Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Carnage replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Those were all built in sunny southern California though. Building a coaster in the north east is much more undpredictable. Behemoth was way ahead schedule as well, but then a long stretch of bad weather shut down construction for awhile. It's probably why rides like these are starting construction earlier and earlier. It's much better to get most of the higher work done before the snow starts slowing down construction. -

Only two giga-coasters exist if I'm not mistaken. -

Coming out of the 1st turn on the island before the overbank is where I always feel the forces most on MF. -

That sounds like a pretty interesting idea. -

I can't even remember the last time I waited 2 hours for MF. I've been averaging 30-45 minutes the last few years. -
To me, a good wooden coaster needs to have quick transitions, direction changes, sharp hills, etc. All of which can't be done properly on a massive wooden coasters. Giant wooden coasters tend to be more drawn out, with long gradual hills and transitions. All you end up with is a fast moving bumpy boring ride. There are dozens of <=100foot wooden coasters out there which totally blow most of the wooden giants out of the water.

Surprise crotch buster

Last year that POS cracked me in the temple before even the first drop. I spend the rest of the ride dazed. At Behemoth Bash, the rideop was standing on the cars while letting riders out, thus preventing that. Too bad though, as I always enjoy watching people get caught off guard. I've seen some guys get nailed real hard on that ride. The S&S drop tower seats can be painful. I slipped on the wet pavement getting off of Liberty Launch and fell straight forward ... -

It has it's origins in carnivorous bees.

Photo Trip Report: Indy Zoo and Lucas Oil Stadium

Though really is American football even played outside of the US? So calling them world champions makes more sense then other sports that are common over seas. And no one in Canada is going to object, as the CFL is a laughing stock. It's a common rumor that the CFL folding will give Toronto a shot at an NFL team. Although a slim shot at that. -
You'd be better off trying to improve your sleeping patterns. If possible of course. When I used to work in a bakery the random starting times caused havok with my sleeping patterns. Trying to keep yourself awake with coffee or enery drinks will just cause you to crash hard. Coffee will give you a quick burst of energy, but give it an hour or two when it wears off and your energy will drop suddenly.

Future Coaster Trip!
Carnage replied to screaminkid2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And with a trip that long you would need to put extra planning into how you're going to drive that much. What car are you going to drive? Will said car even be reliable enough to make it on a month long trip? At the very least you might need an oil change partway through. And also planning ahead for tough drives across the deserts and mountains. There's a pretty decent chance that your car might break down partway through this trip unless you provide constant maintenance. -
Future Coaster Trip!
Carnage replied to screaminkid2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Admission costs are going to be the least of your worries. The price of gas and hotels is what's going to be the major blow. Plus you're looking at like a month long trip. I'd be shocked if you could do this trip for under $6-$7 grand. How many high school kids can afford that? If you can pull it off, well that'd be great as that should be a trip to remember. But pulling it off is going to be a challenge. The logistics of planning a trip around the country is pretty daunting. -
Ahh, but young people are also more likely to get injured doing stupid things. If I had to actually pay for the treatment from when I sprained my ankle, or when I dislocated my collar bone I'd be broke.

It has nothing to do with not accepting other opinions. Most people even accepted that being a teenager is probably why you didn't "get" the whole SDC experience. It was the way you expressed your opinions that came off wrong. You basically said, the rides were awesome, the food was awesome, the park atmosphere was awesome, but the park sucks. Just seemed odd the way you complained and then went on to explain all the things you thought were great.

It's not a "feature". It's just a bug in phpBB. It's a minor inconvenience that after experiencing once, most people learn to adjust. No sense making too much of a fuss over it.

Many people get tripped up by that. The problem is that the preview page displays them backwards, but they still post in the order you add them. So if you add two pics, hit preview, they are going to show up in reverse order. But once you submit they will display in order. If you try and flip them so that they come out normal in the preview, they will show up backwards in the final post.

Dispute at Cedar Point on August 9th
Carnage replied to FeelTheFORCE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had a similar experience. A guy in front of us in line for MF had to be told by a ride host to put out his smoke. This was right at the base of the ramp going to the station. He then proceeded to light up another smoke after getting a bit further up the ramp. The ride host walked up and told him to get out of line, at which point he gave him attitude. Ride host went back and called it in. Cops were waiting for him at the unload station when we got up there, pulled him out of line asking him how much he had to drink. By the time I got off the ride he was on the midway in cuffs. -

"I love toxic waste". Nice! From someone who makes his living off of the shady disposal practices of evil corporations, I definetly approve. Four carnivorous bees out of five. -

Nice video Erik! I feel wet again just watching that clip of Riptide. The second pass through the water curtain knocked the wind out of me from the cold blast. -
I don't get it. You thought the rides were top notch, the atmosphere cool, the smells awesome, and a lot of nice shade, but you didn't like the park?? Don't you kind of contradict yourself? I don't understand how you're "ranting" about a park after listing a few things that you really liked about it.
