The Mysterious B&M Green Wingrider Track
netdvn replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Doesn't Europe already have their own B&M manufacturing plant? It was discussed plenty of times in the yellow track thread. If this were going to a European park, it would be manufactured in Europe. -
The Mysterious B&M Green Wingrider Track

I remember seeing something like this online. (first two photos found on RCDB) Which is where I got that original statement. Of course that was probably before people were caught snooping around and taking pictures. Then I remembered seeing tons of pieces like this. Which doesn't really reveal much about the ride. I recall Krake (or some other recent B&M coasters) having similar stickers. I figured they caught on with the more recent additions and made the abbreviations cryptic to throw everyone off. Not only that, but the SC abbreviation did throw everyone off. Then I found some Leviathan stickers which had the Mega Coaster abbreviation. (courtesy of TPR) So at this point, I'm not sure what to think. -
The Ride looks like a ton of fun. How much is the tour supposed to be? I'll definitely consider doing it next time I visit. It also seems pretty new. Last time I visited the city (last summer), that bus wasn't there. When I saw "The Ride" I thought you meant that attraction that was advertised on top of the Empire State Building. It was heavily advertised when I was last there with people holding signs and giving out brochures about it.

^ Track still looks pretty beefy like some of their Hyper tracks. And I remember seeing early shots of Leviathan's track and how it looked kinda small for a 300 footer. It could be a smaller Krake-sized Dive Machine for all we know. Not sure if WI is really supposed to mean something related to the coaster, so I wouldn't trust that too much yet. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
netdvn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm trying to plan a trip to KI in late July. This will be my first time at the park so I'll start with the usual "How are crowds on a late July weekend?" I'm trying to hit the park on a Sunday to avoid a potential madhouse on Saturday. I'm trying to hit the signature stuff (Firehawk, FOF, Racer, Beast, Diamondback, Delirium, Top Gun - no Drop Zone for me though) and then plan for rerides later in the day. Any other rides I should plan in a potential trip? Anyone wanna do a meetup? I'd love to get in touch with a few more TPR members. -
^ Why not? Moser is an established company. There's no reason the park shouldn't view other options when deciding a new ride/attraction. I'm sure the park didn't want the constant delays the ride had, but for a new prototype ride, it's pretty reliable. Plus KD has an Intamin drop tower anyway and an S&S tower wouldn't look as good as the Moser one does.

I second this statement. How do we know for sure this is a Wing Coaster and not a Mega/Giga or a Dive Machine? I'm not gonna jump to conclusions yet about where this is going. I have a feeling a US park is getting it though. There's a chance that someone in Asia has their eye on it, but it's way too early to tell at this point. -

I'd love to see some Busch/Sea World stuff, although as long as the update is full of old stuff, I don't have a problem. -
Alton Towers Discussion Thread

Leave it to Merlin marketing to blow their rides out of proportion. It looks like a fun little addition to the park though. Maybe if they spent more of their advertising budget on the ride itself, it would be less disappointing -
- American Thunder - too many loops. One or two would be nice as a prototype, but 4 or 5 is a bit excessive for a wood coaster. Work on banking the turns and don't abuse the lift hills. You don't need those on every hill. - Kid America - a bit short, make it a bit longer and bank those turns. - Bobcat - bank those turns and get rid of the excessive lift hills. - Mine Train - I really like this layout. Some of the turns need banking, but it's perfectly fine. Like RD said, you should add pictures. I really wanna see the rest of your park.

Screamin' Adventures [RCT2]

Park looks good so far. You seem to have building/station work down pat. Now I'd recommend practicing making your buildings a bit smaller and less blocky. Use different roof styles and create some diversity in your architecture. Warehouse-style stations aren't too common unless they're elaborately themed or part of an indoor ride. I'd recommend looking at images for real rides and using those as inspiration. Oh and you seem to have trouble with working multiple parks at once. I'd recommend just focusing on one and starting others once you're finished/close to finishing. Keep it up and you'll be getting better in no time. -
Actually, BGW acts pretty much the same way when it comes to rain. Once attendance drops below a certain level, the park automatically closes, regardless of who comes in. This is done with individual rides as well. Most of the time, the park has a form of compensation for rain (come back next day for free) and I know KD did something like this when they had to shut down for a weather condition (I think it was the earthquake). The park did offer a comp ticket for everyone who visited that day, which seems like the default response to an early closure. I agree with everyone that the park could've done more for event goers, but they could've just pushed everyone out without a free ticket. Does it benefit people just flying in? No (the park would've done more with a ticket that lets someone into any SF park instead of just MM, though or as someone mentioned, discounts on FP's/FP's for Drop of Doom). But in the end, a free ticket is better than nothing at all I guess.

Worked Pass Member preview today. A couple of other observations. - The park was packed. It felt like a busy summer weekend. Hopefully the crowd dies down later, but with the warm weather, I don't see it happening. - I absolutely love Verbolten's station. It looks amazing. - The new maps resemble BGT's maps from last year (bright and colorful on the back) I got a couple today for anyone who wants to trade. - Entwined was undergoing dress rehearsal. I didn't get to see it. - Best of all, BGW brought the bananas/rasta-bananas back for another run. Not only that, the park introduced new plush chili peppers I plan on winning a few during the summer. It was a good day to be had.

Battlestar Galactica Coaster
netdvn replied to RideofSteel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ One of the seats fell off from the Cyclon side during the testing phase. That's why it was down for so long. I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the reasons the launch speed had to be slowed either. -
As much as I love this park, it does bug me that it builds huge attractions only to remove them a few years later. While it would make a bit more sense if it was a smaller ride, moving a huge coaster like a strata after a few years of operation seems like a bad idea. Other than that, I really like this park. The woodie looks very promising. Let's hope it stays this time

The Brochure/Map Trade Topic
netdvn replied to Reality15's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'm gonna try to snag a few BGW 2012 brochures/maps later this week. I've sent out envelopes to four people this year. Still waiting to get something back from one person. I hope none of my stuff has gotten lost in the mail. I'm still trying to get responses from a few other people regarding offers as well. Here's all the stuff I have to offer for now. -
Volcano was one of the coasters that really got me into coasters. Not very long, but a really fun ride. Definitely planning on heading up to Doswell again to catch up on KD this summer.

Chadster's Vacation Adventures: Final Edition!

It's the thirty mile area around Hollywood that the paparazzi have free reign over (at least that's what recall it being). I remember a comedian talking about it on the radio once. -
Both Verbolten and Apocalypse should be open by Memorial Day barring any delays that happen. Windseeker looks like it should be up and running by then as well. I can't say much about the hotels, but there are some fairly new hotels along Bypass Road (close to the colonial area) and Capital Landing Road (within the same vicinity). The hotels closest to the park are a bit older (the Marriott next to the park is nice though). The Richmond Road (main drag) hotels are much closer to food options though. KD has two kiddie credits. Taxi Jam and Ghoster Coaster. Be careful with crowds. It does get kinda busy around that weekend since it's the kickoff to summer. Hit all must-rides early and if the crowds get too heavy, I'd invest in any available fastpass options. Be sure to take it easy and have fun. If you have time and are a history buff, I'd recommend checking out Colonial Williamsburg and the rest of the Historic Triangle. The National Mall is also a nice place to check out.

California Kingdom [RCT3]
netdvn replied to galindoverhere's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
So far you really need a lot of landscaping. Spread out your trees a bit and start adding things like flowers to the mix. Throw in some theming and you've got a solid park. I'd actually suggest breaking up your huge paths with planters and landscaping rather than having all the trees off to the side. Either that or you could add food/drink stalls and rides in the middle of those pathways. For the rides, add awnings and buildings around the queues. It doesn't have to be complicated. Just add them to make your scenery look a lot nicer. Good start so far, you really need to just work on your landscaping. -

He said "Hopefully I will come across it" as in, he hasn't found stuff yet. When he finds enough good stuff, I'm sure he'll post it. He did post a great MGA update a while back which included both Santa Clara and Gurnee parks a few years ago, but that's about it. Since info about those parks from the early years is hard to come by, it's a great read.
