Legoland Florida Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In terms of normal water parks, this one doesn't look half-bad. I'd sure visit it if I was visiting Legoland. I do think that the park needs another slide structure though. Maybe a family raft ride. -
^Yes, I enjoyed my fair share of having my senses beaten out of me. (I'm a local. 30 minutes from the park.) Honestly, I enjoyed the ride. Probably because I was able to tolerate a little more of the roughness it provided... and because I always sat at the back of the train and braced as hard as I could. It's quite sad to hear this news really. Almost everyone I know (most teenagers, some adults too) have started to appreciate KY Kingdom a little more due to it being closed. Before, they would always make comments saying about how it was the worst amusement park ever and other general park-goer mumbo-jumbo. Now, they don't have an amusement park at all (within Louisville), so now they talk more about the good times they've had at the park. I went to Lexington for a college visit today (Thursday), and I spoke with the tour guide about the park and she told me that she missed the park as well. KY Kingdom may have not one of the best parks to visit within the 2 hour vicinity of Louisville, but it's better than not having one at all. As for losing rides such as T2, then the park would be losing one of it's most intense... no... the park most intense roller coaster. Of course, it would not be missed very much. Those who have experienced it and remember it well, would probably skip it if they ever came back to the park. Greezed Lightnin' will be missed (at least by me). Sure it was often always a walk-on, but it's a rare coaster. It's the park's only launched coaster, only ride that inverts with lap-bar restraints, and the only coaster that goes backwards. Edit: lol, replace noodles with restra.ints

^Everyone was at Mammoth, less a line at Wildebeest?! Thanks for the written report. I'm super excited to be able to ride it when I get to Holiwood Nights. Looks amazing, and Sparkler sounds like something I expected. Nothing amazing due to its size, but still a nice addition to the park. -

^I'll say! I've never ever visited Disney World when there was few people there. -
PHOTOSHOP CONTEST!!! Win some crap!
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
... hmm... I guess if the t-shirts didn't draw me in, the KY Kingdom map should have. Congratulations, and have fun finding out whatever is in the DVD! -
Gahh. He put it during the week I have my final exams at school... If only I had my finals this week instead.

^The opposite for me, I thought it was going to be a little taller. Still, it looks like a lot of fun, and something to be able to get a good view since it's at the top of the hill (as long as the trees don't block too much). The Voyage last year was honestly kinda brutal. I was able to go for 5 rides (each of them non-consecutive) last year. My dad rode it once and called it quits for the rest for the day. It was too much for him. I still love the Voyage, and i'm glad to hear it's smoother in parts. -
Both Miragica and Rainbow Magicland look beautiful! And I don't know if I'll ever be that desperate for a coaster credit! Thanks for the report!

^Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to use them on my next visit whenever that may be! And I visit my pillow plenty of times! Oh, and I do have this photo of the log flume. The turn before the big drop. I should have ridden this thing now that I think about it. -
Best Drops....

Sheikra is my #1 favorite first drop coaster. Next is a tie between Rock Bottom plunge and Dare Devil Dive. Dare Devil Dive Rock Bottom Plunge -
Ha ha! Thanks for viewing that. I guess you're the guy that just followed me on Twitter!

Wow! Seems like there are some really nice people that work there, along with the interesting rides. I long to have a random foreign ride operator bring me a cup of coffee! Very interesting report!

It's a Rokinon 8mm Fish-Eye lens. I felt like trying something different for a change, and I really liked how it turned out. But that's just my opinion! -

I can agree. The ride is actually kinda rough in the front seats, but rough in an enjoyable way... If that makes any sense! -
I'm a few weeks late on posting this here, but I guess better late than never, right? I sure hope so. Anyways, Spring Break was around the corner and this Kentucky teenager didn't make any plans with his family on what to do. When the question on what should we (as in my dad and I) should do popped up, I 'suggested' Mall of America as a choice. My dad then booked round-trip for us to fly to Minnesota and back within the same day. As crazy as the idea sounded, it couldn't have worked out more perfectly! April 5, 2012 5:00am we woke up and caught our flights. Soon we landed and had a Taco Bell breakfast. At 10:00am, we boarded the shuttle train that lead straight out of the airport and into the mall. You see those red poles in front of both trains? You see the red pole that almost got ran over by the train? We were on that train. The entrance wasn't as grandiose as I had imagined, but that was probably because we came in through the bac- err, I mean the super-secret V.I.P. entrance All of the rides opened at 10:30am, and it was about 10:15 at the time My dad backed out on riding the rides, and got me the wristband Obligatory self-portrait Fairly Odd Coaster. First ride I rode, and my first Gerstlauer spinner. Would have been better if I was not riding with two random kids sitting opposite of me. I would have marathoned it all day if they installed on-board speakers and played "My Shiny Teeth and Me!" Then, I rode what has to be the best compact steel coaster I've ever been on. Totally insane, and I LOVED it! Next up was the record holder for the longest coaster train in America (Well, it ties with Jaguar at KBF) TMNT Shell Shock was closed during my visit. I guess I'll have to come back some day to ride it. Oh Well. More photos of this ride later. Next ride, fire benders versus air benders in this Intamin Half-Pipe coaster. First time on one of these too, and it absolutely rocked! So much hang-time! Next, I saw something even more disappointing than Shell Shock's closure. The carriages to Brain Surge were completely removed. I was really looking forward to trying this thing. This gave some good butterflies on each drop Within the queue for Splat-o-Sphere I then checked in with my dad, switched to my normal lens, and walked back to Shell Shock. It would take a few words of encouragement to get me on this thing... Instead, I opted for Rock Bottom Plunge for the second time! *ahem*... nerd shot. I'll attempt to spare you the plethora of RBP photos. I've never really been to a place that would be enjoyable for, literally, ALL ages. Perfect temperature, plus amazing rides, plus not having to leave to get good food, plus... well, many things I can't think of right now. In short, I just can't stress how amazing I thought this park was! Second time riding this. Got more spin from this ride, which made it a heck of a lot better. Soon, my dad (red short, orange backpack) and I did a lap around the mall. The shopping was interesting to say the least. It was nothing special to me though since it's just a big mall. This pizza was disgusting. Too much bread, and it was a little cold. It was hard to finish it. The only stores we stopped into was a gift shop and a Best Buy. My dad refused to believe that these giant things were made out of Lego Bricks! Is he a fool? By now, I knew my way around the mall. Does this count as a credit...? After our mini adventure circling the mall, I got the chance to hit a few more rides. This time, I rode RBP twice! It was virtually empty before I toured the mall, but then the lines got longer. Still, the waits weren't bad afterwards. 2 trains in one shot: Check! Soon, the time for us to go back home came close. So, I got a photo in front of my favorite indoor roller coaster before we started heading out. Note: I didn't wear the jacket the entire time since it was nearly 80 degrees (Fahrenheit) inside. All in all, it was a great experience that I would be have again! Thanks for reading through this trip report. ^From my point of view, sort of, yes. That's what it has been looking like. But it seems more like the fault was driven by the KY State Fair Board (unless you count them as politics and what-not). And to itsasamccormick, great photos! I drove by the park as well last August, except it took me about 30 minutes. I didn't get to see roller skater, but I did see how a lot of the other rides in their conditions that day. Quite sad. FYI, I have heard that people have snuck into the park once or twice. Edit: Here are the photos I took of the park.

... base jump off of Chuck Norris' other summer house patio. They jumped and fell. Po and Dipsy tugged on their rip cords and began to safely glide away from the canyon walls and toward the ground. They both looked down and saw Lala, who thought one didn't need a parachute with a wingsuit, continue to plummet downward. Dipsy looked at Po and said...

U.A.E. seems to be the place for the world's best-to-be amusement (and water) parks to appear. My dad fly's for United Airlines and he tells me that flights to places like Dubai are sometimes full, which is great to hear. I visited Dubai in 2009 and absolutely loved it! I hope something does rise from the sand for Dubailand soon. I'd love to travel back and try one or two of them if possible someday.

Amazing water slides
Midgetman82 replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That blue slide looks cool, until you get to the last flume that dumps into the sea. I can't see the steps to climb back up anywhere! Edit: Nevermind, I see it! It is to the left of the last slide. It's in a dark corner and is hidden!
