Traveling? Don't Drink From That Hotel Glass
larrygator replied to ginzo's topic in Random, Random, Random
Thanks Joe, I thought that was my Embassy Suites. I've stayed there twice and am still alive, yet this disturbs me. The intoxicated condition lead me to drink a lot of water throughout the night. In the future I will just reuse my Souvenir Coke cup for late night water. And the porn wasn't Swedish in Atlanta. -

Mitch - A look at the votes by country helps explain this, also. 8 voters from the combined Sweden/Norway/Finland area. -

I'm going to have to go through of my mom's old pictures as I remember having my face painted at Circus World. My favorite part of the trip to Circus World was the Elephant Rides. -
The Top 25 Coasters of 2007
larrygator replied to texcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree that if a coaster gives a better ride under certain conditions and from a certain seat then I'll only try to ride in a scenario that provides optimal fun. But when a coaster is far inferior under certain conditions I can not put it ahead of a coaster that has always provided me with a great ride. Take Boulder Dash, some of my favorites individual rides ever were on this coaster but some of my other rides on BD were meh. So I have ranked all the coasters that have always provided me a great ride ahead of it. -
The Top 25 Coasters of 2007
larrygator replied to texcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If a coaster is only great under certain conditions does it deserve to be rated so highly? I say no! I don't care what the conditions are: a certain seat or car, time of day, temparature, season, ERT at enthusiast events, while sitting next to Elissa and getting her credits also. If a coaster can't be consistent it can't be a Top 5 coaster on my list -

I call Bullsh!t. The poll is not to determine which wood coaster feels the most like an old fashioned coaster. The poll is to determine the best wood coaster. Wood coasters are defined by the tracks they roll on. Does this same person who complains it is too smooth, vote B&Ms at the bottom of the Steel Poll because B&Ms are too smooth? To those who say El Toro or Balder and not wood coasters, just refrain from voting for them at all next year, since you are a hypocrite to ET is the 107th best wood coaster when you don't even think it is a wood coaster. There was an ACE event at SFGAdv this year. I happened to be at the park the same day. I ran straight to El Toro when the park opened as the ACErs were on Nitro. About 60 minutes after the park opened some of the ACErs made it to ET, many were raving about the air on Nitro. A few of these ACErs either could not fit into El Toro and asked to be unlocked after they felt uncomfortable in the "tight" restraints. Then they proceeded to bitch about the lack of oversized seats endlessly. Could these fatties be sandbagging El Toro? -

SFGAdv is pretty weak on flats also. -

Only 4 people from Sweden voted, 2 from nearby Norway and 2 from Finland. This shows the true power and lure of Balder as there clearly is no home country bias helping Balder. I believe there were subliminal messages in the Troy station music and Toverland theme song that made many rate Troy a little higher than deserved. I was not fooled by these subliminal messages since they were recorded in Dutch and German, languages I do not speak. -
Clementon Jack Rabbit GONE
larrygator replied to PCman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I never rode JackRabbit so I can't make a personal comment on ride experience. However, I never heard anyone rave about it. To me it looked like the Comet at Waldameer, which was completely non-thrilling. The bigger shame is to hear that Tsunami ran so poorly after it's first year. I enjoyed riding it non-stop for two hours when it opened. Hopefully, the new owners make restoring Tsunami's power a top priority. -
Mitch's Coaster Poll
larrygator replied to ScubaSteve442's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I see where Robb is coming from. While I really like Boulder Dash after 5PM, it is a better than average ride early in the day. It is a 7 out of 10 mid-day, but becomes a 10 out of 10 after it heats up. Such inconsistency should affect it's ranking. -
I don't know how he made it that far.

Yes, you should get confirmation, but dead people are not allowed to vote. -

OK - I bought two of these new DVDs for some 11 year olds that love coasters (my niece and my best friend's daughter). I think this will be a great Christmas gift for these girls. I think this type of footage will be great for kids whose parents might not want their children subjected to the PG13 langauge of TPR humor.

As much as I hate to see old stadiums go. The Orange Bowl was a dump in an even dumpier neighborhood. I have 4 good memories of the Orange Bowl: 2 Dolphins victories (yes, I was a DolFan) Gators beating Syracuse in the Orange Bowl A Genesis concert and one bad memory: a 31-4 beatdown that UM put on the Gators in 1986. Yes 4 points, the Hurricane long snapper lofted two snaps over the punter's head and out of the end zone. -
4 words for you - Alaskan King Crab Boat Seriously, I never could have done these trips in college. I was too fanatical about not digging a deep hole for myself financially.
