go to the park. Almost half price admission compared to the summer and other than the water rides everything is open plus low crowds on Friday or Sunday. Oh yeah. I always go for Hersheypark in the Dark. Although, I always went on Saturdays and never found it to be very crowded, but maybe that's changed since I've last been. -

Banshee is looking as amazing as always. Can't wait to ride this thing in the Spring. -

I'm glad they chose the lapbar trains for this ride. As much as I liked Steel Hawg, the harness did dig into my shoulders quite a bit. -

The last time I was at Hersheypark was the debut season for Fahrenheit. I was tempted to go back last year because of Skyrush, but all of the reports about painful restraints kept me away. Looks like I'll be heading up there next October for Hersheypark in the Dark.
