On Ride Photos
Sean Menefee replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was digging through some of my geek boxes this evening, and decided to add a few photos of my own. The Kelly's, Al, and me are getting pelted with rain in this shot of Raging Bull. On a funny note, for the first few years we dated, I don't think we took more then a few onride pictures where my fist wasn't in her face. I've since learned a bit of hand control, but most of these shots still crack me up. BTW... What's up with the guy behind Al on the right? Vintage 2005 Medusa shot here. Myself, Kelly, and Al snagging a Fright Fest night ride. Kelly and myself, middle row on TTD. (Singing Cow Voice) Hershey's Milk Chocolate 2007! This is from Coaster Mania 2007. There were bugs EVERYWHERE around Mean Streak, and for some reason I decided to keep my mouth open. (I was being rattled to death in my defense!) Kelly, Dan, and Cody were the smart ninjas in this picture. Candid shot of of myself here from WCB 2006. I was trying to not die of hypothermia as we climbed up Goliath's lift hill. -

Discovery Kingdom used to operate year round in the Marine World Africa USA days. Our weather here in Northern California isn't much of a problem, if ever during the winter months. SFDK's season has also been getting progressively longer over the last few years. (Open till New Years, re-opens in early March. For 2008, the park also added operating days for the entire month of November unlike last season.) The city of Vallejo just went bankrupt, so I'm not seeing that as prime real estate for strip malls and track housing, no matter how inflated Bay Area prices are. -Sean

A few teaser shots from my full photo update that will be posted at SM2 Wednesday morning. It's been forever ago since I've been to a theme park this season, and it was nice to get out shoot some photos again. Full update coming tomorrow morning folks! Harley Newman was back for Discovery Kingdom's 2008 Fright Fest event. If you get to SFDK this October, make sure you don't miss his Scandalous Side Show over in the Bird Theater. The guy is a real class act.

I'm seeing three videos streaming without any issues. <--- Is currently viewing TPR with Fire Fox 3 (Shiretoko 3.1a2.) I'm actually testing some new builds of SM2 this morning before work, and just looked at this thread with every major browser that I have open at the moment. It did well in the latest versions of Opera, Safari, Chrome, IE8, and FF3.0.3. -Sean

I work near the Capitol here in Sacramento, so I'm planning on hitting up some of the local gift shops after work today. Mine will be in the mail by Tuesday morning. Cheers, -Sean -

I rode the Xcelerator!
Sean Menefee replied to Rocket Rodder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Xcelerator was one of the first "big" coasters that I tackled in California. (I had an extreme fear of heights at that time.) The launch still packs a really good kick, and there is something super entertaining about seeing the trains rocket directly out of the station. The whole watching as people squirm right before the light turns green, makes for some good photo and video footage opportunities. I'm glad to hear the peer pressure finally got to you, it sounds like you ended up enjoying your ride. -Sean -
