Six Flags Mexico (SFM) Discussion Thread
cal1br3tto replied to zburns999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually just noticed that RCDB finally added the RMC remakes as new, separate coasters, listing their former wooden versions as defunct rides. Here's SFM's page, for example. This is already looking striking with the new track! -

Weird Coaster Facts
cal1br3tto replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"'Cause theme parks are so much more fun when the sun's outside And I lost my phone to the lake beneath the Batman ride" Thanks to this post, now I'll remember which Batman that was. You know, after all those nights I spent wondering. -
Of the other parks you're considering, I think Idlewild has the most enjoyable atmosphere. It doesn't have anything I would call a "big ride," but several attractions that could appeal to all ages. I'd say the delightful Mr. Rogers trolley is a must there. Hopefully, they'll bring back the Caterpillar, as I believe was rumored. They do have a log flume, too. Dorney is mainly a thrill park, but that's not to say it's impossible to relax there. They do have a classic Whip (as do several other PA parks), and the flume is very enjoyable.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Definitely don't just stick to the most enthusiast-popular row on a coaster. A lot of rides are equally good, though different, in the front row and the back row. Sometimes, the back is more highly praised but the front is even better. Magnum does have plenty of back row fans (I do think that 1.3 is more fun than the first row of the last car, though). -

^It is very therapeutic to see these updates. Nah, I know what you meant. I forgot how much I love indoor coasters. The layout really does look wicked. -

Darn, someone already took my joke about direct sunlight and plenty of water. -
Least favourite type of coaster?
cal1br3tto replied to Angle O. Descent's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll ride everything, but there are definitely a few types that no longer have much appeal. Arrows in general. Most Vekomas (exceptions: GIBs, Invertigos, flyers). Most mine trains and wild mice. I also used to be more tuned in to the unique ride experiences offered by various kiddie coasters. Now, not so much. -
Mass ride removal trends
cal1br3tto replied to megametal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Perhaps not as much of a trend as a coincidence, but: classic wild mice. The Miler at Adventure City and the Herschell Monster Mouse at Washington State Fair were intentionally closed recently, and the Miler at Funtown Pier in New Jersey was destroyed. Also, the Herschell Monster Mouse at Amusement Park Drive In has yet to open. Currently, there are only two classic Miler Mice operating, two Herschell Mad Mouses, and no Monster Mouses. Save the mousies! -

Gemini: very good racer, but only about average for a coaster. For racers, I put it below Lightning Racer, on par with Racer at Kennywood, and well above the rest. Unlike too many others, CP seems fairly committed to racing it. However, I didn't get the plentiful airtime that others report, or much excitement outside of the enjoyable racing effect. -

And final destination for the old bumper cars is...Miracle Strip at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, Florida. I remember looking at the field of cars at Playland and wondering, "Wait...why is there a cat?" Link Ready to leave Vancouver. Note the inexplicable cat. Source: Miracle Strip Facebook page. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Is it true that the secret to more comfortable rides on Magnum is pulling your seatbelt as tight as possible? I tried it, but don't have enough experience to know if it works. It's too bad those lap bars tend to auto-staple. My mind seems to process the airtime on Magnum as more charming and quirky as opposed to extreme and amazing. -
I had always imagined the make your own candy bar attraction as something way more simplistic and less automated. That looks pretty fun. Also, even though I don't consider it amazing, I'm glad to see some praise for Fahrenheit.

^So it's supposed to be dinosaur-themed? Is there a such thing as an Elephantosaurus? Because that fuzzy thing is ADORABLE.
