Roller Coaster Reality Show
philthephorce replied to TheCoasterCritic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I thought a TPR trip *was* a reality show, no? If not then what's with all the cameras? And why'd I win crap for not waking my roommate? hehehe -

This trip report is AWESOME!!! I just can't wait (to be king!) to get back to WDW... -
I didn't think it was that bad considering we had been to Coney Island and Rye Playland already. Sure, two of the rides promised for ERT didn't work when we got there, but they did what they could and got them running before the park got too crowded. Honestly I think they were a bit embarrassed that it happened that way. To me, this was the only corporate park that we hit that didn't really feel like a corporate park. That's both a good thing and bad thing. Unfortunetly for them, they did become the source of a running joke between Vanja and I. Every time we came across a ride that wasn't working at whatever park we happened to be at we'd say something like, "It's broken...are we at Six Flags America!?"

Best and Worst Log Flumes
philthephorce replied to gldude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Dudley Do Right, IOA 2. Splash Mountain, WDW (better theming than Dudley, but the ride is slower paced and just less fun to me.) I don't think of any flumes I've been on as "bad" but I was let down by those at Lake Compounce and Knoebel's. They both are built on/ near large hillsides and don't really take advantage. -

I thought he was pretty entertaining. I appreciated him even more later in the trip after we've had ERT with robot-like ops. -

I'll probably get one. I'm utterly lacking in photos of the park, so a season pass would be a good way to just hang out for short periods on random days and snap away. -
The Official TPR "East Coast/Behemoth Trip" Update
philthephorce replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Besides The Axel Show before ERT on Boulderdash, I really don't remember anyone complaining about the ERT starting late. Speaking of Boulderdash, I thought we got our entire session, no? I remember it being shut down briefly while the park was still open, although very near closing time. This is when Axel went into his (most memorable) tirade. It didn't matter though, that ERT session was the standard which I compared the rest of the ERT sessions. ERT on Phoenix was interesting for me since I had taken a cold medicine and realized afterward that it wasn't a 'daytime' formula. Needless to say, I was there with everyone physically, but certainly not mentally! -

Neato people vs. ERT...hmmm that's a tough choice for me. Since my life is somewhat lacking in people I find interesting, and I met PLENTY during the trip, I think I'd give up some ERT for meeting people that I "gel" with. -

What was the Boulderdash comment? I can only imagine... Speaking of Boulderdash, when it broke down shortly before ERT I was in the station with Axel, who didn't really understand what was going on. Things got a bit ugly when the wonderful ride op (no really, no sarcasm, that guy kicked a$$) started playing Simon Says and Guess How Much Change Is In My Pocket with the other employees and the patrons...Axel starts yelling, asking why we're playing games and not riding and so on. Needless to say, security showed up not long after. I calmed him down though... -

I wasn't angry at him...not exactly anyways... I was simply following his instructions to "mind my own business." Thank You to the Thunder Bus (Studio 54 Bus, Party Bus, Retard Bus...etc.) for the mug full of Kisses! I forgot to pop in and thank y'all in person. Sorry 'bout that! -

I never understood the whole "pop/soda is wrong/right" thing myself. Isn't the whole name sodapop? -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
philthephorce replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, my emotions have cooled over the last couple days as well. After reading what people have been saying about the new owners, I don't think they'll make drastic, disagreeable changes to the park. KW is probably about as successful as it can be, given its landlocked state. And for the record, I'm not one of those Pittsburghers who's upset because the new ownership is not American. I'm only upset that KW Entertainment sold out at all. I can't imagine that they sold out because then needed the $$$, so it upsets me that they couldn't resolve whatever internal conflicts there were and selling was the only solution. But if this is the best option as far as the public's long term best interests are concerned, then I'm all for it. -

This news makes me want to vomit. I just hope that future trips to the park aren't filled with changes that triggers statements that begin with, "Things were better when..." I don't want to spend a day at KW only pointlessly yearning for the days of old. That would be a terrible day at the park. Although I haven't been too happy with the last couple ride additions, I don't think they need a B&M at all...they need NEW wood. Here's to hoping for a bright future for KW. Don't own one so no. Do you put powdered sugar on your French toast?

I don't know the name, but it's an early Fat Boys rap song. There's no drum machine, it's just the Human Beatbox doing his thing with the other two rapping. The only studio effect is an occasional reverb that kicks in about 2/3 of the way through the song. Sorry, I haven't heard this song since the mid/late 80's and I just had to tell someone.

I waited 4 hours for millenium force the year it opened. And I was riding with this girl I didn't know very well, and she was a big complainer. MF broke down several times during this wait in line, and I got yelled at every time it stopped. "No! No! I ain't ridin' this! You crazy!" "Uh uh! I don't think so! This thing is broke!" Four hours of that crap. Four HOURS. FOUR!

I agree with D.E. Seeing these pics makes me wish even more that I hadn't signed up for extra hours at my job, yet they make me want to go back very very soon...like, my next off day! Thanks for reintroducing me to the beauty of KW that I've come a bit ignorant to in recent years.
