  1. ^ Hence the wink. We knew we were in trouble when it started to walk up the lift hill. That was probably the worst ride I've had on it yet that day.
  2. No love for Wild Beast Erik?
  3. Should have paid more for the stuff that doesn't taste like recycled piss. I'm going to a wedding Saturday where I will probably drink until I don't feel feelings anymore.
  4. I really liked the sunset station shot. Quite cool. The best pictures are taken somewhat by accident.
  5. You can buy discount tickets at the hotel lobby desk. And there is no age restriction. You'll have no problems buying them yourself. When you get to the hotel just go buy the tickets from the front desk, and they'll give you ticket vouchers that are good for any day.
  6. Think of the way tourist will react. When someone goes to Orlando they are going to want to visit the Giant Wheel for the view they will get of the surrounding area. So I do not think it is pointless when it comes to being a tourist attraction. Well after riding the London Eye, the first 5 minutes was interesting. Then the next 30 minutes was pure boredom waiting for the ride to end. And everyone I've talked to who've ridden it has said the same thing. And what is there really to see around Orlando anyways? Not exactly a scenic view. At least the one in London and Niagara Falls has interesting attractions to look at right beside them. This one looks at what, a convention center??
  7. Actually, hugging a support column garnered a warning during our walkback.
  8. They definetly have different speed settings. For instance the one's at Lake Compounce went about as fast as Knoebels seat belt check. Asking the op to speed it up so that you can snap them is not going to do anything. They're not going to crank it up so that you can damage the ride. In fact many parks have no snapping policies, so all you're going to do is draw attention to yourself, and get yourself kicked off once you do snap them.
  9. To be honest, for some reason I kept thinking he died years ago.
  10. The balance of weight in the boat can affect how wet you get as well. Last time I was at Darien Lake I rode the log flume with my brother, even weighted, we came off dry. We went back on and stuck my sister-in-law in front of him, she got drenched by a tidal wave. What made it even funner was that at the top of the drop the ride op took one look at us and said "oh, she's getting soaked".
  11. It's just as smooth now as it was opening day. Although there is more of a "rattle" now, but I think that's just the fiberglass frames rattling. Not the ride itself.
  12. It's been sitting there for quite awhile I believe. That's just the old Batman stand up that was stored at Darien Lake after Astroworld was turned into a parking lot.
  13. I find the Wonderland waterpark has some good slides, but just not nearly enough. I always find the lines get too bad there.
  14. I was feeling it pretty good by the end of the day as well. When your body is exhausted, the forces will feel that much more intense. I had a wicked cramping feeling going on at the bottom of drops, etc. But I stuck it out to the end. I'm not one to pass on empty seats during ERT.
  15. Sounds like the wheel that was at Southport's fun house. Link
  16. It's a Back to the Future joke.
  17. I found both the front and back have decent airtime, but in quite a different way. The front kind of has a stalling, throw yourself forward type airtime. Where the back is more of a whiplash type airtime, where the train is pulling you over the hill. The front felt a bit more abrupt, where as the back was a bit more consistent.
  18. I did have sunglasses. They were just in my trunk broken in two peices.
  19. They took us along the first drop side first. Then afterwards they took us to the spot past the station. Did you wander away when we walked to the second spot?
  20. +1, the hotels in Sandusky are like a mine field. They are real hit or miss. Breakers Express though is a pretty consistent decent hotel.
  21. Sorry, I can't remember names. But one was an operations manager, and the other was a maintenance manager. The coke/pepsi question was raised by Elissa and it was mentioned that they have a contract with Coke through 2012. A lot of the questions were the type that they could only say "we've looked into that, but nothing immediate is planned"
  22. I think I've finally dried off from Riptide.
  23. Coffee, lots of coffee. By the time I got home, washed up, and to sleep it was probably well after 2am. I think it probably won't hit me until mid evening. I'll probably be a zombie tonight. It was an awesome event. I thought it went as perfectly as it could. The park wasn't too busy, and eveyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Well, other then Wild Beast that most people were mentioning along the same lines as Predator. That ride just keeps getting worse and worse.
  24. I used to live next to train tracks. Damn things blocked the tracks, giving me an extra 30 minute walk home when my house was just 50 feet away. TAER TEHM DOWN!!
  25. What I remember reading about Megazeph wasn't regarding the track. It was the footers that had extensive damage from the flooding. But I haven't seen that confirmed at all.
