The "Say Something Random" Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
What if companies discovered coasters could still break speed records if they reversed the trains, thus eliminating harmful winds and increasing aerodynamics...? Also, I love rice. -
Probably because it's the Canadian company, WhiteWater, that sells the most aqualoops, while Aquarena were the ones who pioneered it. I do like how Aquarena are pushing things when it comes to innovating water slides, like the Doppellooping slide they've made at a few water parks in Europe. Source Or one of their latest concepts!

Edit: ^What the hell did I just wach, and why did I enjoy it so much! That badger song was wonderful! I've never been more scared of a piano song that has sheet music in my entire life... [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

Wouldn't hurt to make a thread where you could talk about the whole water park/slide industry as a whole, especially for things like the two polin threads that had no replies to (here and here). I'm a huge fan of these companies, and love keeping up with what they spit out next. As for the aqualoops and super loops, I've never been on one. But I am hopefully due to ride one sometime in august with the dual ones that are built atop the Norwegian Breakaway ship. My second cruise, and my first aqualoops! As far as I know, the Aqualoops have been slowly, but surely built up their reputation in the US. But since then, they've slowed down, and parks are looking more towards super-loops (and even Splashtacular's insane takes on them with Six Flags). As far as I've counted (I may be wrong), there's only one superloop in the west coast and no aqualoops. There's (I think) eight aqualoops in the east coast, and I lost count of east coast super loops. Sorry if it seems like I've bumped a dead thread.

The ship look absolutely stunning, and I'd do anything to sail on one of Disney's ships! Here's one thing I noticed though. On the last rendered pic, I noticed the AquaDunk looks oddly like it was, at first, meant to be an Aqualoop? I do favor the new design over the inclined helix for multiple reasons, but out of curiosity why do you think they changed it?

Alton Towers Discussion Thread

^Maybe dying pixels might add to the theme later on when dirt and paint chipping might attack? I've had a love of coasters that go all-out nuts in terms of insane layouts, and to name a few off the top of my head: Spongebob's Rock Bottom Plunge, Flight of Fear, i305 (those wicked transitions), and Montu. I'm now starting to realize that this was probably what this coaster was built for, and will probably successfully top all of the before mentioned ones. Heck, this might be the first to get me actually sick (if I ever get to ride it). In short, what a mess of track that is! -
High school social studies teachers would start have very interesting subjects to talk about... If every large-sized amusement park became their own countries. (Think abou the one in Florida too...)

I, myself, have read the report countless number of times just for the entertainment, and sadly for the same reason as above. I've only been on one cruise in my life, and it was on RCL's Monarch of the Seas, which I later learned after the cruise it was one of Royal's smallest ships. There wasn't a huge amount of things to do on the ship, but it sure wasn't anything like what you guys had experienced by a long shot! I actually enjoyed the cruise. Thanks for doing the trip in the first place, and shedding light on how bad cruises can really get. Also thanks for shedding light on the possibility of making bad things fun when you're with the "right" people.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^I agree as well. I went to Holiwood Nights for the first time in 2011 and found Voyage to be sorta brutal. I had the Legend ranked higher because of it, sadly. On the second day of the event, my dad picked the Voyage to be his first coaster there, and didn't ride any more rides after it that day (every time I bring up Holiday World, to this day, he still complains they need a steel coaster ). 2012 changed my ranking for the coaster greatly because it felt much, much smoother. Thanks to that, it now currently sits in my top-five list for favorite roller coasters! -
Someone mentioned earlier about Voyage at Holiday World. This example is one of the better ones I can think of for a coaster with the best mixture of airtime hills in it. Floaters on the first set of hills, then a mixture of more sudden, sometimes ejectors on the run back. Also, every B&M hyper I've been on has had an amazing amount of airtime that usually never result in ejectors, like Diamondback at KI or Goliath at SFOG. This also heavily depends on the seat and restraint for me. B&M hyper seats and lap bars offer a slight reclined seating with your feet barely touching the floor, if at all. That makes it a much more relaxing ride for times you're gravitating out of your seat for extended periods. Something like a wooden coaster where you're usually sitting more upright might be a more comfortable position for someone to embrace for ejector airtime, especially if there might be a slight gap between you and the lap-bar, or if the restraint gives some slack. Between the two, I prefer ejector. Just as long as it doesn't try to snap my spine in half, like a bad experience I had on S:RoS at SFA involving a stapled lap bar.

Coming out of one of the tunnels should be a loop much like Son of Beast's, before diving back into a tunnel! I think this section would suffice: Plenty of speed. No? -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

^A few pages back, they've discussed about how they switch from soft wheels that run a slower train, and hard wheels run a faster train. I can only imagine how much of a difference it would make with hard wheels and how fast it would take those inversions. I also agree about the coaster. Looks stunning! I'm not really a big fan of the look of the entrance to be honest, even if there is a B&M winger flying through. But the coaster itself looks like great fun! -

Because if you can afford to have a better time than others, you have no morals and are probably one step closer to going to hell. Remember, "he" always watches as you buy those fast lane tickets. -

All the "cool" wooden coasters are doing it. (I kid. Voyage is too cool for an inversion. ) -
NEW TPR Video Every Day in April!
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This seems to be one of those rides that I completely forgot existed, and whenever it might have popped up in my mind, thought it was built somewhere in the united States at a small park. Very "unique" to say the least, and something I wished had been built in other locations as well. Looks very fun, and possibly something that could still be turned into another design type. -

I agree, great report. I'm a sucker for water slides, and love seeing different companies' slides. Thanks for sharing your report. -
Best Roller Coaster "Moments"
Midgetman82 replied to Randomman295's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Rock n' Roller Coaster's initial launch is one of my favorite starts of any roller coaster I've ever been on. The forces on the launch, followed by the welcoming to pitch blackness with the flashing of the ride photo camera going makes it somehow magical. If only more indoor launched coasters could do something like this. Also, the dark tunneled triple dip on Voyage caught me the first time I went on it. I never expected to go down three times right after the mid course brakes, and that brought wonderfully unexpected airtime on each drop! Also, the fact that the coaster does not let up until you reach the end (with only the mid course brakes to slightly catch your breath.) makes it the most adventurous roller coaster I've ever ridden as well.
