Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
BigDipper 80 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know that for the hotels on the peninsula offer you a refund of your parking fee, since you have to pass through the parking lot to get back to those hotels. Again, I'm not sure about Express or Castaway Bay since they are off-site, so to speak. EDIT- It looks like neither Castaway Bay or Express offer free parking, but all of the other resorts do, at least according to the website. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
BigDipper 80 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^No, it is off the peninsula and pedestrians aren't allowed on the causeway. I think that the park offers a shuttle, but I could be wrong about that. -
I have been playing the Great Gatsby Game, and it's a lot harder (and more addicting!) than it looks. I think it's my ineptitude at having to work the spacebar and z key separately with the same hand. I would have made a bad Gatsby pun in there somewhere, but alas, I am not that witty.

I had never given too much attention to this hotel until I read the last few comments, and I'd have to say that the current towers are pretty uninspiring. There really isn't anything to set the hotel apart architecturally from most other "chain" hotels. From what I understand and read regularly, a lot of the regulars are adamant about preserving the history of their resort, but honestly, just because the hotel was there in 1955 doesn't mean that it's a fantastic idea to keep it. I personally feel that the monorail slide and the new bar look nice, but a collection of random pieces of park history isn't really much of a coherent theme. It really should have just been replaced with something new and up-to-date.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

^I do know that there is the one go kart track/ mini golf place near the Sandusky Mall and Great Wolf Lodge on Milan Road, but again, those are a bit out of the way of the main thoroughfare. Even just to clean up the drive from Rye Beach Road out to the park would be nice. But at the same time, a part of me seems to enjoy the lack of tourist traps along that strip. I enjoy having the park feel like it's in the middle of nowhere as it pops up out of the bay, which is so much different than even Kings Island to the south. -
I'm glad to see Pinocchio at the top of that list, where it belongs. And having finally watched The Black Cauldron (and therefore all of the films on that list, with the exception of perhaps one or two of the "package films") I can safely say that it deserved to be that low. It was horrendous.

Official RCT3 Help Thread
BigDipper 80 replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^Thanks again for the help. Oddly enough, when I converted it to a .wma file it worked fine in the other "music" folder. I wonder if it has anything to do with the "lock" next to my folder in Users. I've had that same "lock" mess with me with most of my saved NoLimits tracks, which makes it impossible to locate them on the hard drive or to even take in-game screenshots without a lot of hassle. It's weird, and I suppose I'll have to dig into it more to find out why the "lock" is causing me so much trouble. Again, I appreciate the help. That lock next to "Ethan"? It haunts my nightmares. -

Another park that I have been working on during the little bits of spare time I get now. I rarely end up ever uploading any of this stuff, but I still like to show off little snippets of it like this! Disney's Polynesian Resort -

^Perhaps I am more computer inept than I thought... The music is within the RCT3 folder. I've never had this problem before. It's just very... frustrating when my computer does this to me. The RCT3 folder in Music... The .mp3 files within RCT3 -
Official RCT3 Help Thread
BigDipper 80 replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I have been furiously struggling with importing my own music . So far, I have: Put the files into the "RCT3" file in Music Put the files into the "Music" file in the game's hard drive location with the other music Put the files in both locations at the same time I had never in the past had this problem and I had, in fact, put in some music before, but now even the music that I had put in before doesn't work. I DO have the "import music from My Music" box ticked in the game's options. The names of the songs will appear in the drop-down menu of the "ride music" box, but when selected, they will not play. All other in-game music runs fine. The files are .mp3 files (never had a problem with that before...), and I'm using a machine that runs Windows 7. Does anyone have any suggestions? -
Another book that I have always enjoyed was Roller Coasters: A Thrill Seeker's Guide to the Ultimate Scream Machine by Robert Coker (better known as RoCo on these forums ). If you're into Cedar Point, there's always Cedar Point: Queen of American Watering Places, by David and Diane Francis. I'd also recommend Designing Disney by John Hench, or any of the Imagineering Field Guides, provided you are into Disney. If I think of more titles, I'll let you know. I have read so many books on the subject, yet I cannot think of any of their titles right now!

Hello TPR! I recently entered a scholarship competition through the University of Dayton in which we had to pose a question and create a video on how to answer it. The video with the most "likes" wins a scholarship from the university and $2,500 towards researching your answer. Since my question was "What would roller coasters be like on the moon?" (hmm, wonder where I got that one from...), I would be granted actual money by an actual college to find out what roller coasters would be like on the moon! All you have to do is go to THIS link, and click the "like" button under the video. You won't even have to watch the (admittedly poorly-written and filmed) video! I would much appreciate it, and I would forever be indebted to TPR for helping me pay for my college education . And thanks to Robb, for letting me shamelessly plug this! HERE is the link again, in case you missed it. Thanks a million TPR! --BigDipper 80

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
BigDipper 80 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In other news, the park's blog uploaded some photos of the Coney Mall construction work today, which also involves removing the black asphalt and replacing it with brick pacers. I think that it will be a nice touch for the area. Both images belong to Kings Island. The rest of the pictures can be seen HERE. -
Apparently, my computer only has Windows Live Movie Maker, and apparently there is a difference between that and REGULAR Movie Maker, and apparently it is impossible for me to link between my two computers because of secret passwords, and apparently it's nearly impossible to open a project from Windows Live into regular Movie Maker after the fact. Again, thanks for nothing, Microsoft.

I swear that this is possibly my favorite thread on any website anywhere. I really should get back to preparing for the slow and painful death known as an AP Calculus midterm, but I just don't have the patience to reteach myself all of the tricks for solving limits that have since evaporated from my brain. I'd rather just solve some more definite integrals. Stupid midterms.

The Brochure/Map Trade Topic
BigDipper 80 replied to Reality15's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I have- 2008-2010 Cedar Point maps and brochures 2009-2010 Kings Island maps 2008 WDW maps- all parks including water parks Some non-park related stuff I've picked up over the years, such as National Parks Service brochures for Washington, DC, random Alabama attractions, etc. I have a lot of other crap in my drawers, and if I find anything that I can part with or have doubles of, I'll add it later. Probably not the hardest stuff to come by, but still, PM me if you're interested. If anyone has a more recent (2008-11) map of Disneyland Paris, I'd love to trade for it! -
