^ My Fluttershy, what's happened to you? Just got the DL/DCA 2012 guide from the local AAA office and got caught up on Season 2 of Friendship is Magic.

Great TR of a park not many of us get to see. The park itself looks pretty impressive too. Being indoors makes it better with all the cool lighting and ripoff rides. Awesome pictures + witty captions = excellent TR -

Would you rather - Soar above the Virginia countryside on one of the tallest swing rides in the world? or - Blast into a forbidden section of the Black Forest on the ultimate multi-sensory experience? New for 2012 -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Looking at a satellite map, there is nothing directly south of Hurler (it's all maintenance roads). They can build an alternate entrance east of the ride though. Still not sure why they can't build back there. Is it because of the maintenance roads or is there something else I'm not clear about? As for the old Hurricane Reef slides, I think it's time to either retire them and replace them with newer ones or just scrap the slides and re-expand the lake (probably not gonna happen, but it would be cool). Even a small expansion is fine. I was thinking a mat racer, aqua loop tower, and a LIM slide as the next expansion for the water park. -

^^ Wasn't Hypersonic/that diner built in that area? I don't see why the park can't add a back entrance to the waterpark if that area was already developed before. Or they could stick an alternate entrance around Ricochet's entrance. -
[RCT2] Busch Gardens Asia

Someone else had an RCT3 park that used Busch Gardens Asia as a theme. Click It also actually existed at one point. Houston's own Busch Gardens -

^^ SFOT the original park, not one of the flagship parks. ^ Actually all the SF parks got capital investments around 1998-2004. Buying out all those parks and giving huge coasters to all those parks in the late-90s/early 00s put the chain in the hole. Sure attendance went up around that time, but when you're investing millions of dollars into every one of your parks, attendance is gonna shoot up regardless. -
La Ronde Discussion Thread

^ Marineland has a trademark on Sky Screamer already. I kinda wished they stuck with something else like Asterioid or Fireball (those were suggested names that La Ronde listed in a poll to name the ride). But I guess the current name's alright. -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

^ I agree that SFStL needs a flagship steel coaster, but I don't understand why Bizarro is the next coaster to be moved, especially when the ride was just rehabbed/updated. -
Mass ride removal trends
netdvn replied to megametal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Larger, more intense Arrow coasters may have been on their way out, but I don't see many more leaving for a while (Anaconda seems like the most likely contender). I can see older water rides being phased out for newer ones (new boat chutes/splash battles). Log flumes are probably the most likely contender. Water rides in general are difficult to maintain. Outside of those, I don't see many other rides leaving. -

Click here for a list of all the early SF ride rotation rides. From the list it looks like... - SFGAdv's Parachute Tower - SFGAm's Condor - La Vibora - Looping Starship (is it operating at SFOT?) Are the only ones left operating from the RRP in the 80s-early 90s. As for Bizarro moving, I think Scream is a much better contender. From pictures and ride reviews, the ride is unpopular compared to MM's bigger B&M coasters and it's location is drab. It could definitely fit well in a park like SFStL or SFA. -
At this point, you're still pretty early in the game so there isn't much I can comment on. - Keep working on scenery. The park seems a bit bare. Flowers and trees go a long way. - Paths are a bit wide. It looks kinda weird visually. Knowing the way you build parks, it's not too big of a deal. I'd still say break up some of those extra wide paths with some decorations or something. Other than that, keep working on your park. Knowing your style, I see a lot of potential.

So I attended the job fair today and it was pretty crazy. Not too chaotic, but the lines were still extremely long to get into the park and sign up for positions. As I expected, a lot of people got turned away (including me). As I was walking out, there was still a huge group of people waiting to get in. On another note, V-bolt's got a crane sitting outside the area and it looks like something's going on around the show building, but I couldn't get a good look at it. I'll probably head back to the park next week to get a job interview in. Wish me luck!

Fun & Strange Facts about Parks.
netdvn replied to galindoverhere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some random stuff that I've heard over the years. - SFGAdv is one of the largest parks in the world in terms of area. Apparently the park was originally planned to be a major resort similar to WDW. - There was once a Busch Gardens in Houston that was Asian-themed next to one of the AB Breweries. It only operated for a few years in the 70s before all the rides were removed. The park reopened with just the animal exhibits for a short period of time until it closed for good. It would've been interesting to see how the park could survive through the 90s. - There was also a Sesame Place theme park that operated in Texas for a short period of time in the 80s before it shut down. A Wal-Mart stands where the park originally sat. - If you find a way into WDW's River Country, you can still hear music piping out of some of the rocks despite the park being closed for many years now. -
Maximum wait time by myself would probably be 45-60 min. If I'm with friends, I can wait much longer (90 min seems reasonable). I don't really enjoy waiting in lines so 5 hours seems like way too much time to be standing around, doing nothing. Perhaps for a life-changing ride, maybe but I won't wait that long for most.

GAME: What's worse than...

CF making a rule that all their parks have to have at least 50,000 trash cans. What's worse than playing games with Jigsaw? -
Isn't Disney a chain that's known for its charm? Personally I'd love to see the CF parks becoming mini-Disney parks focused on quality rides/attractions and more shows (all the better to nab a few extra trips to KD) while adding a major thrill ride every few years to keep things balanced. As mhuff has said, KD (and the other former Paramount properties) used to have plenty of family friendly rides/attractions before Paramount took over. By trying to convert all the parks into seasonal movie parks, Paramount stripped away the old themes and took away many classic rides in favor of movie tie-ins. When that didn't work out, the additions got smaller and smaller until Paramount scrapped the chain altogether.
