  1. Jack Rabbit (40') and Racer (72.5') at Kennywood are both missing.
  2. Cedar Point did that so Raptor wouldn't have any direct competition. Other parks have done deals just like it. For example, Disney has the rights for S&S upward launched towers in southern California (even though they removed their ride years ago). It's to get people to go to their park instead of their competition.
  3. I took a look at that park on RCDB, and they currently have four family and kiddie coasters. For a "big" thrill ride for a small park, I think this coaster will work well. I'm glad this coaster will find a new home.
  4. I've got a few parks I could consider to be my home park, now that I've moved. I've got an Alpine coaster 20 min north of me, but the closest park is Idlewild. Kennywood, Lakemont, and DelGrosso's are all about equal distance. I'd consider Kennywood my home park, as it was when I lived in West Virginia. However, I go to Cedar Point enough to consider it to be my "home away from home" park.
  5. I found the Great Movie Ride to be very dull as well. The slow pace is fine and dandy through the scenes of Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain, Casablanca, etc., but for scenes like Alien...just no. I think they have a great concept, but it just needs to be modernized.
  6. ^ The only other one I can even think of (besides the indoor coasters) is the Yosemite Sam dark ride at SFOT, and it's nothing to write home about.
  7. ^ The Boomerang at La Ronde had its restraints open a few years ago. SOURCE
  8. ^^ Southern West Virginia is incredibly beautiful, but be warned that I-77 is in INCREDIBLY bad condition (especially on the toll sections). Also, you could hit up the charming, but sketchy Camden Park in Huntington.
  9. The last time I was here was in 2009, and I'm debating on visiting the park on 12/12 and 12/13 this year as well as doing Legoland on 12/14. How will the crowds be?
  10. I've been thinking about this again, and I remembered Darien Lake being really bad when I visited in 2012 with TPR. It seemed like everything in the park broke down at least once and all of the dispatches were incredibly slow.
  11. Kennywood's was built in 1999, whereas SFA's was built in 2004 (when Reverchon was bought out by Zamperla). They both have the same style of trains. I rode it last year with three of my friends, and we were all in the same car. In fact, when the ride has a huge line, they make sure to fill up as many cars as possible (it was not uncommon to see it with 4 hour lines back in the day).
  12. From the Carowinds thread...
  13. ^ I would imagine that it would be very crowded, since it's Halloween. Saturday will be extremely crowded as well. Personally, I wouldn't go without a FastLane+, but that's just me. If it does get too cold, yes, they will start to shut down rides. 42-45 degrees is the temperature range where rides will start to close. You may want to contact the park and ask them about their temperature policy if there's a cold forecast.
  14. I've ridden both Intamin giga counterparts, and while I have the same general opinions about each ride (MF is not very forceful, but has it's moments, I-305 is balls to the wall intensity and some airtime), I actually slightly prefer Millennium Force. I know, I know, enthusiasts say it's overrated, "Millennium Forceless." However, IMO, the ride experience is very well rounded and probably the most re-rideable coaster I've ridden. I had some truly incredible night rides in August that really tipped the scales and solidified my opinion. Those rides gave me that tingly feeling, that feeling from the olden days when MF was seen as THE coaster, or when you drive up the CP causeway for the first time. My point is, intensity isn't everything. Fury 325 looks to be a very solid coaster from the renderings and stats. Let's wait until we ride it to judge it. My feelings exactly.
  15. Bill, did you have to take a spare set of luggage for your souvenirs? You picked up an awesome collection! That salty licorice is a LOT of fun to prank people with, especially people that love the normal stuff. I bought some online for my mom. Her face: PRICELESS.
  16. I'll rank my seven. Worst to Best 7. Flight Deck - CW. Easily THE most painful ride I've ever experienced. NEVER. AGAIN. 6. Mind Eraser - DL. Brutal. 5. Mind Eraser - SFA. Nice amount of headbanging. 4. Thunderhawk - MiA. It ran a lot better at GL, and I'm sure it will get much worse. 3. Mind Eraser - SFNE. This one wasn't as bad as I expected. Still not good. 2. Batman the Ride - SFM. Of all the ones with the older style trains, this one is the least painful. It's still nothing special. 1. Fly the Great Nor'easter - Morey's. I actually really enjoy this coaster. It's still fairly rough, but it's like rough sex: it's so much fun.
  17. I'm sure it will be very similar to Leviathan.
  18. ^^ A coaster like Kennywood's Sky Rocket would work really well here.
  19. ^ Bith rides are terrible. I say farewell, Opryland!
  20. That building looks absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to eat there!
