^We use the bullet trains between Nagoya and Osaka. Taxi's in Tokyo are very expensive, they're not so bad everywhere else.

Hurricane Sandy vs. Roller Coasters
SharkTums replied to UrbanLegend's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You know a large percentage of enthusiasts didn't even know about this coaster(s) until they were destroyed. If they were such great rides, don't you think everyone would have been talking about them BEFORE they were fish food? -

Apparently it also destroyed a terrible looper down the street. We went and rode all that crap back in 2010 (I think it was part of Derek and Piers' master plan to find the Jersey Shore house and people). As long as the pizza didn't get destroyed, I'm fine! -

^Totally. This thread is just going to bring out a lot of the real crazy die hard coaster enthusiasts similar to the Big Dipper / Geauga Lake thread. It's good, helps us weed them out! -

^You came on the site just to bitch at Robb about this coaster? You're a very different demographic than most of this site. ACE people love crap like this and support all parks and coasters, even when they're terrible. Go back to complaining about Robb privately please! -
Well, we do Universal as a day trip from Nagoya, so I see no reason you couldn't do Nagashima as a day trip from Osaka! Nagashima is only about 40 minutes from downtown Nagoya (including train and bus/taxi).

I think you'll be fine for one day then. We usually base in Nagoya and haven't spent too much time in Osaka (outside of the Universal area). I know they have a couple of interesting ferris wheel's and I'm sure they have cool stuff but I have a soft spot for Nagoya and love exploring there.

2013 TPR Tour Questionnaire is out!

Parque Espana would not be included in the Japan add on unless something significant was added between now and the trip. It's very far and expensive to get to and would add another day to the trip. I'm happy to show you how to get there if you'd like to go a day early for it. The Aquascalientes area is NOT included as it's a bunch of crap and the bigger stuff only operates during random times. I found a way to squeeze in some Chinese Knockoffs operating in Mexico though...how could that not sell you on the trip!?!? -

^A lot of your questions seem better for the private forums or emails. We have had several vegetarians on trips with us and even a few vegans. Will there be a dedicated main vegetarian dish at every meal? No. These are Amusement Parks we're talking about. Will there be enough decent food for you so you won't be hungry and some really nice options at some parks? Yes. -

You may be on to something here...perhaps this is some sort of payback for Snooki reproducing!?!?! -

Oh, and for the people saying they may not be able to bounce back, or they may not be able to get something better in place of the coaster... 1. If Knoebels, Hershey, SFoG, SFoT, etc. can all bounce back after horrific flooding and damage more than once every 100 years surely they can. 2. I can't think of any credit worse they could get in that spot! -

Really? Some of you are getting 'emotional' over the loss of the coaster? People that were probably never going to even ride this coaster? It's a ROLLER COASTER! If you're going to get emotional over anything get emotional over the people who died or got hurt, not some dumb ride. -

Oh, it's totally another Road to TGI Fridays tour for me! -
^What day are you going? Are you willing to pay for the Express passes? Do you do all shows and reride stuff? For me, an 'average' Universal fan one day with Express passes is enough. If you're a big Universal Fanboy, or you're going during a crowded time without Express passes you may want to do two days. We always described Universal Osaka as kind of a 'best of' the Universals. They have stuff from Hollywood, Florida, and Islands of Adventure. More to do there than Singapore's Universal, probably on par with Florida's.

We've been there four times now. The only time there was an operations problem was when a Typhoon was coming through, and even that day had all of the indoor rides operating! Japan is very strict about ride closings in wind/rain. If the weather looks bad, I would not go all the way out to either parks on the day you've chosen.

Not going to lie...Start Jet is probably better off being an artificial reef in the ocean then beating people up any more! -

Trip? -
It's a hard call like you said. Parque Espana is the better 'looking' park, but Nagashima certainly has more rides and things to do. Nagashima is also much easier to get to then Parque Espana. I wouldn't worry too much about going before they close for the off season as it's Japan and they're going to do their best to make sure rides are running and nothing is shut down early. There are ALWAYS credits down though, so make sure you're prepared for that. We actually loved Hirakata, but it is more of a children's park. Himeji Central Park is pretty far off the beaten track but probably worth it so you can grab the B&M Invert.
