  1. Very nice! I hadn't seen a lot of those Schwarzkopf catalogues (like the Helios ride - that was new to me.) Thanks for sharing.
  2. That's one of the more casually written articles I've come across! It's really very annoying for CGA. Normally I would say it's good to have some public debate about planning permission, etc, yet oddly when it comes to theme parks - well, I would side with Cedar Fair.
  3. Please God may it be an AquaTrax! I would even take a trip across the pond for it.
  4. VERY nice pics! I need to get back to the US ASAP!!
  5. Ah it's good a TR of Sea World - don't recall seeing too many on here. Nice photos!
  6. www.rideaccidents.com has got some fairly chilling footage of the aftermath of the Rainbow accident. Liseberg is a GREAT park - but have had a *few* incidents in recent years. I hope their reputation won't be too tarnished by this latest one and that we won't see any more.
  7. Personally I like all types of rides, these ones seem fairly high quality, and I don't think they'll seem out of place at a big theme park at all. And they help cut lines, so the more flats the better I say.
  8. Big Mike - thanks for all the photos and updates. I've been reading and enjoying them all and just thought it was time to finally say cheers from downunder!
  9. I think Alton Towers has outgrown Corkscrew at last. Sure it's a classic old ride, but I don't reserve too much sympathy for 'off the shelf' coasters, and you can still ride the same 'Corkscrew with Bayerncurve' design at at least six other parks (of course they haven't closed it *just* yet!).
  10. AND to also purchase new attractions for their other parks at a GREAT price. How many other Cedar Fair parks have now benefited from the attractions removed at Geauga Lake? Quite a few it would seem. Kings Island, Michigan's Adventure, Dorney Park, Kings Dominion, Great America, etc, etc.... I'm convinced this was the plan from day one when they bought the park. I'm guessing the only reason why they didn't shut it down immediately was they probably had a lot of contracts to fulfil and it was probably cheaper to operate it as a park for a few seasons than it would have been to break any commitments they had going. --Robb Yep, that is a very logical argument. And when you have multi-million dollar coasters like Dominator and Steel Venom on your hands, it even makes sense. (Not that I would try to justify their actions...)
  11. I believe Double Loop was the first coaster with consecutive back-to-back loops (just ahead of Schwarzkopf's Shockwave), which makes it's closing just a little bit sadder to me - a little piece of coaster history gone.
  12. The sound is normal for LIM launches or brakes. But then of course coasters can often be noisy things... If it's not LIMs it's an Intamin 'fart', Intamin 'rattle' or a B&M 'roar'. But for me nothing compares to a Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop launch! Music to my ears!
  13. Cool report! Looks like a very similiar experience to my trip to SFOG, right down to the 2 hour thunderstorm, but they closed EVERYTHING during the thunderstorm, even the Carousal, and we only had one cashier on the Flashpass register! (Can anyone explain the reason parks close all rides during thunderstorms as I just don't get it... I can understand closing coasters and outdoor rides, but carousals too?)
  14. Very nice report. (But why skip Sooperdooperlooper? Many of us here are Schwarzkopf fanatics you know!)
  15. It's just a crazy rumor. I don't thik we'll ever see anything like that in Italy. Which is a shame. Why oh why won't anyone else build an AquaTrax coaster! (Hmm, maybe in Dubai?)
  16. New Zealand - which since we only have one theme park makes my home park Rainbow's End! The 'big' coaster there is an Arrow Loop & Corkscrew, but there's also a pretty cool mine train coaster, Intamin drop tower, pirate ship, very nice log flume, and some other stuff to do.
  17. I'm a bit of a 'theme park virgin'... I rode Georgia Cyclone in the back row in May this year as my first ride of the day at Six Flags Over Georgia and absolutely loved it! The train was full of people, and the ride was packed full of air time; a little rough here and there but nothing at all bad. Then I re-rode just before closing. It had been raining, and the train was almost empty. Again I sat in the back - and this time had the CRAP beaten out of me! I also got off with a bleeding ankle from hitting the bottom of the lap bar. I heard woodies were moody but bloody hell!
  18. My favourite stand-up too. And I LOVE your Man Who Fell to Earth avatar!
  19. 'Vertigorama' - Built in 1983 and still not open. Looks like a Togo Jet Coaster, but it's Intamin! http://www.rcdb.com/id1506.htm
  20. Wow, very interesting report, especially those PAX coasters. Would love to see a POV - but it looks like it might have been slightly dangerous to make one! Thanks for sharing!
  21. For some reason I'm saddest about Double Loop's scrap yard fate. I believe it was the first coaster to have consecutive loops (before Schwarzkopf's Shockwave). Not an amazing coaster by any standards really, but still a classic Arrow...
  22. Any roller coaster that plays Gary Numan's 'Cars' gets a 10 out of 10 from me!
  23. Great TR! I was there a few weeks back - and LOVED IT! Nice to see some close-up face pics on the coasters. I think there's a new trend there...
  24. Agreed! And now that I've finally been on my first looping Schwarzkopf (Mind Bender at SFoG), I can see why OTSRs are totally unnecessary. I say take 'em off all coasters!
  25. Very cool look forward to seeing more updates from Thailand!
