  1. ^ Some of the lighthouse point cabins could be a pretty good deal for a large group. They cost about the same, or a bit less then Breakers. Most I think have like a bed, bunk beds, and then a futon or two. If you've got a couple people interested in sleeping on air mattresses, it'd probably make it a pretty cheap stay.
  2. Well, when we're talking $200+ hotel we're referring to Breakers, which is on the peninsula. Breakers Express is not a $200 a night hotel, even in July. So if you want early entry Breakers Express is a decent option. Express really is about the same price as a Holiday Inn Express or something. I'm not sure it's worth it to save $20 a night by staying in some dive. Also keep in mind, the room is alot more affordable if you have multiple people. I'm going with 4 people, so it's more like $50 a night. Buying the platinum pass just for the early entry really isn't worth it IMHO. The platinum pass is really only worth it if you're going to go to at least three CF parks, or you go to 2 CF parks alot. If you're only going to go to one park most of the time, with a single trip to CP fit in, then it's probably cheaper to get a normal season pass and pay normal admission to CP. At least that's how it always works out when I price stuff out for my friends. They're better off getting a normal CW season pass if they want, and then pay normal admission to CP. As the difference between a normal and platinum pass is more then two days admission.
  3. You know, I got this feeling that I had seen one of the double loop pics before. I just couldn't put my finger on it. Then I realized it was your avatar I had seen it in before.
  4. ^ We're paying a bit under $200 a night this weekend. Course, when you're splitting the room 4-ways it's easier to stomach the increased cost.
  5. ^ By late June Breakers itself is definetly overpriced. Though in May it's close enough to make it worth it. I'm going this weekend, staying at Breakers. Breakers itself this weekend isn't all that more expensive then Express. Though I found that every week later you check, the rates get farther and farther apart. By the 2nd week of June I found the price of Breakers was more then it's worth. If it's like $20/person difference it's worth it. But when it gets to like $70-$100/person difference over express, that's far too much.
  6. Also if you check in late, there's the chance Bon Air is full, getting you a free upgrade to Breakers Tower. That happened to us last year. Just go to resorts.cedarpoint.com and get a room quote that is at least two nights. Packages require a two night stay. Unless you get a package. Breakers Express packages include a parking voucher for free parking.
  7. I don't think we'll ever see that game come out. Though in the slim chance it does, it might make more sense for someone to buy the title and slap it onto a game already in development. It's just better that they put it to rest, and stop beating the dead horse. This game has been vapour ware for so long that the expectations would be way to high. Even if it is finished, an average or good game would be a letdown after waiting nearly two decades for it.
  8. No one writes captions like you Chuck.
  9. Just be glad you don't live in Ontario, the land of legalized crime known as car insurance. My Hyundai costs me $1,440 a year for basic liability only. The insurance costs more then the car does.
  10. As far as what to count, and what not to count, I personally just make a judgment call. Basically I go by "if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck". That's why I have no problem counting powered coasters. The fact that it doesn't coast under it's own power doesn't mean anything to me.
  11. Considering how bad Tomb Raider at PCW is, I'd think that Elitches is doing you a favour by closing Flying Coaster.
  12. Never really thought of this before. I guess I would associate merry-go-round typically with smaller, kiddy type rides. Carousels I'd associate with much larger, grander, more family friendly rides.
  13. ^ Theme Review Park sure is a good place to hang out.
  14. ^ I think it's part of the transfer track beside the brake run. Last year's preview night was packed with Behemoth opening. Too bad I didn't make it out this year. Though I went down a week ago to get my pass processed.
  15. They'll give you a resort identification card that you use to get in for early entry. It's valid for each day or your stay, including the day you check out. It should be good for 4 people per room.
  16. Technically yes. There's one main parking lot back there by Gemini. But then there's another parking lot for Hotel Breakers. Not sure if there's parking lots for Sandcastle and Lighthouse Point though.
  17. Carnage

    B&M Rattle?

Last time I rode Iron Wolf it cracked me in the temple before evening entering the first drop. I spent the rest of the ride pretty woozy.
  18. Cedar Point has a few official hotels. Staying at any Cedar Point resort will also get you into the park an hour before the general public. Breakers Express is their cheapest hotel, but no shuttle to the park is provided. (you would have to take a taxi there and back if you have no car). There's also a couple hotels (Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle Suites) which are right next to the park. So if you stay there you can walk to the park. Though those hotels will be very expensive in late June/July. If you stay at one of those hotels the early entry will get you in to ride Maverick and Millenium Force before the crowds get in.
  19. ^ Well Soak City and Challenge Park are separate from Cedar Point. So they have to provide parking without having to go through Cedar Point. Though if you do ever park in the main lot, I find the trick is to park on the side farther away from the marina. On the the opposite site of the main roadway at least. Although in the morning they direct you to a spot, you'd probably end up there anyways. But when you go out, don't get into the main line, instead follow the fence line. There's a 2nd exit which no one seems to use. From there you can either turn left and take the long way back to the mainland, or turn right and wait for the parking attendant to stop traffic to let you through. Regardless, going this way tends to be much quicker then waiting in the main line of traffic going out.
  20. I'm not surprised at all. Although I thought they had a chance this year. They've gotten a reputation of being a team that does great in the regular season, but gives up in the playoffs. They're alot like some past Ottawa Senators teams. Teams that dominate during the season, but come April they can't perform.
  21. No they don't. Or at least they've never asked me for that info.
  22. Just go to the far left parking booth. Just tell them you're going to hotel breakers, or soak city, or challenge park. They won't give you any trouble, and will just send you back there.
  23. You may want to give Dragster some time to warm up. (or at least see how it's running at opening). In the spring/fall it takes at least an hour or so before they start loading full trains, etc. Though in August I would imagine that it's warm up period would be far less. Though when running well Dragster's line moves very quickly. It can crank through a large crowd in no time. Pending any breakdowns of course. I don't think I've been to the park once and not seen it down at one point or another. Although quite often it'll only be down for 10-15 minutes. As long as the weather is decent and it looks to be running well I'd say go for it. As long as the line isn't like 2 hours long.
  24. ^ Demon Drop rarely has a line when ever I go. Even in June I can't see it having a line longer then like 10-15 minutes. Demon Drop is the ride my friends and I re-ride often. With no wait we'll often ride it two or three times in a row.
  25. It was the same thing with SARs. The only people who died of SARs were elderly, or had existing respiratory illnesses. Obviously it was real big deal, however not a risk to those who were healthy. Sounds like the same thing here. Serious enough to know of, but not really a risk. It seems like every year the media names a new disease, and reports how it's the next massive outbreak.
