  1. ...The Hippie movement happening all over again and many of us not existing. Off topic: Post 666
  2. The theming is looking really good. I must say, the "non-operational" paratrooper with the cars removed only adds to the whole "abandoned" and "haunted" type of atmosphere they were going for.
  3. But I may be, hopefully. I wonder if the whole Zacspin thing is going to catch on and other smaller parks may consider getting one. I can definately see it work in a smaller park. Although I'm not quite sure about the capacity as it is pretty slow in terms of loading I think.
  4. That is a very interesting coaster indeed. Looks like an alpine slide with a coaster track. Judging from that picture, no seat belts?
  5. Peter: Hey Cleveland, come here. Check out my on board-computer-navigation-system! Standard: Navigation-System: Left turn ahead. Peter: Spanish: Navigation-System: Va alla esquierda aya. Peter: Yakov Smirnoff: Navigation-System: In Soviet Russia, car drives you! Navigation-system: Turn right at fork in road. In Soviet Russia road forks you! Peter: Wah.. is this gettin' old.

  7. Yeah, when I read that I was right away thinking "epic fail".
  8. New record, 32 laps on the PNE/Playland Coaster. It was a fundraising ride/marathon for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
  9. I can't say I'm a fan of Vekoma but seeing their newer designs has made me change my opinion (although I have yet to ride one with the new trains). If anything, it's a step in the right direction for them and hopefully it does improve their reputation. About the Tilt Coaster, it may look really cool but I can imagine it being a mechanical nightmare (like Deja Vu). Perhaps that is why only one has ever been built? I don't think Six Flags would want to deal with anything like that again after all the problems they had with all the Deja Vu coasters.
  10. Ebay perhaps? http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=roller+coaster+poster&_sacat=0&_dmpt=Art_Posters&_odkw=roller+coaster+poster&_osacat=550&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
  11. I don't really think they're necessary on standard sit down loopers, but in the modern world of lawyers and insurance premiums, it's a way to keep them satisfied. Although on Intimidator 305, I think they're abit overkill as the ride doesn't even have any inversions. Although one thing I should mention, Dive Machine coasters. I don't think there is any alternative for OTSRs on those rides that I can think of. Because of the way the train is held 90 degrees, gravity would cause you to fold in half basically (meaning your head will be on your knees). Try this, stand against a wall and bend over 90 degrees. Do you fall over?
  12. I guess Vancouver could use another park than Playland/PNE. Or atleast put some coasters back into Stanley Park. Stanley Park used to have a wooden coaster years ago: http://rcdb.com/5739.htm
  13. Nice to see a TR of Silverwood. Those buildings are incredibly cute indeed. That's one thing I like about smaller parks that actually spend quite a bit of time on their decor. I've been wanting to go to Silverwood ever since I picked up a brochure for it from a hotel. Never knew how beautiful it actually was.
  14. Final Destination 3, Riding the Bullet, as well as the new Cats and Dogs 2 were filmed at Playland. I actually saw filming equipment being set up for Cats and Dogs 2 when I went there 2 years ago.
  15. http://www.beyondrobson.com/news_flash/2010/08/nightmare_scenario_playland_visitors_stuck_on_rides_due_to_power_outage/ Must have been scary for a lot of people getting stuck on the rides, although they got to get the evac credit. No injuries were reported (unless you count mental trauma!) and all guests were given refunds. The park re-opened today and everything seems to be running normally.
  16. It's probably a double capacity version of Moser's Gyro Loop from how it looks. http://www.moserrides.com/thrillrides/gyro-loop/gyro-loop.htm
  17. Nick Universe looks fun. Got any more pictures of the Flying Dutchman Gangplank and the backwards chairswing? I've never seen a backwards chairswing before either.
  18. Olympic sailing even though it only gets broadcasted every 4 years. Yes, that means watching boats go around a course. Sorta like Nascar on the water. From the list, it would be hockey for me although I also enjoyed watching the FIFA World Cup.
  19. I'm getting the idea that it's going to be a prototype of some sort. 4 launch zones hmmm... For some reason Maverick comes to mind. Wingrider/Rocket coaster hybrid, isn't that Furious Baco?
  20. So that's what the ride looks like with the lights on. My guess is that when it e-stops the lights come on?
