The Official "TPR Japan Trip 2007" Thread

Get real Barry. Your mom didn't even want to undress you as a kid. That's why you took baths with your clothes on. I feel I have a right to say this since I sent Barry a spiffy t-shirt. -

Looking back at this post: First off - thanks for mocking me "Hot Fuzz" Besides maturity - good hygiene also helps one fit in. Maturity and Hygiene are good things. -

Only the Superman ones got me. Tatsu did nothing like those to me! Craig Agreed, is not quite as intense on Tatsu, but it still made my stomach say "WTF". Yes, my tummy talks! -

Best rapids ride?

My favorite for wetness is at IOA? However, the best all around theming/wackiness/random wetness goes to Parque Warner Madrid. River Quest at Phantasialand was unique and fast but the style of boats prevented any level of wetness. The first raft ride I ever went on at SFGAdv was a lot of fun in it's initial years when it was not unusual for a raft to get stuck under the watefalls. Waterfalls that now have guard rails preventing rafts from getting to close. -
Insane crowds will make it absolute mayhem, if previous October are any indicator.

Wood Dragon - there were at least a half dozen university age people on the Spain Trip that fit in fine with the 30-40 year olds. Maturity level is more of an indicator if you will fit in than age. -

The vast majority of the questions people ask in the chat are either already included in the flyers or information that R&E are not able to release yet. If you can't make chat and have a valid question you have two options: 1 - Send ParkTrips your question so he can queue it up for you 2 - Read the transcript after it is posted, if your question is not addressed either PM it to Robb or Elissa or post it in a thread. R&E will let everyone know the preferred method. As far as purposefully excluding Europeans from the chat, while including Aussies. That is delusional thinking. This is clearly a matter of R&E holding the chat when it is most convenient for them and not an exclusionary practice. -
With that being the start of Fright Fest, I expect it to have very big crowds every day. Monday is probably your best option. I did not realize the park would be open on Columbus Day.

I can see why people are upset that a farewell season wasn't announced. Like when the Pavillion closed in Myrtle Beach, it allowed people the opportunity to experience it for one last time (or the first time for non-locals like me). However, business is not always that cut and dry. And while we love amusement parks, everybody has to remember they are a business. I have to say it was pretty clear that GL would not be around forever. The handwriting was on the wall, with the demise of X-Flight and Steel Venom. -

Ohio doesn't have 2 great parks. Well I guess King's Island was good 15 years ago. -

It is foolish to think that Kennywood have bought Geauga Lake if CF didn't. I strongly doubt the powers that be at Kennywood would have taken on that much debt. For the record - I don't think anyone could have turned around GL, at the debt burden that would existed. -

WHAT??????? What is your basis to speculate in this manner. Kennywood hasn't exactly been an acquisition based company. Except small parks that wouldn't canibalize KW If Geauga had not been purchased by CF, it would already be a new housing development and/or strip mall. -

Kinzel runs Cedar Fair, not Cedar Point. It did behoove him to overpay buy a park and then fold it. The only way this helps CF as a whole is if people from Cleveland now vacation in Snadusky and stay at CP resorts/properties. A day tripper to CP from Cleveland is no more valuable than a day tripper to GL. Yes, it might cost more for admission to CP but their overhead is also much higher. Increased attendance at GL this doesn't mean anything if it is on season passes and reduced prices. Revenue is much more important than attendance. Maybe the news will be bad for Aurora businesses that the park helps (hotels, gas stations, nearby food places) but the Aurora enthusiasts should not be upset because they haven't been coming to the park since CF bought it. Score one for the old SF regime for selling an unprofitable park for way too much. Maybe the only bright thing they ever did.
