So far the only one I've ever been on was the 180ft one at Kentucky Kingdom. Scariest thing I've ever done at an amusement park, and I loved it completely! The point when you pull the ripcord and when the lift cable detaches, you hang mid-air for a fraction of a second before you're falling face-first towards the ground! The drop was only surprising and the rest of the ride was fun. The scariest part of it seemed to have been the lift up, when the ground gets further and further away from you! I always closed my eyes on the way up thinking "I'm almost there!"

Has a waterslide ever scared you?
Midgetman82 replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As much of a water slide enthusiast as I am, this would send me into shivers waiting in line! I got over my fear of plummet slides and am awaiting the day I can get over enclosed speed slides. My last step seems to be trying one of those trap-door slides as well! Every other slide I have absolutely no problem getting on whatsoever. It's just the tunneled body slides. -
That looks really interesting. I love it when ride vehicles roll on the floor by themselves. It's so creepy yet cool! The front outer seats seem like they would have your legs facing inwards though, possibly squishing them with whomever is sitting in the two middle seats. I only observed this through the 11 photo from the top.

Well, someone should present this idea to the fairboard, imo. I don't think they know of this combination, and having an indoor water park in kentucky would be pretty cool. Just my thoughts though. It would also work out during fall and Winter when Holiday World shuts down their world class water park.

^ Has me staring more at your Rarity icon. < Can't draw diddly-squat on his tablet. v Is probably bored, like me.

There was theming on Pilgrims Plunge? And those smaller slides are supposed to be like regular inner tube slides, but they're those faster versions of them with steeper helixes and speed gaining drops. Should be much better than Otorongo. Those who have been on the ones in parks like Aquatica or SFGAm's water park might know what I mean. Also, that quarter pipe slide looks great, but not as fulfilling as slides like Zinga. Still, I can't wait until it comes out! -

^^ If you look in the distance, you can see two or three coaster enthusiasts standing in the distance! Not saying I'm one of them since I'm not, I just love riding the coaster. Anyways, this popped up on the Save My Park website. Plucked highlights for those too lazy or those with too short of attention spans to read through: They plan to add a $15 million dollar roller coaster if they take over. They plan to restore the park's 37 rides and every building to high class. They will expand the water park, adding a new tower and a 30,000 square ft. attraction. If the park gets demolished, the governor wants to look into building a casino in Kentucky.

It is sad to see another Enterprise go, and I hate that no company seems to be making any more. Oh well. Those chairswings are pretty fun. I rode my first at Holiday World, the Sparkler (I know they're not the same), and liked it very much. It's not amazing, in fact it was a little more nerve wracking than it was thrilling, but it was fun nonetheless. I'm sure it'll be a hit, and with a pretty good view of the lake and Ninja and whatever else is around.

^I second this. Although, saying that almost feels like saying "the dry side needs another steel coaster." Voyage 2 or V2! -
In all honesty, it seems the fair board probably wanted to rid of the property for quite a while. It's become a large headache to them, and they don't want to have to deal with it anymore. So they're finding ways to bulldoze it, but staggering so someone with a new or better offer can appear out of the blue and take it up. They were pretty quick to have the Kochs run it.

Finally, pictures from last Saturday! Took forever to get these resized on a mac! Fitst thing I saw when I arrived. A generic overview. Carnival game booths. Here was the ACE Booth. Here I was entranced by the model roller coaster. WHAS was out and interviewing a few people. This man seemed to be the only one with a sign and chanting. He was there with family as well. This was the DJ booth that was set up right next to the stage And this is the local amusement park that's being saved. They played a lot of modern songs, including the Gangnam Style song. This was Kentucky Kingdom's old mascot, which I did not know. He's King Louie. Deluge sitting in the distance, and a bunch of birds resting on top of the tipping bucket. Interviewing the guy with the sign. Formin' the love train! Then the king needed his rest! After doing a few raffles and waiting a bit more, they started the speeches. Since I still had time to kill, I drove around the park to have a look. I did this mainly because it could be the last time I got to look at it. This is looking through a side gate. Here's the front gate. Nothing new inside. Just a few scattered leaves. I miss this ride very much. It looked like it was in decent condition from where I was standing, aside from the rusty guide railing for the queue, and how only some of the cars had tarp over them. Here's the pirate ship. Close-up. Looking through another hole in the fence, I see this. Here is where they kept a lot of parts for rides from all around the park. Enterprise. Great Balloon Race. Flying Dutchman. Even the Tin Lizzies' buggies. Greezed Lightnin'. Still one of my favorite coasters thanks to its usually short lines that gave me no waits. A very scenic path for Tin Lizzies, aside from the chain linked fence I was leaning against to get this photo. A very scenic path for Tin Lizzies, aside from the chain linked fence I was leaning against to get this photo. The last time I rode the Enterprise back i 2009, I remember it jerking a bit when it raised and lowered, which scared me a little. This ride, probably won't see the light of day without a complete refurbishment. This was probably the worst case of overgrowth I was able to see. That's about all the photos I took. The rest were a few repeats with this lens.

What's your favorite Flat ride?
Midgetman82 replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Drop towers have been, still are, and will always be my favorite type of flat rides. Intamin DT's preferred. Having said that, I rode my first true Huss top spin at Kings Dominion back in August. It's been a while since I've come off of a ride disoriented, and this ride did the job! I absolutely loved it! I also loved that fact that a lot of people were too scared to get on, which left the line often fairly short! Inward and outward spin and swinging rides are also one of my top faves. Although, the smaller Fireball at the Kentucky State fair had a really exciting ride cycle, while Delirium at Kings Island was okay. Delirium took forever to get up, imo, and it didn't stay up there for very long. The freedom within the cages of the Enterprise ride as you loop upside down multiple times is almost unbeatable. Too bad there aren't too many of them out there. I can't think of many others at the moment, but my list goes on. Pretty much any flat-ride that fit the category of being wild, crazy, and/or disorienting are great in my book (unless stated otherwise). -
Amazing water slides
Midgetman82 replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I did past internet research on finding the tallest. As far as I was able to see, that slide's has the tallest drop. It's not the tallest freestanding water slide in the world, but it is the tallest. Insano is only 49m. I explained it more here: http://waterslidedatabase.blogspot.com/2012/03/tallest-water-slides.html If you have any more pictures of it, feel free to share them. I'd like to see more of it! -
Sorry it took so long for me to respond to the "gathering." I'm going to resize the photos as soon as I can and upload them here. For now, here's a bunch of words! Okay. So Saturday I got ready for what was supposed to be a "large media" rally outside of Kentucky Kingdom. Something I expected were to be a bunch of people holding picket signs and chanting towards a speaker that stood at the front of a crowd of said 300 people. What I saw when I got there were a few hundred people (many were families with small children.) gathering on the side of the lot closest to the park, 7 booths (4 of which were home-made carnival games) and one DJ deck all set under multiple tents, and a stage se up with a backdrop of the SBNO amusement park. There was a registration table taking count of all the people that showed up at the event, and there were a few people walking around with the petition paper for get the park reopened. One of the most notable booths set up there was an ACE midwest booth, who had a few sheets for people to fill out (I forgot to see what was on them =-/ ) and a coaster dynamics model roller coaster that they had sent around a few times; and with my A.D.D. taking over, found myself entranced with watching it go a few times. Anyways, after standing around a little awkwardly for nearly an hour, and even introducing myself to one of the people at the ACE booth once, they began the speeches. It was basically what was explained in the Courier Journal article on the previous page, so I don't feel like re explaining things. I guess the true "rally" portion came in once Louisville Metro Councilman Dan Johnson started speaking. He brought up his voice during his speech. They even allowed one person from the ACE group to make a speech. And that was pretty much that. The event winded down with people and kids staying to converse and play a few games at the four home-made carnival game booths. Personally, I was pretty disappointed with the outcome, especially with how little people showed up. When they advertised a rally to save the park, I expected a somewhat larger show-up of people. But I probably shouldn't have. I was glad to help be part of the supporters and sign the petition, but I believe this Thursday is the deadline for someone to take the park up... Not say that the park is not going to be saved, but my hopes for it being revived is far from high at this point. This saga will never end. I have a question for anyone who knows or has some of an idea, what rides and attractions are in good enough shape (if any) to fix and reopen. The rides aren't even in bad shape. Inside the park, Kentucky Kingdom looks as if it has closed yesterday for the winter season believe it or not. Obviously though, the woodies and mile high falls will need some heavy work. I took a walk around the park and took a few photos that may change your opinion.

I'm about to possibly bomb a huge exam tomorrow in a class I switched majors from, I have to write a 3 page paper about a book that I've only read through 2/3 of by tomorrow, and I have about 7 homework assignments I need to make up... by tomorrow. A little something to top off my otherwise bad week.

So, Saturday the're asking for support for Kentucky Kingdom by having people show up at the bowling alley outside of the Fairground's main entrance. Since I'm not very busy this Saturday... I might actually go. Heck, maybe even take pictures. It all depends on whether I do go home from college tomorrow or not. It's very hard for me to further support Kentucky Kingdom due to the Fair Board, the state, and the current condition of the park making it so difficult to reopen it, but I wouldn't mind physically showing some kind of support for a reopening. I also don't know what's going to be there, or who's going to be there, but according to the 300+ people on Facebook who says they're going I'm thinking it might be somewhat interesting.

Two images that I took during this year's East Coast Bash are spreading like wildfire on Tumblr at this very minute. Some are nearing 10,000 notes! The kicker in this is that most of those posts don't give credit to anywhere but back to random blogs. I don't know whether to be angry because most didn't give credit, or happy because so many people like them!

Your favorite HUSS ride
Midgetman82 replied to simon8899's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First: Suspended Top Spin Second: Breakdance (It would tie with STS if I had been on one within the past 3 years.) Third: Frisbee (Or Giant Frisbee, whichever one was the one at Kings Island) Fourth: Enterprise Fifth: Rainbow The only other one I've been on is a Troika. Other than that, I haven't been on any other HUSS flat ride.
