RIP, Masked_Maverick, Daniel T.Miller
Sean Menefee replied to dandaman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It looks like Dan's MySpace was added to MyDeathSpace's collection of pages. http://www.mydeathspace.com/article/2007/09/05/Daniel_Miller_(25)_died_from_injuries_sustained_in_an_automobile_accident (Edit...if one of the Mods here can fix that link it wold be appreciated. I can't get it to format right it would seem.) -
V2's been a bit hit or miss this season, but no worse then usual you could say. It's been up more then down from what I've seen on my visits this year. It was Gospel day at Discovery Kingdom. Hope you had a Hyphyluja time in the Pray Area. (Not my words, but people who worked at the park had a long afternoon from what I understand.) Sorry to hear it was packed for your visit, but it still sounds like you had fun from your TR. Anyways, it's always nice to hear what people think of DK. I hope your visit to GA will be a bit less crowded. -Sean

Top Thrill Dragster- Scary?
Sean Menefee replied to youthink?'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm pretty sure the list is outdated, but that doesn't make it any less true. Believe what you want though, as I'm not a huge fan of debating coaster stats for the most part. To each their own as always. --Sean -
Top Thrill Dragster- Scary?
Sean Menefee replied to youthink?'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haha, I'm in the same boat of thinking TTD isn't all that in terms of intensity. The ride doesn't hold a candle to Xcele or Storm Runner, but that doesn't mean it's a bad ride by any means. Just not my cup of tea for the amount of time spent waiting in line. The more I've traveled the less important a lot of rides at CP have become to me, but thats a whole other topic. -

It's over before you know it. It all happens soo fast the only thing you might even have time to be scared about is the wait in the queue line. If you're not a fan of heights, Force is WAY worse on the fear factor scale. --Sean -
Strongest/Most forcefull Launch
Sean Menefee replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Strongest LIM launch- Chiller SFGAdv Strongest launch- Xcelerator KBF Best launch- Storm Runner Hershey Other then Dragster's 400 foot height, the ride really didn't do much for me over my last few visits to CP. The launch is fast, but very drawn out feeling by the time you get to the end of the track, and start up the tower. It just sorta looses it's intensity, where the other Rockets I've been on really kick you in the pants all the way down the launch track. I know that sounds sorta strange, but if you have been on most of the Intamin Rockets in the States, you should know what I'm saying I hope. Back on track..... Chiller was also a really great surprise for Kelly and I both. I loved the lap bars, and the roar the track makes adds to the intensity and intimidation factor. I've still never been on the Batman side of Chiller, but Robin was a lot of intense, comfortable fun for a LIM coaster. --Sean -
Where should i go?
Sean Menefee replied to divyking's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We did the SFGadv, Dorney, Hershey trek last week, and really enjoyed all three parks for the most part. Kelly and I both thought we could of easily spent 3 days or more at Hershey, because of the new Boardwalk water park area, wide coaster collection, and the Chocolate World stuff. -
Six Flags Great America
Sean Menefee replied to Calicoastin05's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great TR. My friends and I were out early last week for two days, and really enjoyed our visit again. This is my favorite park in the Six Flags chain, and really shows how good our "Knott's so Great America" really used to be, before Paramount ripped out all the classic charm. BTW American Eagle has a queue line from hell that never ends. -

Great photo TR, I really need to make my way to Florida again one of these years. --Sean -
Icee's aren't the way to rehydrate yourself my friend, it will only make you even more thirsty and dehydrated then before. As JJeerr said, get yourself plenty of water throughout your day, and make sure you eat a really good snack, or a complete meal and see if there is a difference. You should also run this by your doctor if you haven't had a check-up in the last year. It could be blood pressure, etc, so no need to take any chances that aren't warranted. Take care of yourself out there, it will make all your park experiences that much better. Cheers, --Sean

EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
Sean Menefee replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm looking forward to being able to finally compare the two of these rides, when we leave for our Midwest/East Coast trip in less then two weeks. I got a chance to check out Voyage last June, and it was unlike ANY wood coaster I've ever been on in a great way. Strong forces, crazy laterals, and the triple down is probably my favorite coaster element at this point. The airtime wasn't ejector or anything, but did get better later on in the afternoon. It's a top 5 ride on my list, but I'm sure Toro is going to give Voyage some good competition. --Sean -

Kelly and I got down to Discovery Kingdom yet again this weekend, to take advantage of the light crowds. The weather was poor, but I still managed to grab a new park update in between all of the rain. SFDK April 21st, 2007: Check out the photos below folks. Then click the link at the bottom, to see the full photo set in a larger format. We start off over at Elephant Encounter. It was awesome to see how playful of a mood the Elephants were in this afternoon. It really made for some fun pictures, even though the weather was so crapy. Discovery Kingdom updated their park navigation signs just recently. They look 100% better then last year, and should do a better job a pointing people in the right direction. The Shark was just recently fixed and reinstalled after a rough opening weekend. Over to Thomas Town construction........ The railroad tracks around the new Thomas Town area are now being installed. This shot is from inside the old Shoreline Express station. New track and ties going in the direction of the old Ski Stadium/Thomas Town area. Thomas Town is slowly but surely starting to take form now. You can see even more photos from this set by click this link below: 4/21/2007 Gallery: http://www.sm2designs.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=17 Thanks for checking out my thread, enjoy the pictures. Cheers, SM-

Kelly and I got down to the park for a few hours today. I mainly snapped one of the new parades, along with a few random photos for good measure. Here we go: Discovery Kingdom, April 15th, 2007 Here is one of DK's two new parades for 2007. This years opening banner puts last years to shame. (I don't even want to dig the picture out, it was really bad.) The parks VERY talented drum line. Captain Lee is the Where's Waldo of SFDK. The guy seriously gets around the park in an afternoon. SFDK's newest toy. The Wii Experience was pretty much jammed the whole time we were at the park. Nintendo did a nice job with the booths, and so far everything is still in working order. Random shot of Boomer with the new DK logo train. The land signs are still looking great. The shark that was on this sign has been missing for a few weeks now. You gotta wonder if a guest climbed on it, and broke it at this point. Kelly and I noticed a TON of little kids using these signs as playgrounds around the park. We also saw a bunch of staff working really hard to keep everyone off them as best they could. Work on Thomas Town is set to begin soon. To finish the update a few new Shouka/Dolphin Stadium signs. Taz side entrance. Also Taz side entrance. We had a fun afternoon. The park has been swamped ever since opening, so I guess the local advertising has really payed off this year. It's been a bit busy for my tastes, but it's nice to see them doing soo much business this early in the season. Last Notes: -V2 was running really well. -Medusa is running 3 trains almost daily. -Flash Pass is your friend if you're panning on making it to DK this year. -You can now get your season passes processed at Explorer Outpost from what we were told. We waited in an hour long line over by Medusa, to later find out E.O.'s lines were non existent. The park needs to do a better job at explaining this to people, it might save everyone a headache next time. -DK's new 4-D "Wilderness Adventure" is a real upgrade from the Stargate mess we have been stuck with. Make sure to check this out when you're up by Taz. -Cold Stone "Birthday Cake" is food of the gods. Time to get some sleep. Sean-
