Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

I asked a park employee yesterday about SoB and he told me that there has been rumor of the ride re-opening as "Beast: Unleashed." He didn't say when though, so don't quote this as official. -

There was one time when they ran all three trains with nobody on them. That's probably what bumped the wait up a few more minutes. -

^Yeah, my dad and I didn't know how crowded it was going to be, and if we did we would have bought two. Maybe next time! -

Have you ever considered sitting to the left of your friend instead of the right?! Looks like a great park, and you had some fun. I remember my first Eurofighter (Dare Devil Dive), I guess it's not the same kind as the one you rode, but we can all agree that they're pretty much awesome! The one you rode is probably better though. -

^What you said about going on a Sunday to avoid crowds, you were absolutely right. Yesterday morning had some light crowds, but it got super packed as it got dark. (Posted TR about it. Includes very little about haunt and more about the rides.) -
Well, Vekoma is cleaning up their act with the Carolina Cobra trains. Also, Boomerang at WOF is not horrible. Then again, the only Vekoma I regularly see is Woodstock Express @ CP . Just to be sure, I wasn't talking about Vekoma. I love Vekoma and will sometimes take a riding one of their coasters (Preferably an SLC).

Part three: Club Blood, along with Wolf Pack and the rest of the park, was getting busy. Windseeker found wind without even moving. It and Drop Tower still were not open due to the wind. One of the outdoor Haunts. It's the pirate themed one. They were running a special for the Sling Shot ride: per person... lol, no thanks! Massacre Manor looked to be a 1 hour wait. The par was near to being packed by now and more people were on their way. On my way to the back of the park, I spotted this sign. Right after the announcement for people having 15 minutes left before the actors were "released in the park," all fog machines were activated. They seemed to be working very well. Eiffel Tower was closed during this time. You can't hide from your fears! >=-D I was too exhausted to continue my day, and my cell phone was dead so i wasn't able to contact my dad who went back to the car after Diamondback. I honestly would have loved to stick around the park just to watch the scare actors do their thing, but I just couldn't. So this ends my report. Now for a 2 hour drive home. Thanks for viewing and reading. Ride Count -- Drop Tower: 1 Flight of Fear: 1 Firehawk: 1 Vortex: 1 The Crypt: 1 Delirium: 1 Racer: 1 Diamondback: 1 Flight Deck: 1 -

Hier sind wir in Teil zwei! (Hope this translated to "Here we are in part two!") You can get some pretty amazing shots of Diamondback from the exit of The Crypt. Boo Blasters! This ride was fairly busy. Is it a good ride? Me wishing it was still open. Stupid wind! Don't know if I want to wish this was still open. The park seems to be making good use of its station. Ah, Delirium. Not as big as I imagined it would be, but still cool nonetheless. [Cell Phone Camera] Unfortunately after waiting 1 and a half hours for this ride and soon getting on, it broke down on me. The woman on my right started freaking out! Soon they got us off and let us get back in line if we wanted to wait for it to finish testing. I met up with my dad (who was eating and reading in the car) and we both rode Racer. Short wait for an amazing classic coaster. We immediately braved the extensive line of Diamondback. The guys at the entrance told me that once I reached the entrance, it's only an hour wait. If all switchbacks are filled, then expect to wait nearly 2 hours, because that's how long I waited. Random photo. Signage with train under it. About 20 minutes in and Vortex get's stuck on the lift! They seemed to have been stuck there for 30 minutes before the ride started back up. The ride didn't run for a while after that. An hour later, we find the vending machines. I don't care if I'm dying from dehydration, I'm not paying .00 for a sprite! Soon Vortex was back up and running. It had very few people on the first two trains. The third train (not pictured) was full of people. 1 1/2 hours later, we made it through all switchbacks! Beautiful splashes to be seen. 2 hours in the line and I finally get on. This ride produces the most amount of airtime I have ever experienced on a roller coaster, honestly! It was amazing and, of course, my favorite coaster in the park! Now let's get to the "Haunt" side of the park. Outside Slaughter House's exit was this chainsaw guy who looked a lot like Onision (from YouTube). I thought of riding this ride, but then I saw the line. I can ride it another time. By now, most haunted walk-throughs were open and the lines for them (including this one) had exceeded a 30 minute wait. Another fog machine. The way to get to Club Blood, Wolf Pack, and Flight Deck. Due to where Flight Deck was, it felt as though everything about the park's Haunt had faded away. In other parts of the park, everywhere you looked you were looking at something Haunt related. This ride was left out. This was my first time on this coaster as well. This coaster seems to be a hidden gem because it is an amazing ride! Fast, intense, and very unique. I can tell a lot of people pass up this coaster due to it's location. And we stop here! The next part will be the last. Not many pictures left. -
If you read the descriptions, then I must tell you that there is a perfectly logical reason for why I didn't stay to see the actors be "released" at 7:00p.m.: I was exhausted! Simple enough! Besides, I was at the park since it opened at 11:00 a.m. I was with a sizable crowd waiting for a man to drop the rope. First the rides tested, they then stopped as the Pledge of Allegiance played on speakers. Immediately after they ended the pledge, everyone made their way to a ride. I was one of the first and only people who got to ride Drop Tower that day. Winds were very strong at the top and so that's why they never re-opened it. By now, I'm randomly choosing a ride. First time on Flight of Fear. It's now my favorite coaster in KI (other than Diamondback). Also my first time on a Vekoma Flying Dutchman. Pretty cool coaster, but takes quite a while to load. Now making my way to... A Tree! Okay, Vortex! Almost every ride here is my first time on it since that last time I was here, I wasn't tall enough to ride anything. Vortex was amazing. A few pumps here and there, but still an amazing coaster. Windseeker never ran all day as well because of the high winds. Looked interesting, but I wasn't eager to try it out. Yep! Pretty interesting combination. Trick-or-Treating with dinosaurs. Ohai! I passed on riding this ride because of the length of the line. The one coaster KI fans are raving about! I'm quite disappointed with this ride. With the cool looking entrance and heavy theming in the queue, I expected this to be an amazing ride/show mixture. I don't want to give it away to those who haven't been on it, but I can tell them that it's not worth riding if the line stretches past this entrance. (Side Note for the photo before this photo: Either I had my lens on manual focus, or I need to have it checked out. Don't know why it's blurry.) I'm going to split this TR into sections. Up next: Stuck on Delirium, riding Racer, and waiting centuries to ride Diamondback!

^^If you mean "Running Order" as in "keep them in a condition where they could go out and start them up immediately," then no. Early August when I went with some friends to a hot rod convention, I took photos from outside the park. There are so many plants that have grown so far up on the park's pirate ship that the ride looks like it will never run again; I hope I'm wrong though. I even made my way past a gas station to a little plot of land behind Kentucky Kingdom where I believe the new parking lot would be. All photos were taken from public property outside of the park. T2 with slight paint chipping. Both rides slightly faded. Panorama of Twisted Twins. Close-up Hot Rod convention! The Pirate ship with huge plants and grass all over it. Road-Runner building is still there. There were people inside sweeping and leaf-blowing the ground. Back at TT And the possible parking lot.

Amazing water slides
Midgetman82 replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got on Dragon's Tail for the second and third time last month. First time I rode it (earlier this decade, not used to speed slides yet), I hated it and vowed never to ride any speed slides. After giving it a second chance, I loved it enough to ride it again! The airtime slides that are made now don't seem to produce as much airtime anymore, probably because people can hurt themselves if they're not sliding correctly. Anyways, this is still the most intense water slide I've ever been on. -
Once it's done, they will have fulfilled my prophecy! That, and being able to ride the WORLD'S tallest drop tower now makes my fingers slightly tremble. I looooooooooooooooooove (Intamin) drop towers because of the same reason everyone else loves (Intamin) drop towers; they scare us before and during the ride! Watching that video does not help by the way! Cannot wait! FYI, I'm going to Cedar Point in October for the first time. I'll finally be able to choose between two parks that seem to have some friction going on between them.
