  1. ^ Yeah, I think that's what was great about entering the tourneys with them. You could practise and practise, knowing eveyrbody else was on the same 'level' as far as what the course used, would be like. Everybody had the same one, lol! But that was okay, 'cause some of the Putt Putt holes were even tougher, I remember, than some of the themed mini-courses' holes. Some of them still around huh? My, my. Memories......
  2. ~ ~ ~ Go Canucks! Oh - yeah, right.......
  3. I remember when Putt Putt used to be a franchise of mini-courses thru-out North America. And we had one just south of where our house was. So I used to go to that every other weekend, getting my 'skills' down, as these courses didn't have a lot of themeing - but they had great obstacles in their setups. I remember there was even an all-encompassing Major Putt Putt Tourney every year, with I guess those who were "the best in their areas" to duke it out on a major PP course for money and (brief) fame.... Playland here has one which they include with the daypass price, but it's sooooooooooooo pared down in themeing from what it looked like years ago - and only one set of holes now, as opposed to two different courses they used to have... For now, I have put off trying it out. Crowds of families WITH their *#@*% ff-ing strollers, slooowly truuudging thruuuu the couuurse.... Naw. I can wait.
  4. ^ "The word is," Paris' ToT is supposed to be a copy of the DCA version. You'd think they'd be original in each of the four designs. Could still happen, since nothing I've seen has actually been posted as concept art for this one specifically, other than everybody saying "it's to be like DCA's..." But hey - guess this is the trade-off for giving WDW the Stunt Action Show huh? And TDS the Indy Jones coaster, heh heh.
  5. That felt yummy to see everywhere, I bet. Yuck. Well, you certainly used your weekend well, even with some major rides down at one park, etc. Thanks for the TR - now I know what we're missing (some of) on the June UK Tour, lolol.
  6. ~ ~ ~ Santa - "Off Season"... ~ ~ ~
  7. ^ How often does the WDW ToT tend to "break down"? This way, I mean? I actually forgot that this could happen. Or would happen often. For myself, it's just been a matter of space, since they had soooooo much available at WDW, it was easy to make the original ToT as big and forboding as they could get away with, under the 200 ft.height limit, heh heh. And the building which houses the Twilight Zone 'stuff' and horizontal tracking was easy to put behind the main drop shaft(s). Then they 'built up' the landscaping and themeing in front of it, from what I've made out of pix and vids. If they did it that way (buildings positions) with DCA or TDS (or Paris too, I guess) they couldn't landscape and/or theme it the same as they have at WDW, etc. Yes? No? IMhO
  8. ~ ~ ~ Does anybody remember a rumor that was circulating, about Disney looking into creating a theme park based on MYST? Which would of course, probably be on the WDW site. I remember it coming up in an old Disney Magazine article, an interview with one of the Imagineers. And this would be a pricy park in itself, since it would be on an island with the appropos 'stuff' that Myst has/had for peeps to explore, etc. Yes? No? Comments on...? ~ ~ ~
  9. (currently) Jerry Garcia's brother (if he had one...) ~ ~ ~ (EDIT: Um..... did he have a brother? I have no idea!)

  12. I have always had past early probs with stand-up coasters, not being very exciting "at the time"... until I went on PGA's VORTEX And loved how it quickly swooped in and around itself, which for one of my first stand-ups was at first ride ... and is still one of my first truly Guilty Coaster Pleasures and Treasures. Photo thanks to RCDB and Joel and everybody in the top lefthand corner there! (o:
  13. ~ ~ ~ ~ Hmmm. Since there seems to be a 'theme' here now.... I might as well make it a third one. ~ ~ ~ ~ Left hand on the head...right? (EDIT: Don't know my right from my left...doo dah.)
  14. ^ That was a great Trip Report, and I'll look forward to your future visits there, now that you have your Season Pass for Parc Asterix. Thanks for sharing your first visit this year.
  15. For myself, it was just before I turned sixteen. And that was actually, coming out to myself. Acceptance of self is a very important thing, as well as all the rest of what will come or happen. When you feel good and 'right' about who you are within your own gut, you're on a pretty good start, I'd say.

  17. ~ ~ ~ "Robb and his gang are so irrepressibly charismatic,"... Hmmm. You guys sound kinky.
  18. ~ ~ ~ ~ Any carnival I've seen TRs on here seem to have loads more interesting flats and stuff... than my 'home park' cough*cough. Ah, but that's in the Rant Thread, lol. Thanks for sharing your trip to your carnival, and looking forward to more pix and vids. And ZIPPERS RULE! (Wait, did that 'read' right??? )
  19. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Actually, it just ocurred to me (as it sometimes do...), that Robb (or somebody else, perhaps?) should figure out some kind of set(s) of coaster cars with screaming peeps in them (a few with Hands Up! too), rolling up and down and over the site pages... That would a cool little surprise, coming in from one side or the other, climbing an imaginary hill, then over and down, down down..... and/or curving around and round, dippin' and divin'....

  23. I went to Playland yesterday, to get my "season playpass" (yeah, whatever) and to take in what they've got set up for this year.... UGH. I swear to the Theme Park Gods this has got to be one of the most poorly put-together amusement centers ever..... put together. And this is what we have, no are stuck with year after year after... I was planning to take my camera for Opening Day pix, but honestly? It's too embarrassing-looking to even think of snapping a pic or more. One big rectangular piece of ashphalt, with mainly flats (ooollllld flats) that make the whole setup look like it's an ongoing Travelling Carnival that is always on the verge of pulling up stakes and heading on to another town..... Did the Coaster 3 times, the Corkscrew (Final Dest:3's coaster?)once, once each on the two new flats (Breakdance and Gladiator/ by the way, WTF do swampboat-like vehicles have to do with Rome???) for this season, and the Beach Party ride. 7 ridings in all. Which was enough for the time spent there. And one vehicle ONLY, running on the Wild Mouse, so of course The Lineup formed immediately. I skipped that. And the ugly uuuuuughly flume ride. Am going back Monday, once the rains have quit up for this Easter Weekend. Maybe take a few pix just to show you all how frustratingly ARRRRRRRRGH this "Western Canada's Largest Amusement Center" is. I am now very sorry I missed the actual Travelling Rides Carnival that hit town back in mid-March. Plenty more newer, clean flats and probably some really great ones too, if I'd gone.
