  1. I think you summed up SB perfectly. Over time I've been able to accept it as it is for a fun and reridable looper that mixes up the coaster collection at knotts. Montezooma's Revenge, back seat going through the loop backwards STILL gives me butterflies. While I hated it as a kid, love it now. Also, why so much hate on GR? I know its rough but come on, she's old and has been in the hands of a corporate park! I still rank GR in my top 10, but then again the boss is my number 1 ahead of even timber terror and tremors. Suppose I dont mind the pain so much or Im just very nostalgic.
  2. Don't understand why it would be so difficult to give hotel guests a passcode when they check in (or receive a text message with a new daily code for the length of their stay) that would allow them the privilege of early access to reserve a fast pass for an attraction before the typical guest. Then non hotel guests would only be allowed access once the park opens and once per hour. Then again, I don't exactly understand how fp+ works.
  3. Personally, I'm the most excited about Twisted Colossus as I know Im going to ride it next year. Not only that, but it should be a top contender for roller coasters and I'm excited to get more of those under my belt, and to finally break the RMC cherry. I'm also really excited to see how Iron Cyclone turns out. If it was likely that I was going to visit SFNE any time soon, I would be most excited for this ride. I think the 1-2 punch of this attraction and Superman really make SFNE a must visit park for me that I'll have to get to asap. Other ride of interest for me is Fury. It looks like a better Leviathan to me. It's more interesting and it's got a lot of arial acrobatics. Not much airtime, but I think if the ride pulls some good forces, it could be a top contender as far as B&M hypers go. Looking at that list, though, there are some really neat sounding projects in the pipeline. I'm intrigued to see how the Geurstlauer hyper turns out, and I'm excited to see what they do with those new dive machines going to various European parks. The dive machine, imo, is one of the most underutilized coaster types. I'd like to see B&M or a park do more with the design then what's currently been demonstrated. It has the potential to be a real winner.
  4. Intimidator looks like a fine coaster. This one also looks like it will complement it as its a different experience. Not much airtime but lots of twists and turns well help differentiate The 2. i think its really just going to depend on the intensity of the ride to see how well recieved it is. Definately wont have any snap transitions like i305 though
  5. I do think Universal is taking away business from Disney but not in the way most of you think they are. From friends and family who have recently visited, they tend to stay at the WDW resort and spend their whole time there save for 1 day at USF/IOA. So WDW has to deal woth people spending 5 days instead of 6 at their park. A loss, sure, but not that big of a loss. It was smart for Uni to put Diagon Alley in the other park because now they capitolize on park hopping tickets. While there are a good amount of people who try to squeeze in a trip to Universal Resort, there's still plenty of Disney patrons who dont even have USF tracking on their radar.
  6. How does thunderbolt look so good but get such negative reviews? They really screwed that one up, didnt they? "Man that was like being in a car crash." From what I've seen (without riding any of them so take it for what it is) I like Helix, Medusa, and firechaser as well. But I also really like what they did for tre 7 Dwarves Mine ride. Im also a sucker for great themed attractions and experiences.
  7. Dont understand the enjoyment of these but to each their own. Wouldnt call this a haunt either. I can go to a kick boxing gym and let people rail on my face or eat a handful of worms if I really wanted to but then what would that prove. Not sure what this proves either.
  8. I don't know what you're talking about. There a big airtime moment right before you hit the brakes at the end. Exactly! It feels short lived in general. Between Xcelerators Top hat and Yolo's, I pick Xcelerator. I pick Xcelerator all day as a ride in general.
  9. Magic Mountain with Full Coaster Throttle Yolo and Twisted Colossus? We lost the Log Jammer for Yolo. IMO it wasn't a good trade. And I will say while SFGam's overall collection appears to be better then average. Even if Raging Bull doesn't quite live up to its full potential, but what potentially amazing ride isn't trimmed all to hell these days? In a park full of great rides, its hard to have a stand out. SFMM is another perfect example of that. People's favorites tend to vary between X2, Tatsu, Riddler's, and Goliath and notable additions. Now with Twisted Colossus, I'm not sure which attraction you can pick as "the star." But that's not a bad problem to have, imo.
  10. If there is one thing that recent history has taught us is that taking an old ride and making it new again has proved to be successful. Let's see what the reaction to Mantis is, and now that B&M is willing to add a launch component, how about taking some of those shorter stand-ups at CGA and Carowinds, adding floorless trains, and then extending the track length by adding a launch section with new elements? Aha! See! Now that adds some more fuel to the speculation fire, doesn't it? He knows something we dont!!!! lol I kid. I agree though. The addition of floorless trains absolutely changes the game. If it makes the rides more re-ridable and the rides become more popular as a result, I dont see any of those rides going any where in the near future. That brings us back to Led Zepplin being the first to get turned into scrap!
  11. Whoah, you guys wrote a lot. I'd say get a 2 day and just do 1 park each day. More expensive then a single day park hopper, sure. But you'll get the full experience. You can spend a full day at disneyland and not get on everything or just do the rides you care about. DCA you should be able to get some rerides in but its definately worth a full day. Plus you can buy beer.
  12. There's a meme in the making, I know there is! Can anyone confirm?
  13. I read on Screamscape that pinks hotdog is out. If this is true then good riddance. That place is terrible. It doesnt hold a candle to the dog food carts here in Portland. A gourmet sandwich shop sounds much better.
  14. Still dont know why Portland doesnt have a larger world class theme park option. Closest larger larks are Wild Waves in Tacoma and then 6 hours away there's Silverwood. I havent personally been to enchanted billage but I suppose I should adventure over there some day
  15. It's really unfortunate about the trimming on Raging Bull. I recon it would rank among the best if it wasn't for the trims. I imagine it has more to do with maintenance and keeping the ride from beating itself up to much more so than it has to do with trimming the intensity. Overall, great report! Skyrush is as beautiful as always and I'd hope to get on it one day.
  16. The Prince analogy is spot on! lmao I find it so odd that the wording in the PR makes it sound like a brand new ride instead of focusing on an improved experience rather than trying to trick the public into thinking it's something brand new all together. Whatever though. I'm just nit-picking and only us coaster nerds really care about the words in the press release. The local news will end up showing the highlights of everything and the GP will see it and have a GP reaction like, "Aww its so new! So cool!" and they go. Anyways, I hope this really works out well and makes the ride a much smoother experience. I could see other older and rough stand ups getting the new trains. Vortex at CGA anyone? I'm thinking that could be next! I will say my only real disappointment is they didn't name it after Lebron.
  17. Scream is just in an unenjoyable portion of the park. I just visualize concrete, run down uninteresting buildings, walls, and the hot hot Valencia heat. Just making the day oh so bland. Ehhh Rather stick to more fun areas of the park
  18. Batman and then Riddler later that evening in 1999. It was a victory for me because I remember going to SFMM around 95 or 96 and not being tall enough for Batman. Loved them both and I never looked back.
  19. still can't get over the fact we get to experience that first drop not once, but twice! So stoked. I may be able to forgive SFMM for the wasted potential on Yolo
  20. You can feel the spots with topper track because its noticeably smoother. Wish the whole thing had topper track! If they come inand add it for GR, Id also hope they do the whole thing instead of just the most troubled sections.
  21. I'm just curious... What do they have for the firewomen? Teehee Looks like a great addition. Personally, I'd rather see things like this built over big hulking generic gimmicky coasters. Those can always be added later and will be much better with the infrastructure already established
  22. for some reason, I foresee the operational logistic of the special ops maze blowing up in Knott's face. I'm sure demand will exceed its capacity. But here's to that knott happening, and I wish Knott's the best of luck! Looking forward to the reviews.
