Walibi Holland Discussion Thread
BigDipper 80 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Music on a boomerang? Do they play the song backwards on the return leg? It seems like an odd choice of a ride to add a soundtrack to. But, who knows, it might turn out to be neat. -
Most Intense B&M!

I'll second that. Trimless Mantis was almost unrideable for me an the last row because of the forces in the dive loop. I regularly blacked out there, which was not fun. -
Animal- Neon Trees. Again.

Maybe they are adding a 30000 foot launch track to outer space and five cobra rolls and lasers and making it an inverted coaster by using the wood from the Big Dipper, too! -

My first invert in Nolimits. It's pretty clear that it is heavily based off of Alpengeist at BGW. This project still has a way to go, though. The first drop and cobra roll are still pretty pumpy. Ice Ghost-101101154313000.bmp Ice Ghost-101101154402001.bmp Ice Ghost-101101154446003.bmp -

Fascinating article there! I found this quote fairly interesting: "Not that Europeans or Japanese or others have anything against being scared half to death. It's just that most haven't been exposed to anything as wild as an American roller coaster." Now we think of Japan and Europe as having some of the best roller coasters in the world, as they can do things there that would never be allowed in America. -

^ DubaiDave, I thought I'd put a direct link to this video as well, which is only the POV of Formula Rossa. Official Formula Rossa POV: http://www.ameinfo.com/247118.html -
Oh my goodness, that's Olmsted Falls, isn't it! I live right up the street from that park. It is so pretty in the autumn.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Millennium Force. It was probably my last coaster of the season, and it was running FAST right after a rainstorm! -

^ That's a big reason why this project and Texas Giant interest me more than any other 2011 project. We don't know all of the details yet, and it is more fun to watch it as it develops rather than have all of the secrets given away! -

Well, Snooki didn't do anything important either (unless you count tanning a lot), and she has her own show... It is Travel Channel, after all. The only show on there that I actually like is No Reservations. -

Do you mean 4D as in the Intamin coasters where the seats spin freely, or like the S&S version with controlled spinning? Because if you meant the latter, that would also mean adding another set of rails to the track on top of new trains, and I doubt that would ever happen. -

^I agree with you about the suspended coasters. I've always felt that B&M killed the concept off before Arrow had the chance to really perfect the idea, even though the suspended coaster really is such a different ride from the inverted coaster. Perhaps if inversions hadn't become as prevalent in the 80's and 90's the concept could have survived. It couldn't hurt to have more rides like Flight Deck or Eagle's Fortress!
