Theres nothing special about those drops at all. Its what I would call a large family ride! -
what coaster did you severely underestimate
viking86 replied to methos's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Definately Wild Train @ Erlebnispark Strasswalchen. I knew it was going to be a bit more than your average family coaster from looking at the pictures, but I never expected the craziness of that ride. I never thought I could ride a 40 feet tall coaster 37 times in one day without being bored! -
Apollo's chariot pumping on first drop?

^^You forgot the "extreme pumping" on the turn after the final brakerun -
What is the worst B&M/intamin/GCI
viking86 replied to christianscoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
B&M: Not been on any bad ones, but one of the trains on Katun was rattling pretty bad last year. Intamin: Colossus @ Thorpe Park. It rattles like crazy and the ride sounds like a car-crash. The restraints are horrible and really makes your ears hurt. It could have been pretty good with more comfortable restraints. GCI: Not been on any... -
Photo Trip Report- Terra Mitica
viking86 replied to CGM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice pictures! Terra Mitica is easily one of the most beatiful parks Ive ever been to. I totally hated Magnus Colossus. Even the double-drop sucked compared to what it could have been. And the rest of the ride was boring as hell. I enjoyed Tizona though, but it was only a few months old when I rode it. It did have a little bit of headbanging, but the soft padding around the ears prevented any possible pain. The park does need some better coasters though..... -

The ride looks stunning! Hopefully they get everything sorted out because it looks like a very fun ride. It may be a family ride, but all the theming and special effects put into this ride really makes me wanna ride it! -
Apollo's chariot pumping on first drop?
viking86 replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Many steel coasters develops vibrations as they age. This goes for both B&M's and Intamins. Its all a question of maintenance. When I rode Katun last year, they were running two trains and one of them gave a very smooth ride while the other had quite alot of vibrations. -

Great pictures! It looks like a very nice park. I LOVE the theming on the chairswing! Oh and you just gotta love those Schwarzkopf Looping Star's. They are some truly fantastic rides! -

Nice pictures! Its nice to see the park adding more rides, because there was really a lack of things to do when I was there last year. Hopefully they'll attract more visitors now so they can improve ride operations. And maybe someday they can remove the X-Crap area and build something nice down there instead. Like a coaster maybe..... -
Great pictures! It looks like an excellent fair! Yngve "lucky bastards" Oestbye

Lost Schwarzkopf - BMRX comes to the UK?
viking86 replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nah thats Mexico. I havent checked RCDB, but I know plenty of Schwarzkopf's that have been removed from the UK... -
The only park I have been to in the rain is Tusenfryd. It was only light rain so all rides were open. They even ran both trains on Speedmonster and Thundercoaster, with both rides being near walk-on. Nothing beats having Supersplash to ourselfes in the rain though

The coasters arent that great, but the rest of the park is fantastic in my opinion. I know several people who have had problems with customer service, but I had 1 1/2 great day in that park. Beatiful scenery and a good selection of rides. Add a good coaster or two and you have a top quality park! -

Another Big Boom Coaster

I was looking for pictures of that coaster earlier today, but I couldnt find them. I think its safe to call it "The worst banking on a coaster EVER!" -

Great pictures! Prater is such a great place. The coasters arent that great, with Megablitz being the best one by far with its amazing helixes, but the atmosphere and all the weirdness makes it the most interesting park I have ever been to. On our guided backstage tour last summer we were told of that cat. It does infact live inside the structure. -
Lost Schwarzkopf - BMRX comes to the UK?
viking86 replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
According to RCDB statistics, BMRX is 86 feet tall while Vekoma Invertigo's are 160 feet tall so I dont see whats weird about that. Anyway, f they dont add any theming to the ride I hope they paint it with some brighter colours. Once again, Yay for Jetline's little brother coming to Europe! -
Breaking news! Vekoma discovers.....
viking86 replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once again, this is nothing new! Vekoma started using outside wheels on their family coaster in the 80's. -

Nice pictures! I loved Looping Star when I rode it last year. Btw, Im soooo dissappointed that you didnt visit Erlebnispark Strasswalchen on the trip. Its not that far from Salzburg Looking forward to the pictures from Prater. It really is an amazing place! -
Liseberg Discussion Thread
viking86 replied to viking86's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There was nothing Liseberg could have done to prevent the accident, BUT I have to question how quickly the staff reacted to it since two logs were allowed to go down the drop after she fell. I can understand the first one as it came only seconds later, but they should have been able to stop the second log. Doesnt all log flumes have brakes before big drops?? -
Lethal Weapon Pursuit closed for good
viking86 replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
According to RCDB.com this ride opened in 1996. Viper @ SFGADV opened in 1995, which makes it the first coaster with a heartline roll with cars placed above the track instead of between the tracks. -
A 33-year old woman fell out of the drop on FlumeRide yesterday, the log flume at Liseberg this weekend. She paniced and tried to get out of the boat before the final drop and fell out. She came down the drop and was hit by the next boat. She suffered critical head injuries. Heres a couple of swedish news articles. One of them shows how the accident happened: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/goteborg/story/0,2789,903156,00.html http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/goteborg/story/0,2789,903210,00.html This is the third accident at Liseberg this year. Earlier this year 21 people were injured when a train rolled backwards on the lifthill on Lisebergbanan and crashed into a train in the station. A 45-year old man was also injured at Liseberg this year when a flagpole fell and hit him in the head.
