  11. Thriller is coming home! Skyline Park bought the legendary travelling coaster! http://www.augsburger-allgemeine.de/mindelheim/Skyline-Park-vor-groesster-Erweiterung-id27470217.html Quick translation: The ride is currently operating at a Mexican park. It will be be disassembled in the middle of 2014 and be shipped to Germany in 50 containers. It will then be fully renovated over the next year and the park hopes to have it operational by 2016.

SuperWirbel can be seen in the top left / north west corner.
  16. Yes, Dubai also has a lot of those scale models. Anyway, some more artwork... The name of this park will be "Lewa Happy World". (some sites have it written as "Lehua", and Google translates the Chinese to "Leroy", but the parent company uses "Lewa Investment" as their English name)

  18. The park is celebrating its 35th birthday today... and have now officially announced a Wing Coaster for 2014: • 40 m tall • 772 m long (2533 ft) (roughly the same as Raptor and Swarm) • 100 kph (62 mph) • 5 inversions • 6 near-misses • 3 minutes ride time Oh, and you'll have to be over 10 years old and 1.40 m tall to ride. (4 ft 7) More details on the website tomorrow: http://www.heide-park.de/wingcoaster2014 www.freizeitparkinfos.de © Heide Park
  19. Better boat pics today... The front: The back: 6 seats, all with a backrest and a lapbar: And a quick animation of how the lapbars work: source: Phantasialand-Fans.de
  20. A little bit of both. The current owners knew it was too rough, but the Spanish owners simply didn't have the budget. The park has an SBNO river rapids ride as well. :/ Six Flags however, who owned the park when the ride opened, replaced the original Intamin-trains after just one season to make it smoother. But they replaced them with trains by Premier Rides, the same ones that destroyed Son of Beast. So who knows, maybe in the long run they've made things worse. Anyway, as you can see, the first drop is finally getting its much needed retrack. The entire first drop, including the uphill section that follows, is being replaced. They're even replacing some of the wood in the support structure with steel beams. Oh... and the park also posted this on their blog: "Behind this door you'll find in 2014..."
  21. Ouch. People are tweeting that "a bolt flew out of the track" this morning and now the track isn't connected anymore.
  22. It's mainly done for cost reasons. Launching a train from 0 is incredibly hard and very expensive. Tires are an option, but if there's room for a little drop, why not let gravity do the work?

  24. A quick update: the park has been placed in administration. December 5, the current owners will have to outline the park's financial situation. January 23, the court will decide the park's future. http://lorraine.france3.fr/2012/11/21/walygator-le-parc-d-attraction-mosellan-en-grande-difficulte-147446.html
