Mitch's Coaster Poll
Sean Menefee replied to ScubaSteve442's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My ballot for the 2007 season: After riding Voyage pre-trim in 06/07, then El Toro this summer, Toro takes the crown in book. -

BAD Hotels/Motels near parks
Sean Menefee replied to piers's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Jolly Roger in Anaheim ranks high on my list of booty value lodging choices: http://www.expedia.com/pub/agent.dll/qscr=dspv/htid=9476/nojs=1/eapi=23708/crti=7 Edit..... ^ And what Carnage said about Sandusky as well. Death to Light House Point's over priced cabins and nasty bugs swarms. -

That's why you live in Sacramento RD ^, we're safe from just about everything but flooding. Glad to hear all of my NorCal buddies are doing a-ok, take care folks. -Sean

A few new shots from California's Great America: Top Gun from closing weekend 2007 at CGA. Random goodness from the Nickelodeon Celebration Parade.

It was slow yesterday until it started to get dark, and even then it was pretty dead for a closing weekend Saturday. We really spent a lot of time just enjoying the scenery and small crowds, instead of power riding coasters. We also took a PR tour later that night and got some good photos of the Nick Parade, and GA's new haunted maze. I did finally take the time to ride Invertigo for the first time this season. When we got into the park around noon it was damn near a walk-on until later in the afternoon. That should give everyone a good idea of how sparse the crowds were, it was a really nice way to end the season. -Sean

The new Topspin will be placed near the old Tidal Wave area Ax, from what I've seen recently. As for the the GCI, I'm about 90% sure it's going behind the Sky Flyer and old Imax theater area, but we're still a ways off from the 2009 season at this point. Things can always (and probably will) change. -Sean

Geauga Lake's former Topspin is now sitting in Great America's employee lot. I'll have a complete update posted by tomorrow night folks. I honestly had one of the best visits to Great America in a really long time, and I can't wait to share my afternoon in photos. First signs of construction markers are showing up around the old Tidal Wave entrance/games area. The first parts of Great America's 2008 Topspin installation are now sitting in the employee lot. Funny I was just riding this in Ohio last June. Check SM2 & the TPR forums for more photos tomorrow evening!

It's a burnout/acceleration sound effect.

It was last weekend during the afternoon. -
I could put Asiago on just about anything and be happy. Also allow me to be the first to say this whole topic is super cheesy, but in a good way. -Sean 8) Mmmm Asiago bagels is the goodness.

Kelly and I made a trip down to Southern California this weekend, just in time for the hurricane winds and fire storm goodness. Before the madness broke out, we headed down the coast and made a quick detour to Hearst Castle for an amazing tour. Here are two shots from my extended weekend: The Mini Cooper looking sexy as hell right off Highway 1, near Monterey. Needless to say it was a very FUN drive down the twisty coast line. My artsy shot from Hearst Castle.

It's storming outside pretty good, and I can't sleep. I decided to snag my Nikon and take a long exposure of the street light outside of my window. This is what Sacramento looks like at 3 AM.

Most thrilling drop?
Sean Menefee replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mega Drop still squeezes the air out of me every time the California State Fair rolls around. As for coasters..... El Toro in the back seat has pretty much been the only other coaster that still produces that "stomach feeling" for me. -
That's a rough rendering of how THBS will be placed in Zonga's old footprint. Take the footage as promotional material value (placement only folks,) and not an exact blueprint of how things will look on opening day next year. It will be really nice to see that space in the front of the park be used for something other then storage or premium parking again. Anyways, great to see this rumor FINALLY came true. It should be fun documenting this thing being constructed this winter. -Sean

SFDK's Fright Fest
Sean Menefee replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Speaking of SFDK's Fright Fest. I received this little media blurb about the park doing talent tryouts this weekend. If you live in the Bay Area and have some free time to donate, you should stop by the park. Check the information here: -Sean
