  1. As others have stated, this park unfortunately has "Geauga Lake 2" written all over it. I wonder what would've happened if that proposed woodie would have been built as planned. We'll never know, but I wonder if Cedar Fair would have tried to expand the park even more if the woodie was well received? I'm not sure how CGA draws attendance-wise versus the closest competing park, SFDK.
  2. Man, I really need to get down there this summer and ride this bad boy! I've never been to KD, and I'm very curious to see how I-305 stacks up for me, especially against my current #1 steel (Millennium Force). I've been drooling over I-305 ever since those awesome pics and videos poured in last summer!! TWISTY!
  3. Voyage was my #1, followed by El Toro at #2. As many others have stated, the "conspiracy" theories being tossed around on other sites is frankly a huge load of crap. Here's a news flash to all of them - it's a FREAKING POLL!!!! In the grand scheme of life, who cares?!? Grow the f--- up and get some perspective!! Mitch's poll is still the best one out there, in my opinion. Look, I rode Voyage back in 2007, so that's what I have to base my ranking off of. Back then, I loved the crap out of it, and it got my #1 spot. I have not returned since, so it stays there. But I don't doubt for a second, especially considering the aggressive nature of the ride, that it got rougher. So the drop in the polls (as more people ride it with perspective to a visit back in 2006 or 2007) is not only justified, it's almost expected. While the other folks are so busy pi$$ing and moaning that it dropped 5 spots, do they still realize that it's ranked the 6th best wooden roller coaster in the WORLD?? That's a heck of an honor in my book! Shoot, my home park has 3 older woodies that I think are fantastic, and they rank rather respectably in the 50's....or so I thought!! Now it's clear that they should be in the top 20, but Robb just brain-washed everyone to rank them lower too! You.....evil......mastermind!
  4. ^ I was going to post a link to this if it wasn't already here. Thanks for posting this....you guys did an awesome job capturing tons of cool pics. It was great to get an in-depth look at my home park during the off-season! Definitely worth a look, guys and gals.
  5. Sky Rocket @ Kennywood to close out my 2010 riding season. Sadly this was back in October, and now that March is here and spring is around the corner, I'm really getting that itch to hop on a coaster again!
  6. Favorite Steel remains Millennium Force (though I'd love to ride I-305 to see how it compares for me....) For me, this ride is pure amazing fun that is NOT "forceless"! Favorite Wood is Voyage (with El Toro nipping at its heels at #2) Straight from my avatar to this thread
  7. Some of my favorite tunnels on a coaster..... The tunnel on Loch Ness Monster (just really liked this one) The triple-down tunnel on Voyage (airtime in the dark!) The opening tunnel on Phoenix (soooo pitch black!)
  8. Wow, what a really cool TR! Thanks for posting this! That looked like a lot of fun, and it would be really cool to try out some of that food.....my wife and I would certainly enjoy something like this if they had it here in PA. But sadly, they do not.
  9. I remember those packages! They were a really good deal! I had a stretch where I went to CP every year from 2002-2008 (sometimes twice), and every year through 2007 my family/friends and I stayed at Breakers because of the package deal. In 2008, we stayed at Breakers Express, and I thought the hotel was perfectly fine. We went in May, and the price for the room was less than 100 bucks, plus we got the parking and early entry. I thought there was plenty of value there, and the rooms were pretty nice. It's interesting reading the recent comments about early entry, because I've routinely utilized it and never run into large crowds, even in the middle of summer. I've almost always been able to get 2 rides on Millennium plus queue up for another ride before the park opens. We are likely heading back to the Point this year on opening weekend for my brother's bachelor party, so I'll be curious to see how things are then, since we'll likely stay at Breakers Express again.
  10. Yep, Great Bear was the first coaster that popped into my mind when I saw this thread! Some of those supports near the stream are pretty funky. Also, when Kennywood built Sky Rocket last year there was one support that had a funky look because it had to straddle the entrance tunnel since they obviously couldn't drill down through it.
  11. I certainly don't "prefer" SLC's by any means, but I also don't think they're terrible coasters either. Perhaps I've just had good luck so far and not ridden some of the truly evil ones! I am a fan of the layout of even the standard SLC's, but I do admit they're rougher around the edges than any B&M invert. I do love inverted coasters in general, and typically a B&M invert rates at least an 8 out of 10 for me. As for the SLC's, they have fallen into the 6-7 range, depending on how rough they ride. I've always wondered what that ride would be like if B&M built it with the same layout. Would it be smooth?
  12. ^^ *Raises hand* You bet I did! I find Katy's version of that song to be annoying as sin, but Lea's version was outstanding!! I have to say, when my wife first introduced me to the show, I was a bit skeptical. But I'm a total "Gleek" without a doubt! It's really cool having a show like that where we both really look forward to it every week! The voices the cast has are just fantastic. And I love that this year they are being way more balanced with who gets to sing the numbers. I like Rachel's character, but before it seemed like she sang everything! By the way, I thought Lea's "America the Beautiful" at the Super Bowl was awesome!
  13. This coaster looks like a great addition for the park, regardless of how high it is (or isn't). The layout looks pretty sweet! And Wes, your post was all sorts of WIN!!
  14. Count my wife and I in as 2 more who now really want to go on a Disney cruise!! That ship looks incredible! Great in-depth photos and report, especially for people like us who have never been on a cruise before. Thanks for sharing!
  15. Glad to see these 2 coasters back up and running after such a long bout of downtime/repairs. I know they're Vekomas, but the layouts do look pretty cool (especially Cylon).
  16. Wow, those are some stellar pictures you have there! Thanks for posting them! I have to say that my wife and I really enjoyed our first visit to Kings Island in 2009, and I'd really like to head back there sometime soon.
  17. Now that I've drooled all over my work desk, I will simply say this.... Oh. My. God! That thing looks INSANE!! I love how it appears to speed through the entire layout. And those turns and twists? Yummy. The setting don't hurt either, quite frankly.
  18. I have to admit, these newer launch coasters from S&S look pretty sweet! The drop on this one looks craaaazy good!! I've always thought that Powder Keg looks like a ton of fun, and this thing is looking like a super-sized version of it.
  19. I've definitely gotten more into musicals over the last several years. My wife loves 'em, and I'm really glad I've gotten to see many great shows with her. It's a nice night out on the town! Of the ones I've seen, my favorite hands down is Wicked. That show is amazing!! I love the music, and the story is wonderfully done. We saw Phantom of the Opera last year, and while it was also fantastic, I still give the slight edge overall to Wicked. We've seen it 3 times now, and probably will make it 4 this fall when it returns to Pittsburgh! Song-wise, my favorite is the Elphaba powerhouse "No Good Deed". Gives me chills each time.....especially when we saw it in Rochester when Donna Vivino played her.....simply brilliant!!
  20. THIS My wife got me tickets to his show for Christmas ('09), and I absolutely laughed my ass off!! Awesome stuff. Jeff and Peanut did this "taste of China" bit and I about died laughing!
  21. My wife is a huge 80's rock fan (as am I), so I'm surprising her for her birthday with tickets to the Bon Jovi show here next weekend (on the 12th). I'm pretty excited for that show!
  22. NICE!! I absolutely cannot wait for Sunday! This should be a heck of a battle between 2 great football teams. All due respect to the Packers, but I believe this year we get number 7!! Here we go Steelers, here we go!!! *Waves Terrible Towel* My pick - Steelers 31, Packers 21
  23. Hanno, thanks again for another one of your stellar reports! Your photos are some of the most amazing coaster/park photos I have ever seen. The way you capture the riders and their expressions is jaw-dropping. Wow....just, wow!! Looks like the Middle America Trip was loads of fun! Great mix of parks in there.
  24. So many amazing TPR 2012 Trips by the sound of things!!! As for Ferrari World, I think the place looks fantastic! Coasters and cool cars, what's not to like?
  25. I haven't had the chance to ride one of these Eurofighters yet, but they look like really solid rides! Hopefully they start popping up at even more US parks in the near future. As for SFOG, that place is rapidly rising on my list of parks I'd love to visit someday! It'll be cool to see progress of Dare Devil Dive once it goes vertical.
