  1. Dueling Dragons looks pretty fun, but I'm honestly more curious about Garden Fantasy. Is that a legit Mack or a chinese knockoff? Those suspended power coasters are a huge blast and I only know of two in the world (Europa and Motiongate).
  2. I'm probably wrong since I've not visited the park in a few years, but isn't the Raptor Encounter a wee bit close to the splash zone?
  3. Haven't really looked into it, but I don't think some extra chlorine would send people to a hospital and close a park unless it's a huge amount over what's needed. I've been in plenty of pools that aren't balanced properly and the only ill effect is the smell and eyes that feel like you put a little shampoo in it. I recall seeing someone mention a guest getting shocked, so maybe they discovered an electrical short in one of the ride systems and decided to shut it all down. A shaking box, most likely. Hopefully Mario Kart gets the SFX Coaster treatment.
  4. I wish Lagoon would take a lesson from Hansa Park and build the ride to be operational ASAP, work on the themeing after the fact. It took Karnan, what, three years to be fully themed? But it was operational and still became my #1 (effortlessly, I might add) back in 2016.
  5. Yeesh, that ain't good. Twister is a spinning mouse with those weird OTS restraints. Maybe he got paired with a large buddy and managed to get out from under it?
  6. ^ The rumor is most, if not all, existing Cirque shows at MGM properties will be going bye bye within the next two years. Run is a new show and new format, so hopefully it'll turn out well enough since it isn't going to the "same old crap" for the umpteenth time.
  7. As a local who works in the entertainment industry, I'm placing the blame entirely on the fees and lack of anything new. Cirque is running at around 40% seating filled per show right now. About 5 years ago they were running at 75% per show. Hotel occupancy is also down around 10-25% as opposed to five years ago (barring large conference takeovers). What else was 5 years ago? Oh yeah, free parking and resort fees that were $10 or $20 per night. Resort fees these days go from $30 to $60 PER NIGHT! People looking for a quick weekender will see these added fees and realize that if they really wanted to gamble they can probably find a casino close by these days. People who are repeat guests will no longer come once or twice a year to see what's new, either, because there IS nothing new. It's all the same major shows, there are no special events (like Venetian's awesome winter thing, RIP) on the strip. Local events, sure, but things the tourists would be notified of or would be willing to venture to fall to the wayside. Each hotel looks the same as it has for the past 10 years, which extra sucks because each hotel has been remodeled in the past 10 years to look nearly identical to every other one on the strip (WTF LUXOR?!). Vegas needs a kick in the pants. MGM and Caesars need to stop restricting budgets while increasing guest cost and start spending money to make money.
  8. ^ Rule #1 - Don't trust that website at all. Rules #2 - Desperado is definitely closed, along with everything else, including 90% of the food options.
  9. I'm really, REALLY hoping they updated most of the outdoor section, and I don't mean fresh paint. The entire lagoon scene could stay similar but once you get knocked off course should be pretty fresh. If they keep it as it was and only added the Indominus Rex for the finale I'm going to be deeply disappointed. Then again, this is Universal we're talking about. It's probably fresh paint and a few new water squirts. Yayyyyyyyy.
  10. ^ I feel like the Millennium Falcon ride is going to be that system but on a slightly smaller scale since they'll be 6-person (?) cockpits.
  11. Nice! I kinda want a Hogwarts Express style ride that takes guests through this scene - [youtu_be]https://youtu.be/NX3_JQHKaqA[/youtu_be]
  12. 1. Name 3 of your favorite roller coasters, but not your top 3. Batman: The Ride at SFFT. Love the flippy-doos. Manta at SeaWorld San Diego. One of the best crowd pleasers out there. Space Fantasy. Because ducking fuh. 2. About how many different parks did you visit in 2018? One. 2018 was a big year what with another cross-country move, getting married, and a honeymoon to Hawaii. Parks fell to the wayside. That's gonna be changing this year, though! 3. Which 2018 park visit was your favorite? Well, I only visited Knott's and I only did it twice, both for Scary Farm. So, you know, one of those. 4. Your favorite 2018 park addition (ride, food, show, etc)? The Depths haunt at Scary Farm. 5. What ride exceeded your expectations the most in 2018? Ghost Rider. When I last rode it after the renovation I found it to be fun but not nearly as intense as it used to be. It has broken in BIG TIME since then. Riding it during Scary Farm was insane. It screams through the course and has forces out the yin yang! 6. Best meal/food at a park in 2018? Mrs. Knott's Chicken. 7. What was your favorite new coaster of 2018 NOT made by RMC or Larson? Not applicable. 8. Name one park you will definitely visit in 2019. Disneyland. 9. Best ride themed to a bird? VOGEL. FRICKIN. ROK. 10. Lamest ride/coaster you rode in 2018? Pony Express. 11. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2019 ride) Not really sure. Olympia Looping jumps to mind. 12. What new-for-2019 ride or coaster are you most looking forward to? Maxx Force sounds pretty cool if it can actually live up to the announcement. I still doubt that 60mph barrel roll will happen after Maverick's shenanigans. 13. Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind. Parc Asterix. 14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose... Space Mountain. No question. 15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme? Knott's Merry Farm or Smoky Mountain Christmas. Get outta here with your amateur crap. 16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion? FIRE!!!!!! 17. Which Six Flags have you been to most recently? Great Adventure. 18. Intamin or Schwarzkopf? You may only choose one. Intamin. 19. Battle of Kings Coasters: Island or Dominion? Pick one. Dominion. They have I305. 20. What was the longest you waited for a ride/coaster in 2018? 30 minutes for Ghost Rider. 21. What roller coaster have you ridden more than any other? Probably Great American Scream Machine (RIP) at SFGAdv. Working on that ride for a summer doing the daily tests takes a toll. 22. Best drop tower under 150 feet? Any Intamin 1st generation. 23. Maverick or Millennium Force? (If you haven't been to CP, pick what you want to ride more) Millie, only because I haven't been to CP since Maverick opened. 24. Log flumes or sky rides? You can only choose one. Flumes, baby. 25. What are 3 things you enjoying doing at your home park other than riding rides? Hmm, my home park in Vegas would be the Adventuredome, soooooo I'd say literally anything else aside from setting foot inside Circus Circus. 26. What is your second favorite Cedar Fair park and why? King's Dominion. They have I305. 27. What is your home park and give us two good reasons why we should pay it a visit. The Adventuredome, and I can't in good faith ever recommend anyone visit. 28. Launch or Lift? Depends on what happens after the launch or lift. 29. Did you buy fast pass at all in 2018? Fright Lane, if that counts. 30. What is your least favorite wooden coaster? Cyclone at SFNE before RMC made it good. 31. Disney fanboys: cool or cult? Depends on the fanboy. 32. Best Batman themed ride? The themeing at SFGAdv was pretty great back in the day before they let it rot. 33. Name something that tend to take home from parks that you didn't bring with you. Receipts. 34. Best wooden coaster over 110 feet tall? (rcdb will help you) Outlaw Run has a 107 foot lift with a 162 foot drop. If that doesn't count then Iron Rattler. 35. Have you ever been hit with something (loose change/a tree/vomit/etc) while riding something? Someone's hat. 36. Skywarps: credits or no? State your case. No. It's a glorified carnival ride. 37. Turkey legs: nah or yaaaaassssss? Yup. 38. What is the most recent B&M that you rode? Silver Bullet. 39. You can eat nothing but corn dogs, churros or funnel cake for the next 48 hours, which do you choose? Churros. 40. Post a great on-ride shot of you from 2018. (DO IT!) Not applicable.
  13. Nice! Finally something on that side of the park. JtA always felt so alone in that corner.
  14. Anyone have more information on this? Something seems fishy to me. https://amp.app.com/amp/2387660002
  15. Holy crap, Flock Of Seagulls is still around?!
  16. If there is a just and loving god then this will be a clone of Karnan from Hansa Park. That thing is life changing.
  17. And it's SMALLER than Oasis class. Like, a lot smaller. 3,000 more people in a tighter space? Sounds like China to me!
  18. I'm glad to see Vogel Rok got some lovin'. Yeah, it's a short ride but I really enjoy it. Simple layout but they really nailed the illusion of high speed.
  19. ^ IIRC only the Huss Frisbee was added there behind the bumper cars, which was a horrible location because nobody knew it existed.
  20. Or just ride it at night. It's like being in a wicked outer space battle with a heroin addict at the wheel. You can't see ANYTHING after the launch.
  21. Oh man, I love the single rider line and all, but when the ride op says I "got lucky" and to take row 1 I scream internally and pray my shoes are spared.
