Wow! That was quite the update! Very nice seeing the ride's construction from beginning to end. The boat ride was nice but I think everyone will enjoy el loco a bit more. I'll have to check it out next time I roll through vegas -

I don't 'get' TTD or Kingda Ka
Gnome replied to etr102's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Was that, at one point, actually being considered for TTD? -
Poll: Favorite Inversion?
Gnome replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The loop is probably by far my favorite. It's definitely the most gut wrenching, imo. I think the zero g roll is probably a close second though. Would have loved to have seen how the roll that was supposed to go on Maverick would have turned out! -
Knott's Merry Farm 2013
Gnome replied to ILoveRides's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The entertainment offerings look solid! Quality shows are honestly the best way to help eat up an entire day and it looks like Knotts continues to improve on their family offerings. Every update this site puts on the webpage, its easy to see the improvements. The park looks great! I look forward to going back -
If you want to do everything in the park, zoo, and chocolate world including creating your own chocolate bar, I would recommend two days. Great pics and TR, Aaron! Making your own chocolate bar sounds so amazing. Im a fatty at heart.

Ken's Random Adventures of 2013 Trip Reports Thread
Gnome replied to kidcoaster 2's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Wow! Looks like you got to experience some awesome looking places during your visit! Uni Singapore looks absolutely amazing! The detail in the facades and the immersion looks incredible. Honestly, though, it makes me scratch my head how well done far, far way is. Seems like a waste that they just have Shrek 4D and not a better attraction like a dark ride! -
Usually what most of these kinds of rides do is they set up their own story that incorporates iconic moments from the franchise. Think about indiana jones and the temple of the forbidden eye. It pulls from elements of all 3 movies but it stands alone on its own adventure. The mummy attractions are the same, not really falling into the canon of the series, but it still delivers an experience that feels like "the mummy." If they were to make the ride, I think they would go that route. It would be a good nod to fans of the series without alienating those not familiar with the IP

Great report! A tad bit jealous you were able to catch Medusa before the conversion. -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
Gnome replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Secretly, goliath's sfmm restraint system makes me uncomfortable as they're so bare. With that said, i wish there was more air time past the first half of the ride. It would make it that much more uncomfortably fun to ride. -
what? why? It'd be a shame to get rid of the Snoopy Bounce because its been there forever and almost seems like a symbal at this point. Doesn't the park already have enough family friendly coasters? Wish they would build something more substantial for children. They already have Jaguar, Timberline Twister, Pony Express, and now Coast Rider. I think some more variety in different types of family attractions and experiences would be good. A lot of younger kids are still pretty terrified of coasters regardless of how thrilling they are simply because they look intimidating.

Half of you will hate on it and call it cheating, but at the end of the day, next time you find yourselves in Florida, you will still take time out of your travel to go ride this thing. MARK MY WORDS!!!! And regardless, it's still an impressive piece of engineering. I'd rather see something new and different like this then another TTD/Ka variant. Not to mention 8000 feet of track! that's 1405 feet longer then Millennium Force. It should provide a pretty decent ride experience at worst and I've been pretty impressed with what S&S has been bringing to the table recently. -
If kbf didnt ever get a major coaster for the next 5 years and just continued improving what they had, I dont think I would complain. Of course I wouldnt be upset if the right kind of coaster came, either. The only disappointment with this announcement is I guess we'll have to eait on any serious GR refurb

Honestly, don't expect it to be anything different from what's at IoA. It would be cool, but I just don't see them making that happen. Historically, USH has always gotten "watered" down versions of its Florida counter parts. ET and the Mummy come to mind. Not that they will water down these additions, but I don't think we can expect it to be substantially different from Florida's version.

Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread
Gnome replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The pricing looks to be relatively affordable in general. Very curious to see how the new coaster rides. -
That sounds like the only possible way to do it. Unless they hired a real wizard It's a team job: one employee will yell " Hey did you just take his wallet? He just took that guy's wallet!" Then as the guest are looking they'll quickly place the food on the table. I lol'd pretty hard at that. Sounds like it could be a logistical nightmare but only time will tell. I think people would be more concerned with the setting then how the food gets to them. But this is probably a mandate coming down from "Your highness"

I'm not sure what you mean by straightforward layout. I haven't seen to many Kumba clones around. Well, when you think about it, its not to much different from Kraken or the Medusa clones. Standard B&M swooping turn drop, loop, dive loop, 0 g roll into a cobra roll, exit cobra roll into break run. Drop off MCBR into interlocking corkscrews. Of course, if you continue to think about it, Kumba was the attraction that made that layout the standard B&M sit down layout. And, imo, it does it far better then the others. There's plenty of elements that make the ride stand out in my mind. The terrain/path interaction. The overall environment. Least we forget that tunneled helix for a closer.

Kumba Kraken Hulk Scream Medusa (West) Scream and Medusa are pretty mediorcre imo. Hulk and Kraken fall some where between good and great. And Kumba, honestly, just can't be touched in terms of b&M sitdowns imo.

Arcade FIre's new album "Reflektor" is brilliantly produced. If you guys haven't listened to it, I highly recommend it to the Alt-Rock fans on this site.
