Snow is definitely promised in January and February, but how much of it will come down is unknown to me due to it differing every season. Last year there didn't seem to be as much as the previous years, so I don't think there should be much slowed progress. Ed Hart did say that he wanted to get the exterior of everything done first before working on the interiors, so at least many workers will be within something when the weather does change.

Has a waterslide ever scared you?
Midgetman82 replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Having tried my first (tiny) aqualoop on the Norwegian Breakaway this summer, I can gladly update that most slides don't really scare me anymore, unless they look extremely sketchy (old, water leaking through seams, people complaining about it, etc). Having valleyed once on the aqualoop, one thing that would probably get me panicky would be that happening and the escape hatch door being shut and unable to open. Luckily, they left it wide open and you just climbed out. -
First Defunct B&M?
Midgetman82 replied to 11slataus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would not, and hope to not see Kumba, of all coasters, leaving the soonest. I'd gamble any B&M that's been relocated at least once before choosing a ride that's owned by a park with a fairly good lineup of other permanent B&M's. My biggest guess would also be on Freestyle's Time Machine/Led Zep coaster. As for stand-ups, my last rides on Georgia Scorcher (2011), Riddler's Revenge (2010), and Chang (2009) were amazing, but riding Mantis this year put an immense amount of pain in my legs during it. This leaves me confused. -
^^ I-305 is different with me. I really enjoyed that coaster, and even the harsh transitions. For that I thank the current restraints on it. Maybe if Maverick had those (or some soft wrap paddings around the restraints) then I could enjoy it immensely. Also, I don't think I'd be on the same boat for lap-bars on Maverick due to it having less upper-body restraint on the turns.

As much as I really enjoyed the launches and the inversions, I was turned-off from Maverick at Cedar Point from the sharp transitions on the turns after the first drop, and the few after the second launch right out of the tunnel and above the pond. I love insanely wild rides, but bracing myself from suddenly slapping against the ride's restraints isn't my cup of tea.

In order: Cedar Point (x2)(FenceCoaster Media Day/Coastermania) SeaWorld Orlando (National Roller Coaster Day!) Holiday World And still jealous at those of you who've gone to at least 5 or above. The SeaWorld trip was when I officially started credit-whoring since I wasn't with anyone who'd judge me. Quake was alright as a ride, but as I look back to the many times I've enjoyed it as a little kid, I realize it was nothing special other than being the first of its kind (I think). It never inverted, and it was pretty noisy. Bringing it back would be kinda pointless, in my opinion. Now, if they brought in one that inverted, I wouldn't be against it at all. Also, is Green Lantern that bad?

What is going on with La Qua?
Midgetman82 replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thunder Dolphin is still very high on my "to ride" list, and I'm very glad to see it's back up and running! I kinda like how the nets curve along with the track. Not sure if it adds to the aesthetics of the coaster to the point it makes it look better, but I don't think it detracts from it either. -
http://www.screamscape.com/html/kentucky_kingdom.htm [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]If it wasn't going to be Holiday World to get one, then Kentucky Kingdom would. Obviously I wouldn't oppose them in trying to fit one into the park. I thought they mentioned a family coaster, though? These things don't seem very "family-friendly" to me.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Awesome! A great family ride that couldn't be any more appropriate for the Thanksgiving area! Also I got to come to Holiday World this past Labor Day weekend and the park feels immensely bigger thanks to the placement of Hyena Falls! Great to see the park improving more and more!
