2 KingDa Ka Questions
Sean Menefee replied to IwantRevenge's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Break = I have to take a lunch break shortly. Brake = The brakes on the coaster slowed the train to a stop. Also this thread has been pretty interesting info wise. Thanks to the posters who took the time to really breakdown how TTD & Ka work. -Sean -

Some shots of SFDK's Big Spin during fabrication have been posted here: http://www.sixflags.com/discoveryKingdom/rides/ConstructionPhotos.aspx The photos on the official site are small, so I made them a bit larger, and reposted them for you guys to check out. Credit goes to the SFDK for the photos. Quoted from the official website - "Workers assemble supports and track segments from Tony Hawk's Big Spin at the Gerstlauer factory in Germany. Once complete, the track and supports will be dismantled, painted and then shipped to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom." "Vertical construction of Tony Hawk's Big Spin at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is set to begin in early April." SFDK's version of Big Spin will be portable so the park can re-use Zonga's old slab and station.

The quote above is so true. This is me and my girlfriend of almost 4 years Kelly. She ended up being a bit of a converted theme park nerd you could say. Before she met me she loved parks, but only visited like normal people would. She actually helped balance out my coaster dorkyness so I don't embarrass myself (well...mostly her) too much.

I took my first trip to Kings Island this summer, and actually wished I had a bit more time to check the place out now. The mid-afternoon rain/wait for Beast looks mighty familiar as well. Back in June, Tomb Raider was still open so we took refuge inside till the pouring rain stopped. Then waited outside Beast's queue until squeegee dudes pushed all of the water out of our way. The park was pretty much rain and humidity soaked our entire visit, but we would still like to go back after they add their hyper coaster in 2009. Also a side note about our Midwest trips the last few years.... I had my first encounter with a Skyline Chili Cheese Dog at Kings Island last summer, and have come to the conclusion that no one should ever put that much cheese on a hot dog ever. I gotta dig the photos up for people who haven't seen them before, but it's seriously a heart attack on a bun. Great trip report, thanks for the photos. -Sean

Kelly and I finally got around to checking out Juno tonight and I wanted to add my thoughts and praises as well. Semi spoilers on the horizon folks, ye be warned................... - The Thundercats line near the end of the movie was 80's retro, laugh out loud goodness. Ellen Page delivers her lines in a way that looks like improv its so natural. She has a bright future ahead of her after shinning so brightly in this movie. - I will never look at my beloved Knott's Boysenberry products the same way ever EVER again! - It's so strange to see J.K. Simmons on OZ one night, then Juno the next. He's a super versatile actor, and it was great to see him playing Juno's father. As a male who experienced a teen pregnancy scare back when I was 18, my parents reacted the same way Juno's parents did. It's always nice to see the other side of that coin, instead of the "Your life is over, and you have shamed your family forever" scenario. - It was very interesting to watch the tables turn on how the audience viewed Vanessa and Mark. It almost felt like the story was going to go in a really weird direction for a second, but it was just another coming of age/maturing lesson for Juno. I know Kelly and I both were almost yelling "Don't do anything stupid Juno!!" at the screen during one of the last scenes with Mark. I honestly haven't felt this good leaving the movie theater in a long time. Something about this story hit home for me in a personal way, (and a ton of other people as I'm sure you already know.) Great job to everyone involved with this project, and I hope you all get the recognition you rightfully deserve. -Sean -

Some random shots and captions from 2007: Sean- We got back to Hershey in early June for the first time ever, and we honestly can't wait to go back. The whole Heryshey, Hershey Park, and surrounding areas experience really shouldn't be missed. We'll be back in 2009 to check out FH if all goes well. So I talked Kelly into driving all the way to Sparks Nevada, to rack up another coaster credit. As we pulled up to the parking lot, we both noticed a large patch of freshly bulldozed land to our right. Lesson Learned: Just because the website says the kiddie coaster is still standing, doesn't mean it really is. I'll be calling ahead next time before we drive 2 hours+ for a fun center coaster excursion.
