Reminds me of a bit from a comedian I watched talking about a guy that tied himself to a palm tree to show that he was in good enough shape to handle the winds from a hurricane. Went something like "It's not THAT the wind is blowing. It's WHAT the wind is blowing. It doesn't matter how many sit ups you did that morning if you get hit by a Volvo" An F1 might not be powerful enough to wipe out an entire town, but going towards it wouldn't be all that bright. A few fence posts in 100mph winds are still going to be able to do quite a bit of damage.

That drop tower was pretty strange. The launch up was unpredictable, as well as quite jarring. And yet the downward launch was tame as can be. Too bad they were only running like 3 boats on the log flume. We started waiting in line, only to quickly figure out that the short line was going to take forever. -
I wonder if Wild Beast got some work done during this past off season? I haven't ridden it this year yet, but the last couple of years it's ridden much worse then "very average to below average". Last years ride during Behemoth Bash was particularly awful. You were right about the schools. Schools in this area don't get out until like the last week of June or so.

PA Amusement Park Advice
Carnage replied to eagleshot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say Knoebels simply because you're already going to be at Hershey. Kennywood is a nice park, but it's also on the opposite side of the state from Hershey. It would be easier, and involve less driving to do Hershey/Knoebels. -
The only advantage I can see to linking to your pictures is more flexibility in how you display them. You can write paragraphs in between pictures, and space things however you see fit. With uploading your pictures you're limited to pictures with captions in order. I still think uploading is better, but there is a certain attraction to remote linking.

Photo TR: A trip to Cedar Point 09
Carnage replied to coasterfreaksrttd's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Seems like a decent camera to me. Pretty much all of us start off with simple cameras, and then with practice work up to more expensive cameras. Good shots in there though. If I had to pick one shot that showed the camera's weakness it'd be the closeup of MFs lift hill. Was that using a digital zoom or software crop? Can kind of see the graininess in it. But regardless, nice job on a first TR. -

Too bad the on-ride photo wasn't right at the point where the supports failed. I would have bought every on-ride photo from that train. -
Well, I'm 6"3' and had no problem with everything in Florida. I'm sure he'll have no problems.

^ Did you read that in this thread?

Depends on when. If peak of the summer season, 2 hours is probably likely for the most popular rides. MF, TTD, Maverick could be around that. The rest of the rides probably more around the hour range or less, depending on the ride. Obviously though, later in the summer you go, the better lines will get.

To be honest, the area around Cedar Point doesn't offer all that much stuff to do. Unless you're interested in the odd mini golf course, go-kart track, or shopping. Cedar Point isn't very high on the list of parks that have other stuff to do in the area.

I wouldn't really call MaxAir slim. Same thing with the S&S towers and flats. Unless you have really big shoulders/upper body, you should be alright with those. MaxAir I can only see being a problem if you have really broad shoulders. -
It could be used for a queue line, some sort of pathway, or maybe transfer track to a big new ride. The small details shouldn't be ruled out. Chaos is on the opposite side of the midway from the stadium and DT. (two spots in the area where a large expansion could go). So if a ride was put in either spot, the Chaos location would not be used for a queue, transfer track, or pathway. Any of that sort of stuff would be on the opposite side of the midway. The spot Chaos sits on would really only be needed if they were going to build something on that side of the midway. Which would probably seem less likely, unless they do a complete overhaul of the kids area there. (which I guess is possible). I just don't think removing Chaos would be for construction purposes. I think they would get rid of it just to scrap it, as the spot it sits on is so tiny. Unless they are going to put a new dip'n'dots stand in. I guess that would fit in Chaos' footprint.
-
^ The stadium/pirate ship, and disaster transport/Troika are probably both possibles of stuff to be moved/removed to fit in a larger expansion. But Chaos isn't really in a spot that would be included in a larger plan. Unless they would tear out the entire kids area there.
-
^ I would assume nothing. If they get rid of it, I'm sure it's just a cost cutting measure. The space it's in wouldn't give them space to do anything major with. At most the space freed up would provide them space for another tiny flat ride.

Stratosphere's New 'Ride'
Carnage replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, maybe somewhat. I rode Vertigo at Cedar Point in like the month it was open, and it had a controlled free fall. I remember it being an odd feeling. I thought to myself "I should be falling fast, with my stomach getting pulled out ... but I'm not". Though you do have a point, that controlled free fall or not, it will be freaky as hell stepping off that platform. -
the big holes at the back of wave pools

^ If I remember the story correctly, they also didn't find the kid for awhile right? -
How big is the queue though? I doubt the park would really miss it.
-
May as well scrap it. No one rides it anyways. Even with Wicked Twister there now, no one rides this or Trokia.

Best Seat On Wicked Twister?
Carnage replied to Retro_Gaga's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
2nd from last as others have said. Although if you don't get right at the back, pick the 1st seat in any car. So starting from the back of the train, ever other row will be the front of that car. This will give you a mostly unobstructed view no matter where you sit. If you sit in any of the other seats the row of seats in front of you will block your view. -
Well, if he's only interested in rides, Epcot isn't the place to spend alot of time at. Unless you have a park hopper, and just want to spend an hour or so to do Test Track and Mission Space.

Carnage replied to coastersrule85's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The test seat can quite often though be different than the ride itself. CP is known for that. Millenium Force in particular. In fact, MF's seat belts can vary from train to train and seat to seat. Not to mention how much slack is required on the belt, and wether the ride op is able to help or not, which can vary from month to month and season to season. -
Well, you should realize that Universal Orlando and IoA are side by side. You can easily walk between them. So assuming you have a ticket good for both parks, you could walk over there, ride Mummy, HRRR, and anything else you're interested in, and then go back to IoA.
