  1. For a guy who has family that lives in Atlanta and has been to both parks plenty of times, I'd have to say that the city can successfully sustain two water parks. One water park will always be better than the other, in my opinion, and for many nit-picky reasons including one being able to sustain more people than the other (and provide more shade). I think they'll both be fine for quite a while.
  2. Beautiful, beautiful lap bars! Maybe now S&S can start building more of these puppies in more parks, and compete with Gerstlauer? Also was the ride originally planned to have an onboard sound system?
  3. ^^ What about those spinning splash battle ones. Either one of those would do wonders in that area of the park! Dang, you got it! Wait till you see the new Sally dark ride we have planned ... take a ride through the labor and delivery process over the centuries. It'll be a screamer! I hope I'm not getting the wrong idea of what you meant...
  4. I'll be in the minority and cast Wicked Twister as my favorite, Millenium Force second, Maverick third, Gatekeeper Fourth, and TTD Fifth.
  5. So uh, I'm just now hearing of this after seeing a small link WhiteWater West posted on their Facebook account. After doing some light digging, there had been many photos already posted on the construction of what will probably make one of the world's best water parks (in my opinion) even better. Article by The National Photo Gallery The UAE has definitely made heavy attempts at going above and beyond when it comes to the amusement industry (or in anything for that matter). For me, this tops it. I already loved what the water park has, but seeing all of these new additions to it just makes me very, very eager to make a return trip someday (and going with TPR would probably make it 1000x better if I could afford it ).
  6. There's a Matterhorn ride there that looked pretty boring, but they also have a different Himalaya as well. I rode that one, and it was actually pretty decent, with one of the bumps giving slight airtime! My neck was a little sore from keeping my head up, though. The video finally finished uploading if anyone's interested. 8 minutes of all of the major rides from this year.
  7. Norwegian Breakaway cruise on August 4th. Here's some snippets from the adventure that I personally liked.
  8. ^Wouldn't keep me from visiting though, if I could. True, the comments are definitely negative, but great report nonetheless. I had completely forgotten the park received new flats since Rumblr, the water park expansion, and the removal of the Pinfari. I need to make a visit to the park. Those tires on the dragon coaster were probably re-used from either the previous year, or they've just worn out really easily from this whole year. Either way, I bet they're just letting hem be that way until they get to close the park so they could replace them. 'Tis a guess though.
  9. A little off-topic from the park itself. I'll try to keep it short: So, the Kentucky State Fair is currently running until the 25th. I had the chance to go in the afternoon of the 18th and practically spent my entire time in the Thrillway area (where the rides were) due to the wristbands being the cheapest to purchase on this day, and me wanting to take advantage of it. If I wasn't riding a ride, I was filming for a video I wanted to do as well. I haven't been back to the fair since 2011, and since then it seemed to have been toned down in terms of how many extreme rides they have set up. Rides like the Inverter, Spin Out, Remix, and the spinning Wild Maus (before that, it was a Pinfari) weren't there anymore. Instead, they were replaced with a new small drop tower called High Jacker, an extra 1001 Nachts (a Rainbow-type ride) and what was actually my favorite newest addition there, the star flyer called Vertigo. Name at the tip-top. The base Rotates just like Sparkler at Holiday World. The ride is about the same height as Sparkler at Holiday World. The seats on this ride were actually more comfortable than Sparkler's. The biggest (and so far only) turnoff for this ride is the restraint system. In addition to the necessary bar, they have a chest belt. Keeps riders from leaning forwards during the ride. It's good in a sense that it allows parents to be more comfortable in letting their smaller kids ride without the fear of them possibly hanging over the edge, but is a small annoyance. What I loved here is that they took a garden hose, hooked a nozzle at the end, set it on mist spray, and hung it on the backboard to wet riders on Wipeout! High Jacker. Didn't ride it, but looks like it gives a pretty good scare. Vertigo doing its thing. Almost left the fair that night and forgot to take a photo of the ferris wheel. I parked at the nearest lot and snapped a few photos. They had bright lights set up in the station of Greezed Lightnin' (the only thing still standing of the coaster other than some fences, may it rest in peace) and they pointed at the giant wheel. Like stated, it changed to a few colors very often. (Side note: Yay for trying out the multi-file uploader for the first time! Works beautifully! )
  10. Doubt it. I'm pretty sure tracks are designed with the coaster trains in mind (weight, dimensions, aerodynamics, etc). It'd probably not be a very good choice if they did, imo. Maple syrup on bacon?
  11. Norwegian Breakaway has a party literally called "Dress Up Or Not." I watched it on the television in the stateroom (since I accidentally missed it) and they were doing interviews like it was a red carpet event, with people in the background walking in and out of a club (which I couldn't remember which it was). A lot of guys in the background wore anything between a t-shirt, a tank-top, or a button-down shirt, with cargo shorts (no kakis in site). Some girls (especially the ones that were interviewed) wore dresses, and a few mentioned that they were in their prom dresses! I see that Norwegian is trying to be more lenient in wanting to accommodate guests with the want to dress in their version of "casual," which was probably along the lines of cargo shorts and a t-shirt. But luckily I never really saw anybody in any of their higher-end restaurants wear anything less than a dress, and honestly, you'd probably not be allowed in those restaurants with anything less in quality. Outside of clothing issues, the ship had a very, very, VERY mixed audience, varying between the classy and possibly rich, the familes with over-excited-and-sometimes-screaming kids, and (quite literally) drunk-out-of-their-mind young adults (I ended up in an elevator with a guy being propped by his parents, before emptying his stomach in front of my shoes; forcing me to exit one floor above my destination...).
  12. ^It's a theater with moving seats, and the shows were never 3D as far as I could remember. Motion simulators aren't all the rave when they've been showing the same film for years, but they can use it to have better potential now that theaters are bumping up to 4D, 5D, and yes 6D (I think I heard one was trying for 7D, which makes absolutely no sense to me).
  13. I did post screenshots of the proposed concepts for the water park many pages back, here's the link to the post. Not sure if they're still sticking with it, but I hope for that and the extra they mentioned!
  14. Yes it is, actually. They told me filming was allowed on all slides but the FreeFall, so I took advantage of it.
  15. Never been on it, but that extra punch in the gut doesn't sound like it adds much to the experience. Vekoma takes up TOGO's Ultra Twister coaster designs, and your local park buys one from them. Would you ride it?
  16. I loved the Monarch! It was actually one of the best vacations I've ever taken. Having finished the Norwegian cruise yesterday, I have to say that it would feel less exhausting cruising on it since there's less of a ship to take-in and explore. Big ships are great, but as small as the Monarch is, it sure has some upper advantages that other enormous cruises don't have. I don't think I could really explain it without using paragraphs.
  17. Absolutely not. Better safe than sorry. If there's something that could be altered with NTAG for safety reasons, they'd probably do the same for Iron Rattler; and maybe other parks with similar coasters would follow suit. Maybe. Go to a water park in the rain?
  18. Sour gummy worms tops it if I'm in the mood for them. Otherwise, I could have a Twix bar anytime.
  19. Great update. I'd love to do the things you guys did, not so much for the beer (call me crazy, or not old enough yet...) but everything else seemed wonderful. Yard Sale: The Ride seems like something I should place on my bucketlist right away.
  20. The park looks more amazing with their very impressive lineup. I'd love to see how the coaster turns out once it's complete. Also, you got me at the Spa Land reference!
  21. Thought I should drop by to say that I'm currently on the Norwegian Breakaway ship headed for Bermuda. Already been to almost every corner of the ship, starting to try out the restaurants, and don't ask how many times I've been down the slides. I'm about an hour and a half away from my appointment to the ship's ice bar, and my brother (who's already been in it) tells me it's almost too cold for him. Extra jacket it is. Sure is a step up from my first cruise 4 years ago on Royal's Monarch of the Seas in terms of the ship, but I hope the one destination is going to be as good as the two on the previous ship.
  22. ^^I'll admit, I did not see that one coming at all. Weird knowing Rocky Mountain Construction was pulled in, but also great to hear that they were!
  23. ^Considering the SkyCoaster was 180 feet tall, I'd say somewhere right under 200'.
