  1. I'll be drinking a lot on Tuesday and Wednesday night. My mom cancelled Thanksgiving this year so I'll hang with my best friend and family on Turkey Day. I'll bring a Carvel Tom the Turkey cake. I haven't had a Carvel in about 15 years, and my best friend had to work at Carvel in High School, so it will be funny. Friday after Thanksgiving - back a destroying my liver at a wedding.
  2. regarding the big dump brewing - I hope everything comes out OK.
  3. What's an avatar?
  4. Jay - send an e-mail to Investor Relations, if Stacey Frole is still there she is usually very helpful. They should be a link from the Cedar Fair corporate web page.
  5. The only park I can think of off the top of my head, that you have not already been, that fits to criteria in Busch Gardens in Tampa (or whatever they are calling it today. The weather is nice, good coasters, hotels are in the area (but you would be better off staying near the airport versus the park) and you should be able to find some type of night time activity At least I think it is a only short cab ride from the airport. SFoG might also fit the bill, but is not close to the airport. As Elissa said, weather can not be guaranteed outside of the Southern parts of the US.
  6. Not as old as you. Beat that down horse, will you
  7. Robb - I got to be honest. Everyone says you hold your weight well but I think they are just kissing butt. I thought you were fat when I hung out with you in Spain, Kennywood and Florida. TPR Biggest Loser would be a good idea, but we all know Big Mike would easily win. Not because he has a lot to lose or anything, but just because he is a born winner.
  8. I wonder if Six Flags stock price would drop as fast on the moon.
  9. Don't cheat and count the 5 lbs you lose when your shave you back. Seriously, I have confidence in you Robb, as you understand going to the gym involves sweating. Versus those who walk on a level treadmill at 2MPH for 30 minutes, burn 100 calories and can't understand why they are not dropping weight as the suck down a Coke afterwards.
  10. DIS and GE aren't that great as stocks either. Disney is still lower than it was in 2000, GE hasn't moved much in the past 4 years. Matt - you know what I say. DOUBLE DOWN. Unfortunately I did it yesterday instead of today.
  11. Then I would expect that person to have Favorite Steel Coaster ranked behind every wood coaster.
  12. Exactly! I would have a problem with someone who says airtime is their favorite attribute and then puts "do nothing coasters" ahead of an El Toro, Balder or the like. However, Olsor does make a good point about coasters not ridden in years. The Beast had been in my Top 10 for years based on rides from over a decade ago, now that I have ridden it again it has moved down the list. Even Voyage, yes I have heard of it's "demise" from last year, but I did not ride it this year and can not take someone else's opinion. I still have it ahead of El Toro.
  13. ^yes that is what I think of Canobie also
  14. jynx - excellent advice, most of my money is tied up in Mutual Funds, but I also like exploring individual companies with a small percentage of my remaining cash. But the market is getting hammered of late. Of course, I'm not going to just jump on a company because someone on TPR says it is the way the go. Nor would I even suggest investing in a particular company, just want to see what other do or are thinking. spaceace - of course any stock you are personally interested in like Six Flags sounds tempting when it is less than $3 per share. I actually made money on it two years ago because I owned it when Snyder got involved. But remember Six Flags has a debt right now and that debt is not disappearing and that makes it tough for a company to make money. Yes, Six Flags has a tendency to do below $4 and rise back to $6 but past performance is no guarantee of the future. Yes, Six Flags "sounds" good at less than $3, but it also looked good to me when I bought it a month ago when it dipped below $4.
  15. ^Cool - I'll see if JimmyBo will lend Russell his yellow hat.
  16. I think you should replace Ryan and put Dave Thomas in the Alvey house. Move Ryan to a new house with Big Mike, Homer and FlipDude.
  17. Now I know what to talk to your dad about next time I see him. Puts and calls are something I would certainly like to learn more about and take a stab at in the future, but it does take a little more time.
  18. ^^I hear you, there a compnay called Ausra that is a private company right now, that I wish was public so could invest in. They are planning to blanket acres of the California desert with solar panels and have developed a way to store the energy and very few people have been able to find fault in their business model. I recently sold shares in a Canadian company Petro Canada that I learned of through 60 Minutes. One part of their business is extracting oil from oil sands in Northern Canada. Analysts said they would never be able to make money because it costs over $50 to create a barrel of oil. The analysts said this when oil was $30 a barrel, but now it is close to $100. I probably should have held on this one stock. Supposedly there is as much oil in the sands as there is under the sands of Saudi Arabia.
  19. Anyone care to share stories, thoughts about the future, or trends they see coming? My thoughts - Although I try to invest in companies I know a little something about, however, the regional park operators in the US have not done so well in the past couple of years. Although I really do think Six Flags will turn it around from an investment standpoint in another two years. Other industries I see as growing in the future are Security companies, Alternative Energy, and companies that can help reduce the effects of a growing industrialized world (i.e.: companies that can reclaim water for drinking). Those are all needs that will have to be addressed moving forward with huge growth potential both domestically and outside the US. Anyone care to give their thoughts?
  20. for the sake of the participants, I hope not I don't think they are heading that far to the Northeast.
  21. I agree with Kyle, this PTR alleviates my fear of food in Japan. thanks Bob
  22. I keep a count but don't really talk about it much unless someone asks. I also keep an Excel spreadsheet that is easily sortable, so I can tell the number of coaster by manufacturer and style fairly quickly. I'm more concerned about my wood coaster count and will gladly travel for a new wooden coaster, since every woodie is unique. However, I could never see myself paying $25 to ride the woodie at Satan's in ChiTown.
  23. I hear you on this one since I made a stupid mistake this year myself. I'll double check in the future or use the Coaster Fanatic shortcuts.
  24. ^^If that is true, it really shows the sorry state of US citizens not knowing their own country's history
