  1. Good Golly, Miss Molly! )o:
  2. * ...Together! In searching for the various sets of ads that Playland has used through the years, I have four here that (so far) have no other ads from the same series. I'll keep looking, but for now, here they are. And three ads that do go together. These three are from last year. I remember seeing one of them in a bus stop, but I honestly thought it was for some Exercise Programs, lol. Wrong on that. And these are supposed to be a throwback to those 1980s workout videos (think VHS, if you remember such things). Enjoy these. (2013) I love this one. Wish I could find the other related ads. RIP Corkscrew. (2019)
  3. ^ ALL cheese is good, my friend. Well, most cheeses, I guess. David's got this new (to us) cheese, Queso Fresco, which is a "soft unripened cheese." It's for a taco recipe. We're doing fine up here. We are mostly hermits anyway, so this is no big stretch... except for food shopping, etc. Every time I/we go out, I keep thinking that this is "a very bad human chess/checkers game", with all the "moves" one has to make, to get around everybody else, heh heh. "Made In Canada" woo hoo!
  4. ^ Luckily, some things are meant to last and last and last and...
  5. "Games Without Frontiers" Peter Gabriel
  6. "Falling down the stairs of your smile." The New Pornographers. Love it.
  7. ^ No, that is a very, very good thing.....eventually.
  8. ^ Noted about the Greek (language). And I did find four black and white photos I took....who knows when? Two were of the tower itself, but in either photo, you can just barely see it in back. The other two were take from high above, in the tower. Actually, since the tower existed between 1968 and 1979... these photos were taken when I was "somewhere between" 15 and 26 years old. p.s. Pardon the quality of the photo....of the photos, heh. I don't have access to a scanner at this time, so I photograph what I can of these old pix, as best I can. The four photos I found. In the distance....there it is! Looking over the PNE Grounds. Lots of flat rides down there in Playland(PNE). And FYI, we used to have a wonderful outdoor covered carousel. It's located in the upper right corner, there. Dark roof. Held up by several columns. It was great!
  9. ^ Such exotic-ness on all your burgers, Phil! Very nice. And I love Tillamook cheddar! I wish it was sold up here. Only a few hundred miles away, to get it, lol. And....what the heck is cojita cheese? Looks awesome nonetheless.
  10. ^ Ha! They called it "the world's first hill-less coaster." That's certainly a (to me) unique way to sell it.
  11. New aerial photo has been posted, showing a bit of 'action' in the new spot where ZOOTOPIA-land is going. Thanks to DONGDONG for the photo! It's also neat to see how they've landscaped around the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster. At the original in WDW, you can walk completely around it. Here, only on the "front side." But that means they can surround the ride, with many more trees, than the original. (o:
  12. Just found this in my Folder of Theme park stuff. The centerfold of a past Park Guide. Too bad the "son" didn't turn out as bad as the father was/still is. Which was a bad thing. Happy Birthday, Kings Island!
  13. http://www.tdrexplorer.com just posted a few photos of the ongoing construction of the new-to-be Toy Story Hotel at TDLR. Thanks for the update and photos, TDR Explorer! By the way, from the views I'm seeing, from all the new Fantasy Springs/Hotel construction, to this new hotel going up, I feel that the next time we (hopefully) check into the Tokyo Bay Hilton....we're going to get the ocean/water view side room. Any "park views" that are possible from such rooms, are going to have a lot of attractions' show buildings in those views...and the castle fireworks when they happen. Just a thought on that. Photo taken from the Bayside Monorail Stn. Closer shot. From the back. And the Bay-viewing side we'll hope to get for our future Tokyo Bay Hilton room. (o;
  14. ^ Pardon my error. I should have posted "How many stages" do we actually have to go through? The easy answer is, "as many as it takes," sure. Still, with so many different versions of "a plan" up here in Canada, it makes one wonder which might work the best? The plan with more stages? Or less? Just trying to figure it all out.
  15. Every time the news comes on, one of our (10) Provinces' leaders announce a #-stage plan to get everybody back into the economy resurgence. Ontario's is a five stage plan. Alberta's is a four stage plan. British Columbia's? The Province where I live? Theirs is a three stage plan! WTF? How many "plans" does one need to get back on track after this crisis?
  16. I love what they are doing with tilt-a-whirls, now! This one looked especially.....tasty.
  17. Right off the top, and through several descriptions of this past PNE attraction, everything points to the PNE Spiro-Tower being designed and built by Mercedes Benz, in Europe. A car company! Who knew? It opened in 1968, the same U.S. Election year, that Richard Nixon picked his Vice Presidential running mate... ....Spiro Agnew. Pronounced "Speero". And after that, American visitors were known to call the attraction the "Speero Tower" not 'Spy-Row' as it should be pronounced. Stuff happens. And it was 330 feet tall. The tower stayed put until 1979. I think the main problem with having it, was the upkeep of it, during at least six months of off-season, both for Playland and the PNE Itself. Of course, nowadays, all parks are having this non-operating problem. And they're having ride operators here and there, running the rides just to keep them in running order. But for the Spiro-Tower (and the SkyGlider, too) this wasn't being done. And that was that. Down came the tower. And eventually the SkyGlider followed, with it's dismantling in the early 1980s. The first posted image is a page taken from a book published for the 100th Anniversary of The PNE, in 2010. ("100 Years of Fun") A page is mentioned about both attractions, as well as the funny story about "the wig that blew away." (All photos are from the net. And a book.) The Mercedes Benz logo on top, for everyone to see from afar.
  18. ^^ They also say this, apparently..... Ghhrrr......? In Djurs Sommerland. (2014)
  19. ^ I hope you can convince them, that the shipment had breakage. i.e. the BBQ sauce. The photo should help do it.
  20. ^ You are so lucky to live so close to all that! And ^^^^ joelwee, thanks for all that extra info. (with links) on the Knott's Chicken-To-Go coming back, with curbside pickup. Our "Day off from the park" in-room meal from Mrs.Knott's-To-Go. It was goooooood! Sept.07/19. And....one of these, too.
  21. Go, Go, Shanghai! Thinking good Opening Day thoughts and well wishes.
  22. If Playland had opened this past weekend, it would have been 8 months and a few days since I was last there, riding Coaster. But I did have the Disney Resort and Knott's last September, for a few coaster rides. Go Matterhorn!!!
  23. Groceries today. Almost $300.00 worth.
