You think an inversion on a wooden coaster is modern enough for the GP? -

very RMC style transitions and elements. The double barrel roll at the end was perfectly executed. Unique in that it was on the incline as well. -
What you guys are seeing on the preview is likely what you'll be getting. Keep in mind that it's basically a large interactive video game and the scene will be rendered in real-time. I think it will look a lot better though in HD and in person. It should be a lot of fun. It might even be better than Transformers

I used to hate how California Adventure in the back of Hollywood Tower of Terror was just a dead end despite being so close to Bugs Land. They since attached the two lands, and with the addition of Carsland, the park is very navigable. Some of DCA's rides were also designed with consideration to neighbors. Many of California Screaming's hills have "tunnels" to block noise from traveling outside and it also helps keep guests "in the show" by limiting their view outside of the park.

The layout is fine and pulls some decent g's. What the ride really lacks is a good drop and some snap into some of the transitions like in the cobra roll. I think if SB had a great bear style drop and that snap it would be ranked significantly better. But it complements the park well and it's a solid inverted coaster.

I dont really remember the Scooby Doo ride other then being in a boat. Im sure it was fine but relatively forgetful. This ride will hopefully leave more of a lasting impression. Hope they build more of these at other parks -

That's a very B&M layout! I'd like to see something more then just immelmans, though. Can we can a dive machine loop please? -
In general, it is a lot of actual work to document parks. When visiting new parks, it's a lot easier to go and have fun. Take some pictures while you can or once you've ridden everything. For the most part though, TPR has the largest collection of POV's available on their youtube page. It's simple enough to watch them there. I made a POV on Mantis at SWSD using a gopro chest harness as it was allowed. The results were better than hand held footage, but it still wasn't as enjoyable to watch as TPR's version. I ended up not doing anything with the footage because it was to much work to edit and render and there was little reward for the effort.

^ i am so confused by this outburst. I just spent the last 10 minutes re-reading through the thread and Im still confused as to where this is coming from. Getting back on topic, my theory is the constant mispelling of apocalypse's name is what's contributing to the bleaching of the ride. Every time it's mispelled, it will slowly fade white, and then eventually, it will just disappear.

Went to knotts today. The park was rather slow, surprisingly, but operations were efficient and running very well. Ghost Rider is running particularly well today especially on the gold train. Ive had some of the best rides on it in a long time. I hope that holds up! Mine ride is great! The new sound system, animatronics, and special effects really bring the ride to a new level and should hold up well for years to come. Knotts continues to surprise me and I think that will be the case once the new ride opens. There's still a lot of room for improvement but I think they're headed in the right direction.

Do kids still identify with Looney Tunes?
Gnome replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I dont remember the last time i saw any long running show featuring the looney tunes. When I was a kid, the exposure was everywhere. Re-runs ran constantly. They had new original LT content. They had a whole warner brothers store that competed with the Disney store. Disney in comparison has done a much better job at keeping their core brand icons front and centered over the years. Part of the reason why Disney is ruling hollywood currently I would imagine most kids probably dont really care about LT as there isnt much being pushed out. Time warners/WB's biggest assets right now are probably the DC super heros. Even still, outside of Batman and Superman they're really not pushed the same way as Marvel characters are. Again, Disney is winning that game. -
^ true but Im not sure what else you could do with that small sliver of space (besides nothing, of course or just leaving PE as is..) But if they built a mild airtime machine similar to timber terror in intensity, it would be something that would be good for families while satisfying the more veteran coaster enthusiests. A win-win in my opinion

Its odd, and I dont normally have these experiences, but the other night I had a dream they ripped out pony express and replaced it with a Gravity Group shuttle loop. I suppose thats one of those only in my dreams sort of things Haha I'd like to start the rumor now and maybe in 5 or 6 years it will happen.

Michigan's Adventure (MiA) Discussion Thread
Gnome replied to MagnumForce's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I don't know if I would consider the addition of POS and fiber optic upgrade in that list. When I see other small parks like Silverwood, Holiday World, or even small chains like Silver Dollar City and Dollywood thriving in markets that are smaller or about the same size, you just have to question what the reason is for such neglect towards MiA? My instinct is that CF uses most of its capital towards its biggest money makers like Knotts, Cedar Fair, KD, and KI, but MiA in particular has really been neglected when examining the chain as a whole, DESPITE what appears to me to be a healthy park. Maybe you guys have earned the right to complain a bit more.
