Another note to Captn, as long as you're moving here for school, if you use your student ID from a florida university, you can get the florida resident pass which is "pay for the day get the year free deal". I always get a pass. I used to work at an office down the street and would go to the park for lunch to grab 1 ride on a coaster, a quick bite and be back in time for the rest of the afternoon at work, raring to get back to work again. My fellow workers always knew when I did this , and would chuckle, as I was really stoked for the rest of the day. good times.

you are picking what I consider one of the best times to go. Yes, schools are in session and during the week you may feel you have the park to yourself. I cant speak for the weekends as I never go on a weekend. (I hate lines) Most rides will be either walk on or a train wait. Falcons Fury may have a 10 minute wait at the very most during peak hour. Last august I got on FF 3 times in a row with only a 1 loading time wait each. As for the bacon pretzel thingy, dont miss it. When we were there a few weeks ago they had it offered as a platter, dont know what was on the platter for 8.99, but it is cheaper just by itself and a whole one is quite filling. We usually split one for lunch.

Wow, really great pictures, It's really neat to see RFII like that. We finally got to ride it this past summer in late August over ten times on a really crappy, rainy day, (in fact the park was supposed to close at 10pm, but closed at 7 instead because there was virtually no one in the park that day) but boy did we have fun. The only problem was , is that I couldn't get any decent pics of the coaster, so it is very nice to see RFII in all its naked glory.

We go to DC a lot as my partners family is from there. There is sooo much to do in the area that we often do , from hiking up White Oak Canyon and Old Rag on Skyline Drive, the battlefields from the early wars, to Kings Dominion, Busch, and the awesomeness that is the Smith, that sometimes it is just nice to go to a smaller regional park like SFA. It is just that, a regional park that is trying to grow up. Granted, we have only been in the off season to SFA, but we had a lot of fun because we didn't expect a lot but were pleasantly surprised by the place. ( that. and we go on the saturday before the halloween stuff starts when admission is only 19.95 to get in that weekend with 1 dollar hotdogs , sodas and , my fave, cotton candy !) It really isn't that bad at all. Wild One is worth the trip alone!

Eastern Road Trip

Wow, trying to fit in both BGW and KD in one day with the shorter hours is really pushing it. Even if you "could" get from BG to KD in an hour (not likely) just getting out of one park and getting into the next with trams and gates etc, it will eat up a lot more time than you are thinking. Myself, I would choose KD over BG because of 305 and Volcano. That may be because BG Tampa is my home park and I find there are similar coasters at the 2, whereas KD is a completely different experience. -

^I agree the Cedar Point is one of the best parks out there. I never said any bad words about the company that's leaving, just that it took away from the escape / fantasy / fun world that the park puts its guests in, if only for a moment. You proved my point that they are a bit decisive ,good or bad, depending on which side of the fence one may be on. and that's fine. Ok, enough rant. Lets get back to how great the new coaster is going to be. (and also, any updates today on the boat?) -

I am actually glad Chikfils is leaving, just my thoughts on chikfila leaving CP. When I go to a park, I go to immerse myself in a wonderful, beautiful fantasy world. I dont want to be reminded of all the crap, politics , personal issues, and bigotry out there in the rest of the world. I go to a park to escape reality, if only for the day. Seeing chiks always was a bit of a downer, as it took me out of the fantasy land that the parks strive to be. Not that it ruined my day by any means, it just put a sobering moment ( and really, just a minute) an otherwise Debbie Downer moment on the "high " of the day. just my 2 cents. -
It has been a while since I've been to the Falls, but I always found it cheaper with the exchange rate to stay on the Canadian side. Maid of the Mist is always cool. Ive done it both from the C side and the US side and prefered the Canadian side. Also the Canadian side is much prettier than the US side and the parklands are much better maintained on the Canadian side. Cave of the Winds is really cool too as is the aeriel tram a few miles downstream of the falls. All only accesible from the Canada side. (plus if you're a M Monroe fan, watch the film Niagara to get you in the mood. It can be a bit tourist trappy , but some of it is tacky fun.

Apocalypse at SF America gets my vote. -
What is your next park?
djcoastermark replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tomorrow, Xmas eve, at Busch Gardens Tampa. I usually go on Xmas eve as the park is pretty much a ghost town and the coasters are mostly walk ons , unlike Xmas day when the park can hit capacity early, with lines to match. -

Blue Streak has had chaser lights since the sixties. As a kid , it was the last thing I saw at the end of the night looking out the rear window of the family car as we were leaving. Good memories. -

Video and Question about 4K HDTVs!

nope to one and my current 1080 is just fine. maybe a 4k when it is more mainstream and affordable with good content. -
So sad. I am glad I made it to the park this past August. It was the best 10 bucks I ever spent. Rode Blue Streak 8 times, tumble bug 3 times, along with Gum Wall, the ride , the train and the weird Hansel and Grettel ride. Also had a couple of good brews from a local brewery that had a stand there too. The whole place was like a giant scary halloween haunt in August! The last time I was there was back in the 1970's as a kid and wow has it changed. Like everyone says, it doesn't sound to good for the park's future. Get there ASAP if you can. The Blue Streak is well worth the price of admission, a true classic.
