  1. Here's a picture of me on it from five years ago...yup, just about sums it up!
  2. Bumping this thread... KT was invited to a birthday party here and we went two weeks ago. I actually thought it was REALLY well done and a great waterpark option for the 3 - 10 year old age group. The two 'indoor' pools are really nice. One is a decent pool with a 48" body slide, the other is a more toddler/preschool area with a few tiny slides and lots of water play elements. The bucket outside is great. KT was able to do all of the slides and it was setup really well for keeping an eye on little ones. I wish it would be covered so it could be a fun winter option as well. We didn't do any of the slides on the 'large' complex but two of them had a 42" restriction and only one had a 48" so I feel they must have realized their core demographic. From what I saw they did a really nice job converting the old property on the inside. It still looks like crap from outside and from I-Drive, but once you're in the hotel you can see they did put some decent money into it. A lot of the locals with small children go and visit, unfortunately it will still be too cold to go from November - March for most of us. If the bucket was covered as well I could see that making more sense. The party was setup well and they seem to do QUITE the amount of business with parties. Two hours in the water park, then one hour in a party room. Worked well and the kids had a good time. We will certainly visit again.
  3. Looks really great! Seeing actual scare zones makes me mad! Come on Florida, we want them back!
  4. ^^I'm hoping that this signifies some more investment going into the park and not just a steady downfall with two coasters now being removed.
  5. It needed a shooting dark ride that used pick-up trucks with mounted machine guns to give it that real "Somalia" flair. I'm hoping for a Pirates in Somalia shooting boat ride!
  6. ^What he said mostly. There are a lot of upcharges for dining, and the service in the 'included' restaurants (and even some of the upcharge ones) left a lot to be desired. The staff isn't 'working for tips' as much on this line so they don't really have that extra incentive to go above and beyond. It's more like eating at a normal resort. Nothing wrong with it, I'm sure it will be great and you'll both enjoy it, just not my preference.
  7. I would go for the 10th - 17th or 11th - 18th. That's the week between Jersey and Thanksgiving. Crowd-wise and price-wise it should be the best for you. If you're heading to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami I would stick with either Epic or Allure. Dream and Freedom are a good 3+ hours away. I am NOT a fan of the Norwegian Cruise Line product so with that choice I would instantly go with Allure. I'm sure you could probably get Epic a bit cheaper though and they have similar big act entertainment options if you like shows and stuff like that.
  8. ^The Asian's really seem to love their glassed in bathrooms!!
  9. The park reminded me a lot of Hard Rock or even Rainbow Magicland. The Somalia section was the most bizarre idea for theming ever.
  10. ^^I've always maintained that riding Dodonpa is the closest simulation of being hit by a truck possible!
  11. ^More info required... When in November (Thanksgiving Week and Jersey Week mess with this month)? Are you drinkers? Do you like Sea Food? Are you big Disney Fans? Where are you flying into? Do you have transportation? Are you doing anything else or just the cruise? Are you interested in Eastern or Western Ports more?
  12. I think the phone thinking you were in Iceland was the best part of this park!
  13. Some thoughts on the Disney Fantasy Cruise we just got back from today... - They have certainly improved as a cruise line since the last time I cruised them 12 years ago! - Ship was lovely and well laid out for an 'older style' ship. - Food options/times were limited and did not suit me at all. Even Carnival had more food open and more options throughout the day. (thought it was mostly inedible!) - Kids club facilities were amazing, but staff for the most part was terrible. Entertainment staff who seemed to visit the club quite often were great and interacted with the kids...kids club staff was rude to KT and other children! - Character photos were great, photo staff not so much. I don't know why Disney outsources this as I think they could do amazing things with Photopass on the ship. - Enchanted Art and Muppets game were really cool; even after Robb activated the Pirates one for the 257th time! - I like Labadee a lot more than Castaway Cay. - Disney Staterooms were some of the best we've had with the exception of drawer space. - Sarah and Nicki at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique were two of the best cast members I've ever had the pleasure dealing with. I really hope they do well and advance in the company. - I felt there was very little for us 'adults' to do throughout the day or at night. I realize we're not 'normal' adults, but there were several times we just couldn't find anything to do. Overall, I think we'll stick mainly with Royal Caribbean, but I certainly will be back on Disney in the future. I think I'd almost rather stick with a 3/4 day on Disney as opposed to a whole week. Feel free to ask me anything about it!
  14. ^If you're ambitious and have a rail pass you can do day trips to Kyoto and Osaka from Tokyo. More for just sightseeing as you wouldn't have time to do a full park day or anything but it's about three hours on the train each way from Tokyo to those cities.
  15. To be fair, any queue would destroy the DCA one! It's just a bunch of switch backs under a building!
  16. Didn't we all vote to leave before ERT even!?!?
  17. I'm more shocked by Disneyland closing at 8pm!?!? I never realized there were times in the year the park closed that early!
  18. Hey everyone! On the TPR North East Trip 2011 we saw the Google Street View bike mapping out The Great Escape. After hearing that Google had uploaded thousands of more street view miles I decided to check and see if The Great Escape had been added and it sure has! I don't have a ton of time, so feel free to explore more around the park and see if you can spot any TPR Peeps! EDIT: Here is the link to Great Escape on Google Street View. See if you can roam around the park and find more TPR people! If you can, post a screen shot here! https://maps.google.com/maps?q=The+Great+Escape,+Six+Flags+Drive,+Queensbury,+NY&hl=en&ll=43.349376,-73.690399&spn=0.00293,0.006968&sll=27.698638,-83.804601&sspn=14.502589,28.54248&oq=the+great+escape,+ny&hq=The+Great+Escape,+Six+Flags+Drive,+Queensbury,+NY&radius=15000&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=43.349355,-73.690445&panoid=Sl7Iz7RqUTFJPhV51LA79A&cbp=12,115.81023899999991,,0,0&source=gplus-ogsb Robb and Kristen followed the guy for quite some time! I see some familiar people waiting for the Boomerang...and Ice Bat! I thought this one was funny with Jake taking a picture of the Google guy and Robb and Kristen in the same frame. And here's what the guy and vehicle look like. He was really nice and friendly and answered our questions.
  19. ^^Pretty sure it was Lake Compounce? I love the idea of it, although it will present some hardships for us on International TPR Trips making sure each group has a phone that will work on the system.
  20. ^Ruben, are you at least going to tell us WHY Robb was taking a photo of your crotch!?!?!
  21. I have not done Manta yet, but Blue Fire is extremely gentle and I wouldn't say the launch has any real kick to it.
  22. I said no thank you to Chinese lice!
  23. ^Really? I mean, their footprint is pretty small. Don't think it's any bigger than an SLC or something.
