^ Pardon my error. I should have posted "How many stages" do we actually have to go through? The easy answer is, "as many as it takes," sure. Still, with so many different versions of "a plan" up here in Canada, it makes one wonder which might work the best? The plan with more stages? Or less? Just trying to figure it all out.

Every time the news comes on, one of our (10) Provinces' leaders announce a #-stage plan to get everybody back into the economy resurgence. Ontario's is a five stage plan. Alberta's is a four stage plan. British Columbia's? The Province where I live? Theirs is a three stage plan! WTF? How many "plans" does one need to get back on track after this crisis?

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Right off the top, and through several descriptions of this past PNE attraction, everything points to the PNE Spiro-Tower being designed and built by Mercedes Benz, in Europe. A car company! Who knew? It opened in 1968, the same U.S. Election year, that Richard Nixon picked his Vice Presidential running mate... ....Spiro Agnew. Pronounced "Speero". And after that, American visitors were known to call the attraction the "Speero Tower" not 'Spy-Row' as it should be pronounced. Stuff happens. And it was 330 feet tall. The tower stayed put until 1979. I think the main problem with having it, was the upkeep of it, during at least six months of off-season, both for Playland and the PNE Itself. Of course, nowadays, all parks are having this non-operating problem. And they're having ride operators here and there, running the rides just to keep them in running order. But for the Spiro-Tower (and the SkyGlider, too) this wasn't being done. And that was that. Down came the tower. And eventually the SkyGlider followed, with it's dismantling in the early 1980s. The first posted image is a page taken from a book published for the 100th Anniversary of The PNE, in 2010. ("100 Years of Fun") A page is mentioned about both attractions, as well as the funny story about "the wig that blew away." (All photos are from the net. And a book.) The Mercedes Benz logo on top, for everyone to see from afar. -

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Nrthwnd replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If Playland had opened this past weekend, it would have been 8 months and a few days since I was last there, riding Coaster. But I did have the Disney Resort and Knott's last September, for a few coaster rides. Go Matterhorn!!! -
Groceries today. Almost $300.00 worth.

I miss Tornado. And Thunderbird coaster. And pretty much, most of Grona Lund. Great stuff you picked to show, Chuck. It all works nicely together. And that SCAD Tower. Wow, to think I did that thing twice, in two separate tours! -
^ Aw shucks, thanks. By the way, the latest fundraising online 'concerts' just shows how much Broadway and New York Theatre in general (state wide and nearby states, too), treasures what it's got, in all these amazing imaginative performers! Blows me away, every time I am finding out about a new "show" happening, soon. And SOON, too! That's great, as they're more spontaneous to be created and performed, rather than months of setups and checking, etc.etc. I love it all! I hope this generates something more evolved, after most of the medical harm has passed, and it's more controlled. Also, hope for that control, too.

^ Fine. Might as well have a few test cases, of how it all works out, good or not so good..... right? Not trying to be flippant about it, but somebody's got to start the ball rolling, for openings, yes? No? Playland(PNE) is still "scheduled" to open on July 1, but it wouldn't surprise me, if that gets pushed back, again. Taken January 11, 2020. Before the park's operations shutdown.

There is honestly lots and lots of things to see and do in Amsterdam, all within walking distance. We stay mainly in a small hotel opposite Oude Kerk church...and The District edge. It's makes for interesting evenings and weekend afternoons. We once heard, from our room opposite, the bells player (?) of the church do a Saturday afternoon "West Side Story" medley! It was awesome. So many things you saw! A good thorough tour, I felt. Thanks for sharing it all. But did you eat anything else besides those....stroopwafels?

Something that made me go...huh. From RCDB.com I did not know that that was what, that ill-shaped helix ending of Corkscrew, was....a Bayerncurve. June, 2019. SBNO, before the eventual tear down, late fall. RIP. Bayerncurve behind the corkscrew.
