  1. my partner and were at the park this sunday. We did the all day pass for ride and scream , and I must say, going at opening on sunday morning is abb sooo luutltly fantasmick ! No lines whatsoever for Volcano and 305 . The park was dead and no lines at all . the bad part was that it was only 50 degrees for the high that day. But wow, was 305 intense !! We did not encounter any lines whatsoever until about 6 pm. even then the lines at most were 10 minutes. It was super cold for us floridas boys, but man did we have fun. We did all the haunts from 6 pm untli 8:30 or so. man ,what fun, even tho the temps got down to an udgawdly 35 degrees.
  2. thank you for responding. We have been to KD before and , yes, Volcano is the run to coaster at opening. I just hope the forcasted cold this sunday doesn't hamper operations. After our trip this summer going to knoebels, Conneat, Waldemeer, and Cedar Point, This would be a great ending to the "up north" season.
  3. My partner and I are thinking about going this sunday, not really for the haunt stuff, but for the coasters. I saw the park opens at 10:30 am. That is when we were thinking of getting to the park. I know for us Floridians it will be ungawdly cold sunday. My question is, how busy will it be during the daytime ? As cold as it is supposed to get in the evening, we most likely will be gone as darkness approaches when the haunt stuff starts. It will be just way tooooo cold for us. Is the daytime packed or not ?
  4. I for one am excited. We are spending 4 days at the point in the Breakers and this will be our first night there. What a way to start our holiday at the Point ! Looking forward to it and anyone else going to be there? We would love to meet up with fellow TPR peoples lol.
  5. ^ Yes Robb, I do agree. That drop in the back has some of the best air time ever. It is most likely my favorite OH CR** *P !! moments on a coaster.
  6. the white rhinos from the train can really be neat if the timing is right. We were there a while back near sunset ,and the train had to stop because of all the animal activity. The best was seeing the rhinos charging through the serengeti . Truly an amazing event. Yes, the park can be confusing with all its little paths winding about, but that makes it interesting. Lot s of hidden spots with something neat to see. at every turn . If you think it's confusing during the day, just wait until halloween in the dark with all the fog and darkness. It is very disorienting then to say the least.
  7. ^OMG I love that. That really does sum up how it has been here. I have such cabin fever right now. It is true, forget trying to drive anywhere around here.
  8. OMGAWD Conneaut, The ultimate thrill seekers paradise ! (as in, will I make it off the/any ride alive? ) I really hope this park is still around in mid August for my Ohio/ Pa trip. Conny is the first stop we are making before Kennywood. I haven't been to Conneaut since I was a kid in the 1970's. I love the pictures you took of the park, but it is sad to see that was once a really pretty little park has fallen into such disrepair. It reminds me of a park in Ohio that I had the, ahem, pleasure of going to in its last season. Russel's Point Park at Indian Lake. The only difference was that the coaster had been condemmed that year and no longer ran. The midways and rides seemed to be in the same condition as Conneaut. Unfortunately, with the closure of their Coaster, the last operating day ever for that park was the Fourth of July, they just couldn't make it to the end of season. I have some old photos I took of that park that someday I would like to post here as a retro trip report.
  9. I was wondering what was going on in the park when I was there in May. I noticed the area between Gatorland and the entrance gate has been cleared and looks to have some pathways marked and leveled out with some infrastructure work also going on. I love how this lil ole place just keeps on adding things. I can't wait to hear when an actual "coming attractions " announcement of what and dates of the new stuff is.
  10. I,ve had them all smothered like that and while, yes they were ok good, I much prefer them with just a touch of salt (normally I don't ever use salt ) and a lot of malt vinegar. Then they are great !
  11. The stand by the rotating roofs and other stands selling the pirogies like it are "walking pirogies". As in, grab a few and walk around and eat them. The Stand by the Alamo are waay better and are the "sitting" type. Meaning the best way to enjoy their wonderful goodness is to sit down for a few minutes to enjoy. They are just way to messy to try and walk and eat like I tried to do at first. It actually was quite comical trying to nab those little goodies on a fork in all their messy, buttery, onion-y goodness while walking.
  12. Things seem to be going well at this 'lil place at least according to the state of PA. According to the state inspectors , they were "amazed" at the condition of the rides there. (other than needing a serious need of painting.) This is good for me to know as we are planning to hit CLP on the way to our Kennywood and Cedar Point trip this August. The newspaper link to the story can be found here http://www.meadvilletribune.com/news/local_news/inspectors-amazed-at-condition-of-conneaut-lake-park-rides/article_0a45d26e-14a6-11e5-887a-c7839f63fcbf.html
  13. I am really hoping this place makes it this year as we are planning to be there the 2nd week of August on a sunday. Its kind of a bucket list thing as i really want to experience the tumble bug in its full glory, the Blue Streak and of course, Devils Den just for shi-s and giggles. Bugs were one of my favorites when I was younger and this place is the only one that runs it full on balls to the wall. I cant wait ! Thanx for posting the coaster vid !
  14. Just curious here ,because it's been really quiet about the park lately. Did the park get to re-open this year ? I am still hoping that by the time we get up in that neck of the woods in august it will still be open. So far our trip includes Kennywood and 3 days at Cedar Point. Flights booked, car is rented, now just adding those little extras and CLP would be nice. Last chance for this place ?
  15. On one hand this is really good news. My partner and I are going on a trip to Kennywood and Cedar Point this coming August and CLP is on our "bucket List". The bad part is the feeling that even though CLP is opening this year, is that because we are going the 2nd and 3rd week of August is that this poor lil park may not make it that long. I have a feeling this is the parks last hurrah this year, and I really hope we can make it there before they pull the plug. (queue sad music theme song)
  16. Oh that is ..just...just...just.... Oh Jeezie, thanks for all the nightmares I'm going to be having now !
  17. Freedom Flyer at FunSpot, Orlando. (not my pic, dont remember where its from)
  18. I know this is a little off topic but, does anyone know how the Breakers refurb is going ? I am planning a trip to CP the 3rd or fourth week of August and am considering staying there. The last time I stayed there was back in the 70's as a kid.
  19. ^^ Aah, the old Twister rides were a lot of fun. Cedar Point and several other parks used to have them in the sixties and into the early seventies. I wonder if there are any operating ones left anywhere ?
  20. The wrist band more than pays for itself at the end of the night for multiple rerides in Phoenix. Being able to jump off the coaster and run right back on at the end of the night is fantastic. Although the park closed at 10 pm, Phoenix kept the line open until 10:20 for those with armbands, when I was there. Not to forget to mention that the last 2 rides out of the night were EPIC ! When the train hit the lift, all the running lights were shut off, letting the trains run in total darkness. Something not to be missed and something I wont ever forget. Best ride ever !
  21. We took out of town family last wednesday and earlier in the day it was a 30 to 45 minute wait for Scorpion. At that point we skipped it. However, later in the day we got on it with just a 2 train wait.
  22. Why do those pictures remind me of so many of those little Chinese parks ?
